Recently had a nights stay at Charlys farm and couldn’t recommend it more! We camped right by the river, swam in the refreshing water and had a campfire in the already established fire pit (thank you Charly)! There were several dogs (of all shapes and sizes) that greeted us and we spent the majority of our time with their beautiful Great Dane, Shilo. Important to note, whilst the dogs bark, they were all incredibly friendly and Charly offered to put them away several times if they were a bother. The paddock was filled with free roaming horses, cows and goats who even let us pet them! We had plenty of privacy and a short walk to the flushing toilet made it a very pleasant stay. If coming from Launceston, we travelled on Roses Tier Road from Upper Blessington, onto Gunns Road and turning left onto Upper Esk Road. Whilst it was steep, windy and gravelly, we found it easy to navigate.

What a great spot to camp. Amazing views and the ability to camp right on the creek. Plenty of shade if you if you need it and lots of places to explore.

There is something truely special about Happy Healthy Valley, we loved spending time with all the animals across the property but mostly Charly and her family made us feel so welcome. Thanks for the stay, we would love to come back in the future.

We loved the raw natural nature by the river, very peaceful and enjoyable. However, there was a big dead animal carcass near our camp which was off putting. Loved the animals. Loved the art work in the toilet. Wasn't much toilet paper provided so we used our own. We didn't appreciate the little girl throwing rocks our way , she could have caused us injury. I highly encourage the owner to have healthy boundaries in place to be very wise with what share shares with complete strangers. There's some things you don't share with strangers. Something to consider, a drop toilet closer to camp. It was great there was a landline for us to use seeing as we had no phone service. All in all we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for having us. ❤️

What a place! Very unassuming in the trip down and then you arrive at a secluded heaven with a beautiful view of the valley, sounds of the creek and the animals add to the magic. Charly was very helpful. Warning to put your food away though as the nosy but harmless cows did pay us a visit at bedtime!

It was a little tricky to get there (Google had me going another way 😅) and I showed up pretty late. Charly was helpful and understanding. I would have liked to enjoy their property and the river but I ran out of daylight 😂

Besides google maps doing us dirty and sending us through forestry roads (go towards Mathinna not memory road) - this stay was great!
Charly and her dogs greeted us on entry and she directed us towards a peaceful little patch down by the river. In the morning, we got to eat our brekky with the view of the cows grazing and mountains in the horizon.
Highly recommend for a rural farm stay. Thanks Charly!

Why you shouldn’t camp at Happy Healthy Valley…
1. The cows will want to share your breakfast (and campsite)
2. There aren’t designated and freshly mowed camping spots…you may even have to move a cow paddy or two.
3. You’ll have to build your own fire pit, sourcing rocks and sticks from around you.
4. The riverbed is strewn with massive trees washed down with floods.
5. There are so many rocks that your kids will insist n making all the #TasRocks and taking home kilos of “pretty stones”.
6. Google maps will take you on adventures to uncrossable bridges on roads you know cars haven’t been for quite some time.
7. There is no mobile coverage or wifi access.
So why should you stay at happy valley?…

We enjoyed our stay relaxing and tranquil stay at the farm. We found the open field very peaceful and spacious. Interacting with the free roaming cows was fun. The river flowing next to the site would be wonderful to see in a time of year with more rain fall.

We loved staying at happy healthy valleys. The directions and instructions were clear, we found the place easily, and were welcomed by dogs, goats and cows as expected!
Our camp by the river was quiet and we loved exploring the land and playing in the water. Plenty of firewood lying around too.
We even enjoyed having some cows huddle around the fire with us.
We will be definitely be making another trip to happy healthy valleys, what an awesome little spot!

I had an amazing time at this beautiful, private, and serene campsite. The setting was perfect—peaceful and surrounded by nature. Directions were clear, easy to find. We especially enjoyed the firepit and the nearby river, which made our stay even more memorable. Ben Lomond is close by and absolutely worth a visit for its stunning views and trails. We had a lovely quiet camp, Charlie was friendly and helpful. You can check out the camp on YouTube if you like https://youtu.be/N8C4fYFcj8w?si=LN7rd7AWhkzWSiuf and https://youtu.be/_Q_GSNgNjGQ?si=_e6iuN8h5m6TeLYi the second video has drone footage of the paddock, I would suggest if you are coming from the Northwest it might be an idea to take the long way through Fingal and Mathina. The directions on the site take you on a lovely scenic drive but once you pass Ben lomand turn off, its gravel road and a very long steep hill, corrugated in places. We enjoyed the drive but decided to take the long way back on sealed roads. The short walks to the river were very pretty and the river was peaceful, we had a campfire on the shingle beside the river both nights, it was perefect.

Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with our stay. As per host standards, the property should have minimized hazards and prepare guest with safety warnings.
As we came in through the gates we were surrounded by a group of extremely large dogs barking and circling the cars. The host had advised of this and said just to drive on but it was unsettling and set our dog off barking and jumping round the car.The paddock we were camped in had free roaming cows. We had to shovel cow pats away to be able to set up our camp. The grass was long and the ground very uneven with trip hazards everywhere. The worst of it though was the plague of European Wasps. I was stung and 2 other members of our group also suffered the same fate. We couldn't sit outside, cook or eat comfortably until the sunset and the wasps disappeared.
We paid $45 a night for this. We had booked for 2 nights but packed up and left there the next morning. Other people camped there were also extremely disappointed and intended to leave the next morning also. They had to put their dog in their van as it was so bad,
Would certainly rethink using this app again to find a camp.

Despite the beautiful setting for our camp spot and the overall helpfulness of the host ,Charley . The big barking three of the six dogs that greet you each time once through the gate and meander down to the camp spot can be confronting even if you are a dog owner or even have no dog with you .

After a nice drive through the country side we travelled down a narrow road to find the property. A property sign would have been good. Lucky we remembered about the saddle on the fence.
When entering the gate we were greeted by a LOT of dogs, some quite large and scary looking. (I imagine it would be quite confronting for anyone not used to dogs)
Made our way down to the camping area which was unkept with extremely long grass and lots and lots of cow pats. Which we needed to clear away before we set up, lucky one of our group had a shovel.
While we were setting up we were inundated with European wasps.
Three of us were stung.
We tried to have some snacks and they got worse. We decided to wait until dark to cook anything for tea.
We did have a nice walk down to the river where our dogs managed to have a swim.
We had booked for two nights but after just the afternoon of dealing with the wasps we had had enough and packed up early before they got bad when the sun came up.
We drove past the owner who did not try and engage with us. If it was my property I would want to know why? when booked for more than one night we were leaving after one night.
The property was grossly over price. Should have been $10 a night as we were totally self sufficient.
So disappointing we were looking forward to staying in paradise as advertised, not the nightmare we experienced.

We had some trouble finding the place as there is no sign and it’s quite remote. Maybe a sign wouldn’t hurt. Due to the low hanging branches we couldn’t use the driveway and had to cut past the tied up pig and plenty of random rubbish . . The paddock hadn’t been mowed and the grass was a foot long . There wasn’t a spot where you could see the river although a track had been cleared to walk in . It was an ok place
To stay but not for $45 a couple . It’s a 10 dollar site.

Upon arriving at the gate we thought for sure we were at the wrong property. After re reading our e mail the directions are very clear so we knew it was the right one. After entering we were greeted with dogs and goats. We were given directions to the river, it was so peaceful, no man made noises just nature. Amazing night sky, if you want a beautiful private camp you must come here. Remember there is no mobile reception so down load instructions and map before getting out there. Probably more convenient if you can be self contained. Thank you to the hosts for opening up their very private property to allow strangers to enjoy it.

The host was nice and the river had lovely clear water. There are some things that could be done to improve this as a camping site. Better directions provided at time of booking would have helped avoid difficulties travelling from Launceston as the forestry roads are not easy to navigate. Suggest route through Fingal and Mathina for people coming from Launceston. Clear signage at the property would also help. There was only a small patch of ground that did not have long grass; however this area needed a clean up of all the cow pats, which were hard to avoid stepping in.
Not great when you are sitting there trying to cook and eat dinner. Two of the owner's dogs visited our camping spot twice and growled at my small dog, once when he was tied up and I was a short distance away, which was unsettling. We did enjoy a peaceful and restful night.

When I arrived the gate was locked and there was no one at the property. I left a voicemail as well as messaging via the app. I received a response the following day stating they thought we were arriving Saturday and got their dates mixed up. As a result we were forced to drive around to find another camp ground as there is little to no phone reception in the area to be able to load maps or search online.

What a great place to camp, peaceful, just the cows and goats to keep you company. It’s also private and a beautiful valley to camp in. The river provides a lovely spot for a swim or for the kids to play in. We would camp here again.

Charly lives in a truly beautiful part of Tassie and I had a fantastic experience camping along the river for Christmas. I’ll be going back again to share the experience with my family as my children will love spending time with the farm animals.
