This campsite has just saved our getaway weekend to try our new foldable kayak. I initially booked a campsite somewhere in Wurdiboluc but was so disappointed when we arrived, not only was so dirty but we felt so unsafe and immediately left! Thank God we found this place, A Place We call Home, and took us in even for a last-minute booking. Melissa was so kind and helpful and even accommodated our very short notice request of firewood. She even refunded my second night booking because we left at night. I have not encountered a host as kind as Melissa.
The campsite is a gem, well maintained and clean! It’s complete with amenities like kitchen and water (for washing), kayaks and paddles, and massive firepit with grill and swivel stand for cooking. Although we did not use it because we have our own, it was nice to see a campsite with these bonuses! We enjoyed the dam for our kayak. Most importantly, we felt very comfortable and safe throughout our stay. Surely, we’ll recommend to our friends who are campers too!

My family and I enjoyed escaping to this slice of paradise over the long weekend. Family were very inviting and friendly. Land and amenities were very well kept and natural. Camp blocks were a generous size with plenty of room between if all were full up. We will look forward to returning any chance that we get! Highly recommend if your looking for a place to stop, reboot and get grounded.

We had a wonderful stay at Melissa and Josh’s farm. They were very accommodating and welcoming. Their children were so friendly, and my kids had the best time playing together. Their puppy is absolutely adorable! We really enjoyed paddle boating, exploring Bendigo during the day, and relaxing around the campfire in the evenings. Such a lovely family and a great experience.

We had a fantastic time at A Place We Call Home this weekend. Melissa and Josh were absolutely lovely and incredibly accommodating. The land was beautiful and peaceful, and the kids loved exploring around the dam and playing on the flying fox. Thanks so much, would definitely recommend!

Melissa was easy to communicate with and prompt. Directions were clear and easy to access with our caravan. We stayed mid winter so we weren't able to use the dam, fires (raining) etc. The property is beautiful and tranquil, just what we wanted.

Great location with visiting kangaroos & plenty of birdsong. Unfortunately we arrived in wet weather so did not really get to enjoy what the site had to offer but we’ll be back to enjoy the tracks in the reserve next door. Loved meeting Melissa and learning about their work to encourage the wildlife in the area. We had the place to ourselves so we could choose which of the sites we preferred. We chose site 1 which was closer to the trees. The site came complete with a fire pit & an outdoor setting suitable for a couple.

Stayed 3nights as doing activities in the area, if you’re wanting space, peace and quiet then it’s for you, the site is in early development with lots of young trees so is a little open, but will be lovely in years to come. Easy to find and hosts very accessible and friendly.

Melissa and Josh are lovely. This was our first Hipcamp stay and it didn’t disappoint. I think we had the best of the 4 sites - but if you couldn’t get site 2, site 1 would be my next choice if you like your privacy. Access to potable water was great and Josh came through and lit a fire a couple times during our stay.
Is close to Bendigo for day trips.

Very enjoyable! This location was peaceful and quiet, both qualities of a great camping spot. The host is very accommodating and responsive to any enquires you may have. Cooking facilities available and even kayaks for the family. Enjoy! 🙃

We book all 4 site and had the whole place to ourselves. Stayed right on the edge of the dam with a couple of caravans and tents. Great spot. Thanks again for sharing your property with us.

We had a lovely quiet time, only ones here. Conveniently just outside town. Melissa was very responsive, communication and direction great. Melissa suggested us staying on Site 2 which had some shade as it was very hot. It's very dry at the moment they do need rain

We enjoyed our camp at Melissa's property. The water tank at the BBQ and sink shed was a nice touch, ment we didn't need to scrounge and cart water from servo's for showering. 2 out of the 3 days of our stay were close to 40 deg so having a dam to cool off in was very welcome. We spent most of our time checking the tourist locations in Bendigo which was only a short 20min or so drive away.

We loved camping here! The hosts were friendly. Great to have the under-cover camp kitchen. Kangaroos showed up at the dam occasionally if we were quiet. Great being so close to Bendigo too.

Congratulations, Melissa and Josh! You have created a beautiful and tranquil setting where the land is cared for with pride. The revegetation work you have done is outstanding.
During our 7-night stay, we particularly enjoyed the sounds of frogs croaking in the billabong, the kangaroos coming to drink at the dam, the songs of the birds, the vast sky perfect for stargazing, as well as the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. We loved the views into the forest, the peaceful forest walks, and the lazy days spent gazing out over the dam while watching the windmill turn.
We also felt reassured knowing our van was safe and secure while we went on day trips to explore the excellent surrounding areas.

I had a lovely time camped up at Melissa and Josh's property, I was camped up about 10m away from the dam and awoke to the most beautiful sunrises I have seen for a while. Both Josh and Melissa went out of there way to make me feel welcomed at there property. The property is really quite and there is plenty of wildlife about.
If you are looking for a camp-site in this area I highly recommend paying these guys a visit.

What a beautiful quiet place. We were greeted just after our set up by Josh who gave us an overview of the facilities. Watching the Roos come in for a drink from the dam at dusk, the bird song and stars overhead. A great place for some soul restoration. Thanks Melissa and Josh
