Located just a 20 minute drive from the Hobart CBD, this beautiful 0.67 hectare coastal bush property is set in a little valley right by Kingston Beach, Browns River and Tyndall Beach. It's just a short 5 minute stroll down the road to the beach, or up the road to the start of the Alum Cliffs Track. Activities you can enjoy here include birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, bike riding, dog walking. You'll be staying in a fairly new comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom tucked under my house. There's a double bed made up with fresh linen. You'll enjoy hot showers, a flushing toilet and almost complete privacy. There's mains water. With prior notice you could use the washing machine inside the house and hang your clothes on the clothes line strung between trees. Parking for two cars and/or caravan/campervan is easy. A circular driveway surrounds the house with a driveway extension. I hope to build an outside kitchen at the nearby shed, but for now campers need to be self-contained for their cooking and washing up, or else take the short walk to Kingston Beach and the excellent cafes and restaurants there for a bite to eat. Food scraps must go in the compost bin on site. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Longer pieces of firewood are provided free of charge and kindling can easily be collected from around. (Please don't use the shorter pieces of cut firewood as they are for my wood heater). You could enjoy a wood fired bush bath at extra charge, conditions allowing, with advance notice. Early evening is the best time to enjoy a bush bath and star gazing with set up in the afternoon. Wildlife on the property includes birds, wallabies, possums, echidnas and bandicoots. You are welcome to bring your small dog but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there. I have an older Jack Russell who is afraid of big dogs, sorry. Cozy cottage like room in nature

Bush Refuge by the Beach

we loved staying here - esp the outdoor bush bath was a unique experience. The room is super cute, cozy & clean. The nearby restaurants & beaches are lovely, only a 5- 10 minute walk. Barbara is a kind & considerate host who answered our questions and gave some great recommendations of places to eat. We even saw possums.

We absolutely loved our stay at Barbara’s guest house. The tranquility of the bush setting, the creature comforts of the guest house itself coupled with semi-camping was the perfect start to our Tassie vanlife adventure. The location absolutely amazing, close proximity to Hobart yet you get to step away from the hustle and bustle the moment you enter the property ~ oh, and there’s a short stroll to the beach! The best part of the stay has to be meeting Barbara. She is the most beautiful host. It’s amazing the bond we created in what was a very short time ~ thank you Barbara, you truely are wonderful soul.

Bush Refuge by the Beach

This was a beautiful spot to stay over the Easter long weekend. Truly a refuge by the sea. The apartment itself is perfectly sized & bathroom was great. Heating was excellent. The sound of the sea & the birds was very peaceful - but the shops of Kingston were actually just minutes away. Barbara is a great host with excellent communication.

Magical beach retreat

Barbara’s place is a well kept secret! It is quiet, relaxing and the outdoor bath experience was just magical! The interior space is beautiful, meticulously decorated with all the comforts. We were toasty with panel heaters in both rooms, and the location is perfect - just a short 2 min walk to the beach and another 5 mins to cafes. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barbara’s bush retreat. A camp without a tent … perfect when you love the bush and beach but need a comfy bed. Short walk to beach. Can have your own private camp fire or a bush bath! Highly recommend. Barbara is the perfect hostess and made us feel very welcome.

Bush Refuge by the Beach

The perfect retreat in the Bush and close to the ocean. Shops are short walk away if needed too. I took my little camp cooker and esky and not having a kitchen was not a problem. I enjoyed the simplicity. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the trails that are right on your doorstep. Comfy, clean and delightful place to stay. Highly recommend Barbara's place.

Bush Refuge by the Beach

Cute little unit with a comfortable bed and lots of thoughtful little touches. Barbara was a friendly host and great with communications. This would be an ideal spot for someone travelling with a van who wants a base where they can access the Channel/Huon and Hobart areas by car. Also just as good for some car free time as there are walks around the area and Kingston Beach is nearby. Highly recommended!

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous little bush hideaway, situated just above Kingston Beach and within walking distance of some amazing walking trails, including the Alum Cliffs track to the Shot Tower in Taroona. Barbara was a wonderful host - very friendly and thoughtful, and the accommodation was lovely, with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! I can highly recommend this beautiful bush retreat! :)

Absolutely amazing stay! Great location with bush walks and a beautiful beach all within walking distance. Very comfortable accommodation and Barbara went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after! Everything was perfect and very cheap for what was offered. Would definitely come back to this cute little getaway!!😊
