Ladybug Camping 🐞 is a private campground offering a serene and immersive escape in Oldina, North West Tasmania 🌿. Set within a sheltered valley among towering Silver wattle, Man ferns and Blackwood trees, our 50-acre bushland retreat features three private waterfalls and a babbling creek that winds through the property—perfect for families, couples, and groups seeking peace, privacy, and connection with nature. The naturally protected valley shields guests from wind, creating comfortable camping conditions year-round. Wildlife encounters are common, with platypus gliding through the creek, Tasmania’s giant freshwater crayfish hiding beneath the rocks, pademelons grazing at dusk, and abundant birdlife throughout the day 🦆. Our spacious, private campsites cater to all camping styles. Some sites are self-contained, while others are tent-only for a more immersive bush experience. We offer sites ideal for caravans, campervans, rooftop tents, and group bookings, alongside more secluded sites perfect for couples and solo travellers. A well-maintained toilet is available for guest comfort. Site 2 – Creekside Hideaway Just across a quaint footbridge from the carpark, Site 2 is a lush, grassy sanctuary tucked within a pocket of temperate rainforest. Surrounded on three sides by a gently flowing creek and shaded by towering blackwoods, this tent-only site stays lush and green even through the driest Tasmanian summers. The short 50-metre walk over the bridge adds to the sense of seclusion, giving this site a peaceful, tucked-away feel. There’s room for up to three tents, making it a great choice for families or small groups wanting space, privacy, and a strong connection to nature. As the sun dips low, festoon lights strung through the trees create a soft, magical glow. Guests also have access to our outdoor cinema and a nearby tree swing—perfect for a bit of carefree fun, whether you’re young or just young at heart. If you’re after a quiet, fern-filled retreat with creek views, rainforest ambience, and a touch of whimsy, Creekside Hideaway is a truly special place to set up camp. Site 1 is our newest site, it’s a cosy, creekside campsite well suited to couples or small groups with up to two tents. With the creek gently flowing past, the site offers a calm, relaxed setting that feels close to nature without being overly secluded or remote. Festoon lights provide a warm glow in the evenings, while the fire pit and picnic table make it easy to settle in and enjoy slow nights by the water. The smaller scale creates an intimate feel, ideal for guests who want a simple, comfortable base with atmosphere rather than excess space. Campsite 6 is a brand new spacious, level site set in a quiet valley beneath tall wattle trees. A fern-lined creek runs along one side, offering a beautiful natural boundary and a place to explore or simply sit beside the water. The waterfalls are just 200 m upstream, an easy walk for those who want to visit or swim. Back at camp, the setting is peaceful, private, and designed for families or groups who want to camp together without interruption. The entire site is yours alone to enjoy—no sharing, no neighbours, just space and seclusion surrounded by nature. This site is perfect for tents, rooftop tents, camper trailers, vans and caravans up to 20 foot. Note: Very large caravans (21 foot +), buses, and large motorhomes will find it difficult to get in and out of the campsite. Surrounded by protected bushland and flanked by a serene creek, this site offers complete seclusion for your group—no shared spaces, no interruptions, just the natural environment and your party. Designed for self-contained campers, Camp 4 accommodates rooftop tents, traditional tents, caravans (up to 20 ft), camper trailers, and hiace-style vans. Large Winnebago-style vans and buses are not suitable. While 2WD vehicles can access the site, we recommend using a 4x4 when towing for your safety and to protect the tracks. The site is naturally sheltered, offering protection from the elements while immersing you fully in the sights and sounds of Tasmania’s wild landscape. 🐞🌿 Ideal for couples, small families, and groups seeking a low-effort excape into nature. 🌿🐞 Just a short 100-metre stroll from the carpark and across a charming wooden footbridge, this gently sloped, grassy glamping site is perched at the top of our spectacular upper waterfalls 💦 (one of three private waterfalls guests can explore on the property). With the creek bubbling past and a refreshing natural swimming hole nearby, it’s an immersive and rejuvenating bush escape, perfect for a cool dip on warm Tasmanian days. 🌿 No need to haul tents or heavy gear — this unique site includes exclusive use of our two lovingly restored vintage Ladybug caravans, Honey and Wattle, providing cosy sleeping for up to 6 pepole in total (3 double beds). These character-filled vans offer a comfortable and nostalgic base, tucked away in a peaceful bush setting. The site is fully equipped for relaxed outdoor cooking, featuring a dedicated camp kitchen with BBQ, gas stove, basic pots, pans, and utensils. Fresh spring water is available on tap at the site for washing up and general use (note: this water is not a registered drinking supply — please boil, treat, or bring your own potable water for drinking and cooking). You’ll also enjoy a picnic table, firepit 🔥for story telling and marshmallow roasts, and soft festoon lighting strung through the trees for magical evenings under the stars. There is ample space for additional tents if larger groups wish to join. Guests have easy access to the nearby composting toilet and our much-loved tree swing. Important facility notes: There is no shower facilities on the property — embrace the rustic Tasmanian bush experience with creek swims or bring your own portable setup if needed. A beautiful, pristine piece of wilderness has been shared by Peter and Kim. The entire area looks so lovingly prepared, from providing a trolley for campers to carry items, fairy lights set up, stairs built for access to waterfalls. A platypus feeding was in the section of river right where we parked. A unique experience.

