A working sheep property that has over 100 years of Australian merino history. We are a self replacing Merino sheep property, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Flinders Ranges. This property is very unique as it’s close to services and has breath taking views with beautiful historical old red gums, very close to the Heysen trail and bike tracks. Only 8 kms out of the township of Wilmington. We provide all linen; sheets, towels & most basics, spices, tea, coffee, some toilet paper etc. you can enjoy some comforts of home.

Perfect for 1 family, 1 small camper or RV per site. This site is amongst some beautiful trees in sight of the shearers' cottage. Can accommodate a large caravan or setups of all kinds. This site offers a cleared area to set up however you please. Your site is opposite a very old red gum in front and other trees. Once set up, sit back and relax. Please note that other campers may be visible from this site, depending on how you set up for your stay. Access to toilets and showers a short walk away. Access to a fire pit - when there is no fire bands in place. Please no digging of holes, Designated fire pit provided. (outside fire ban season) NO CHAINSAWS levelling will be required. **Cottage is out of bounds unless booked, with your booking

Horrocks Vale Shearers Cottage

The shearers cottage - Relax with the whole family (off the grid) at this very private, peaceful property. A historical working Merino sheep property set in the heart of the beautiful Flinders Ranges 6km out of Wilmington. Looking for some time off the grid, this cottage is the place to stay. Simple cottage with no frills, the perfect spot to connect with nature, or visit Melrose & ride your bikes on the mountain tracks, hike the Heyson trail, ride the Pichi Richi railway, hike Alligator Gorge, and much more. The cottage is solid concrete, with 2 main bedrooms, which are accessed off the dining & kitchen with only one access door to both rooms. The first room has 2 single beds and the main room has a double bed. The other bedroom is outside off the verandah (we call the sleep-out), but still connected to the house. All clean sheets and pillows will be supplied. The small kitchen is well-equipped and comprises 2 large fridges and an old vintage fridge used only for drinks or a freezer. The kitchen has 2 gas stoves\ovens. The dining area has a massive original wood table that our shearing teams sit around and seats up to 12 people. The kitchen is fitted with a brand-new split system for your comfort. A washing machine is available for use. The cottage has all been recently painted and new tiled floors throughout the cottage. Some firewood will be provided for an outdoor fire. Property: PLEASE NOTE This property is private. To access this property, there is a 1km of dirt road that can be bumpy, dusty, muddy or slippery, depending on the time of the year and road grading schedule. The upside is, you have no neighbours, can have a campfire, (But not in Fire Ban seasons usually October to April) can enjoy walks up the hill to see the incredible sunsets and sunrises and even see kangaroos roaming the property and listen to the kookaburras in the old gum trees. Summary: We have tried to give you the most honest description of the cottage we can, to ensure you know exactly what to expect when you arrive. This property has been in the family for over 50 years and is still a working Merino property.

The shearers' Quarters - The quarters are a great add-on if you want a large group stay - We have 8 single beds available with 3 separate rooms. The shower block has 3 separate showers and 2 basins. A separate toilet in another area. ***Bring your own bedding, or reach out, and we can supply sheets for an extra charge. Cottage Site
We were privileged to be the first ever Hipcampers at Nikki's place. We were warmly welcomed to their farm and given lots of local info. We walked to the tower lookout on her farm and enjoyed one of the best views of the Flinders Ranges and Fitzgerald Bay. The flushing toilet and hot shower were sparkling clean. Leveling of caravans required, very peaceful and private spot.
