This was an excellent campground! The camp kitchen had everything you need - dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, and even some staple items like oils and spices. The bathrooms were very clean. The place is in a great setting in the mountains with lots of wildlife around (pademelons, wallabies, possums, rabbits). You have to drive about 10km down a dirt road to get to it, but it is worth it! There is no phone service, but the wifi in the kitchen works really well. This was probably the best campground I stayed in in my two weeks in Tasmania.

The views on the way to the campsite were lovely. We arrived very late to camp, but the hosts were amazing and understanding. They provide everything you need for a great stay; power, amenities, kitchen and laundry. The views in the morning did not disappoint. Amazing place!

Really nice place with great and clean facilities. The kitchen is very well stocked with a free shelf so you have salt/oil/sauce available.

I camped there with a rooftop tent. We received a warm welcome ! Amenities and kitchen are great and the campground is well maintained ! I would go back for sure !

The host welcomed us very kindly. The facilities are so nice. You could take a shower with warm water and provided a clean bathroom. It is the best campsite! It was great to take a walk because you could see wild animals such as wallabies and rabbits, and it was a nice place to go because it was in the quiet and scenic mountains. I took many pictures of my life.

Up a crazy mountain road, with spectacular wilderness views, we found that this well-designed campground is full of amenities, thoughtful comforts and local wildlife. All facilities--toilets, showers, group kitchen, laundry, power hookups--were the best we have ever experienced in our decades of camping across the globe. Steve and Alana are inspiring in their vision, energy and delivery. Steve's daily dusk feeding and talk about local wildlife showcased the best of Tassie (and people in general) : teaching visitors about the magic of his home, sharing the spirit of homesteaders in the wilderness and demonstrating how to care for and share with all our wild neighbors and the land we love. Much gratitude for a memorable short stay. We hope to return again soon!

Alana and Steve’s property is just perfect. Only had one night there camping between Mt Field and Freycinet but will be back. Peaceful, serene and gorgeous property. Do the walk of the block, it’s so beautiful. Recommend a couple of nights there to chill and unwind between adventures. Alana and Steve were also friendly and kind. Thanks guys ☺️

Stunning location. A really peaceful place to stop and hang in the hammocks. Facilities were excellent and at no extra cost. Hard to find a better view while eating breakfast. I really appreciated Steve's hospitality, making my 3 year old feel at home.

Excellent set-up, gorgeous environment, great facilities and hosts. It was peaceful and a well needed disconnect spending the arvo in a hammock. I could have spent a few days in here if time had allowed. Highly recommend.

Ein sehr schöner campground. Nette und umsichtiger Gastgeber.
Man hat dort seine Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit ohne auf Annehmlichkeiten verzichten zu müssen.
Viele Tiere sind zu sehen, man kann sie beobachten oder selbst füttern.
Die Anfahrt ist etwas verwirrend, aber wenn man es gefunden hat wird man belohnt. Wir empfehlen es unbedingt weiter.

Alana was a very pleasant and particularly helpful host. Superb and well organised, comprehensive facilities. Lovely quiet location high in the hills with plenty of wild life. Tops tranquillity.

We LOVED our stay at base camp Tasmania!! So much amazing wildlife, the hosts were exceptionally helpful and have us some great info about our onward travel which lead to a great trip!
Fantastic amenities (kitchen, toilets, showers) and all so well maintained. Really enjoyed it!

Hosts were super accommodating to the fact that I accidentally booked the wrong night!! As a young solo female traveler I felt so so safe! Got to meet the owner and their neighbour who were lovely, jack the wombat was good fun!!
Driveway was a little intimidating but I made it up in one piece :)
Well worth the stay, hope to come back soon! Thanks for the stay!

Alana & Steve have created the perfect get-away. Away from the crowds, elevated, space, beautiful nature in spades, awesome amenities.. everything you need for a rest. Highly recommended for at least a few days.. if not longer.

Base Camp Tas was such a great camp spot. All the facilities made it feel like luxury camping with hot showers and fully equipped kitchen. The site had some narrow spots so it was a little tricky to manoeuvre our big car in but luckily it wasn’t full so we had space available. There’s also pademelons and wallabies galore, and you might see a devil if you’re lucky. Steve and Alana were excellent hosts, very friendly and easy going. We will be back!

Perfectly situated and pretty remote but absolutely beautiful location.
Very kind host Steven showed us what to expect and also opportunities for travelling etc
Every evening he was interested in what we had done during the day and also treated the wallaby’s and also Jack the wombat with some food
The place is very clean and very good equipped kitchen and fridge etc
Nice place and nice host I would recommend this camping, we were travelling with only a tent and stayed 4 nights
