Some background is perhaps necessary to understand my experience. It turns out the Hipcamp listing is maintained by person A (daughter) for dad Bert, she updates a physical diary for Bert who is who u deal with and owner during the stay. We arrived to Bert’s great surprise who had no idea we were coming, and panic as he was busy and didn’t seem to have time for us, he was also in a mild panic about the ground being too soft and seemed on the verge of sending us away. That being said he did go out of his way to make it right and we ended up with a free upgrade (hence the mixed feelings) we booked this for a special occasion and paid $120 a night for the smaller hot tub but due to the mix up had the large one to ourselves, the tub is fantastic using river water which has a tannin colour to it but superbly clean and maintained. I do have concerns about putting more prying it though as the water coming in is extremely hot so with 2 u just don’t sit close but if u had 4 in someone would be sitting next to the scalding water coming in, same concern for the smaller tub we didn’t use, it seems u would have to sit at each end and never move around to avoid the scalding water, I can see it would be far too simple for really bad burns. Overall I don’t think it’s worth the excessive costs being charged by comparison to other river Hipcamps, the tubs are the only point of difference and so I just would never consider paying $60 for a no tub site! Will I go again? Special occa only.