Our stay at Ladybug Camping was a truly special experience. The campsites are wonderfully secluded and private, and it’s clear that Peter and Kim have put a lot of thought and care into creating such a magical place—no doubt with a little inspiration from a special someone else in the family. We stayed at Campsite 6, which is very generously sized and would easily accommodate multiple families camping together. We also had a look at Campsite 4, which looked equally inviting, with even a hammock offering a perfect spot to relax. The track in is well-made and easy to navigate—again, a sign that real effort and investment has gone into making the experience smooth and enjoyable. This Hipcamp is about as good as it gets for self-sufficient campers. A serene, magical forest setting, complete with your own creek gently bubbling nearby, makes it incredibly easy to unwind. One thing that’s probably underappreciated is how well protected the valley is from the often blustery Tassie westerly winds—if it’s windy, this is exactly where you want to be! Peter is a fantastic host and a great communicator. Thank you—we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely love to return.

We loved the experience of camping on Site 6. It was so peaceful and relaxing down by the river. The area was well maintained and easy to find a flat area to set the van up on. The picnic table and fire pit was a very welcome addition and we enjoyed both. We enjoyed a walk to the waterfall and the scenery was spectacular. I would highly recommend this place but just remember that you need a 4W drive to get in and out as the road is a little steep in parts.

Ladybug Hipcamp was a perfect getaway for us. The sites are large, well grassed and level. They are also well positioned to ensure privacy, have proper fire pits and even have cute mood lighting. Peter and Kim came and said g'day with the kids who brought Easter eggs. A genuinely lovely experience. Definitely recommend this Hipcamp.

A lot of time and effort has gone into this Hipcamp. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The site was clean, private, peaceful and perfect for a larger group. There is a pretty waterfall a short walk up the road and a flowing creek to relax by. Peter and Kim are welcoming hosts. We have already booked our next stay.

Beautiful forest setting, with creek right next to site. Very well organised camp where Kim and Peter and two kids were excellent hosts. Both of us and our dog has a relaxing time in a highly recommend camp ground. Thought has gone into design of the campground, the toileting facilities and even the trolley to get equipment across the creek. We even saw ladybugs

An absolutely beautiful campsite carefully thought out to provide solitude for each camp group. Facilities are simple but clean and well maintained . The beautiful natural environment features tree fern gullies crystal clear streams with natural waterfalls and a resident platypus . We will return 💕

Absolutely huge site, very private with river flowing beside it. We got to see a platypus in the river. Would be a great site for a group booking as very open area and flat ground. Firewood available for purchase. A place to enjoy the peace and quiet and forget about everything for a few days. Extremely friendly host. Would highly recommend this place.

We loved camping at Campsite #4. The road was ok with a hired camper van but would be better in a 4WD. We loved seeing how may ladybugs we could spot and watching/listening to the creek. Great for adventurous self contained campers that aren’t afraid of the rain and love a rainforest environment.

Wow!! What a stunning place. Could not recommend more highly. Photos don’t do it quite justice. It’s so beautiful & tranquil. We stayed at campsite 4 which was lovely and private. We booked for one night and extended to two. Our last night was strong winds (apparently) but we were so protected down in the valley we hardly felt it.

We loved camp site number 4. It was hidden away from view and with the creek running around the edge of it, made for a very peaceful stay. Peter was very friendly and took the time to speak to us about his property and why he moved there with his family. The other sites we saw were very well set up and Peter advised that there are more sites to be completed.

Camp-site #2 at Peter and Kim's ladybug Camp ground was perfect for our little getaway. Alot of time and effort has been put into these Camp-sites to make sure its the ultimate relaxing camp. The outdoor movie is a must!!! Everywhere you looked there was something magical, the split of bushland one side and rainforest the other has something gor every nature lover.. a dip in the falls is also a must!! Peter was an amazing host showing us what there is on offer and sharing his knowledge.

Adored our stay at Ladybug, and seriously could not recommend it enough! Such a beautiful site set between the creek line and forest - Peter and Kim have clearly put a lot of love into the site. If you’re looking for a getaway into nature with some wonderful extras (fire pits, fairy lights, outdoor cinema, waterfalls!) then this is the one for you. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Tasmania ☺️

Stayed at campsite 6, a great area for a larger group. Was a lovely secluded location on the creek but unfortunately I didn’t see the resident platypus. Track in is steep but had no trouble getting in or out. Hosts are very accommodating.
