Campsite unusable due to extensive burr coverage – no refund provided
We booked the Tree Top campsite understanding it was a natural bush site. The land itself is quite steep, and the only reasonably flat area suitable for setting up was extensively covered in burrs. While the burrs were not sharp, they attached to clothing, shoes, bedding, and camping gear, making the site impractical to use. This would apply regardless of whether you are camping in a tent, campervan, or RV. We had both a campervan and a tent.
The issue was not the natural setting itself, but that the area required for setting up and living in the campsite was not usable due to the burr coverage.
The host visited the campsite on the first afternoon and the condition of the ground was clearly visible, but no acknowledgement or alternative site was offered. Due to the conditions, we packed up and left early and secured alternative accommodation.
We notified the host the following day, as soon as reasonably possible, after relocating and setting up again with limited phone reception on the island. Despite this, the host declined to provide a refund.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, particularly given the condition of the campsite and the lack of resolution afterward. This review reflects our experience so future campers can make an informed decision.

Eeyore’s Campsite was the perfect tranquil spot to celebrate our Christmas 2025. It was wild weather but the terrain and adjacent forest protected us very well from the strong winds.
We loved seeing the many furry critters busily mowing the grass and our friendly welcoming hosts couldn’t have been more helpful.
We would highly recommend this HipCamp to anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful spot nestled in a lovely natural setting.

Tree Top Campsite
We had a great time staying at Charlie and Paul’s property which was in a great location to explore the island. They meant us at the campsite and made us feel right at home. Heaps of room and you have the whole place to yourself. Would recommend

Tree Top Campsite
Neat and tidy with short grass plus an acre of land to ourselves. Great views of the forest and very quiet as it is well off the road. Plenty of wildlife and birds plus 3 horses and a foal visited us over the fence. The land sloped in different directions but we were still able to park our motorhome level.
