Staying at the Coorong Island Retreat, you’re a guest of nature – slumbering, playing, and exploring the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong - the region embodies all of nature’s brilliance and boasts a breathtaking scenery, and remarkable Australian wildlife. Around the property there are options to venture out on a boat, bushwalking on nature trials, biking to Coorong, 4WD off-roading at Coorong National Park or tasting adventure at Langhorne Creek. It is ideal for boating – it’s a fishers and birdwatchers paradise. Coorong Island Retreat is suitable for self contained campers with their own toilet/shower facilities. Family groups, camp fires (Fire Danger Season Restrictions Apply) and well behaved pets are welcome. Please note, we have unfenced livestock (Sheep and Alpacas) at the property. around the camp sites. This property is often gets windy, there's a space between tree groves that is shielded from wind, however, it may only allow 2 or 3 tents/ swags. It's a rural property, expect a weeds within the pastures.

This site is only suitable for Self Contained RV Campers with their own toilet/ shower facilities. A long strip of waterfront land is available for camping. Campers needs to follow direction signs to the camping sites. The number of campers is restricted to 4 only per campsite site to ensure each campers gets their private space. A minimum of 40 m gap is required between each camper to ensure the each camper group have their personal own space. Family groups and well behaved pets are welcome. Please note, we have unfenced livestock (Sheep and Alpacas) at the property around the camp sites.

Nestled with the beautiful surroundings of Coorong right on the banks of Lake Albert is this unique Yarli retreat where you can escape the hustle and bustle of life and stay inside a fully fitted out RV. You’ll have all the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen, a living area, a comfortable queen bed and a full bathroom along with a BBQ, hammock and a firepit all overlooking the lake. Stay only 7 mins from Meningie and an easy, scenic drive to the stunning Coorong National Park. Tucked away on a farm by beautiful Lake Albert and surrounded by nature is this spacious RV offering peace and quiet with nothing but space to spread out, relax and unwind. Make your way inside the RV and take in the classic interior design, the soft comfortable furnishings and all of the creature comforts of home waiting for you to enjoy. Sit back on the plush sofa after a day spent exploring the nearby trails or kayaking on the lake while you catch up on all your favorite shows and movies on the wall mounted Smart TV with free WiFi to keep you connected. The compact kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you could need to cook up breakfast lunch and dinner along with a BBQ outside for extra grilling space. There is a fridge/freezer, a small oven and stovetop and a built in microwave along with pots, pans, utensils and plenty of bench space. Enjoy meals together at the dining table inside overlooking the lake, or head outside and enjoy alfresco dining with an outdoor table right by the water while you watch free roaming wildlife, llamas and alpacas graze in the fields. The bedroom space features a comfortable queen-sized bed topped with soft, quality bedding along with plenty of space for you to unpack and make yourself at home with overhead, side storage and even outlets to charge your phone while you slumber. Off the bedroom is the full bathroom with a walk in shower, a toilet, a washing machine and a vanity stocked with all the essentials you could need and soft fluffy towels for each guest. The RV while secluded is still only seven minutes from the heart of Meningie giving you the best of both worlds. In the town you can stock up on supplies at the Foodland, eat out at the café or grab a drink at Freshies and sample the local cuisine. Venture a little further to discover the Coorong National Park or simply hang up the car keys and spend your afternoons lazing in the hammock (DIY hammock kept in caravan storage until needed) and your evenings with a bottle of wine gathered around the warm firepit as you watch the breathtaking sunsets reflect across the water. A few pros and cons. The site itself is quite confusing—it’s not clear where you’re meant to set up camp, and there isn’t much flat ground to choose from. It felt a bit overpriced for what is essentially just a patch of dirt for the night. On the plus side, it’s a quiet spot and the kids loved seeing the animals. It has a peaceful vibe that’s great if you’re after a simple, no-frills camping experience.

This place was beautiful! Quiet, secluded and peaceful. Our family had a great time, sitting by the fire enjoying the kids do some fishing. The kangaroos made a brief appearance and we were also greeted by some livestock. A great place to be off grid for a couple of days!

A quiet camp not far from town. Good TV and internet connections. Recommend camping down in the gulley next to the trees if it is very windy.

Local caravan park is cheaper and offers full facilities. This Hipcamp was overpriced for what was on offer. Minimal shelter, piles of manure everywhere. Could be better maintained.

I was expecting access to the water from the camp-site this was not the case and my expectations were greatly disappointed when i got there as this is what the pictures looked like, i wanted to leave. There is 2 access points, 1 was located at camp-site 2 and there was people camping directly next 2 it which felt like we would be imposing on their privacy or they could watch you the whole time u fish so we didn't use it and the other one was located near the house, about 50 metres or so away. This is a good spot to fish or kayak but a 2 minute walk from the camp. This was $45 a night with no facilities and I thought I was paying for the water access but not the case. The frontage of the water is coved with reeds and not accessable, this is most 95% of the area. It was quiet and clean but it's covered in poo from the animals and i also assumed we would be more secluded from others but everyone is quite close to eachother. You also cannot pat the animals they are not that kind of pet. There was a camp-site 5 metres away and 10 metres away. There are a few camps further away but no water access, its further away, 5 minute walk. U have more space here than at a caravan park but at a park u have access to more. If u dont want to step in poo the whole trip don't come here, its everywhere u step. I have gone free camping on the river a few times which was better than this, wouldn't go again sorry guys, I felt like I could get the same or better for free.

Had a great time with our dog who was able to be off lead and had a ball with the other dogs staying there. We parked our HiAce van right in front of the lake and could fish right out the front. Owners left everyone to do their thing and the animals on site stayed closer to the house. Super windy location so awnings and gazebos aren't useable this time of yr (mid April).

Beautiful farm, animals wandering about, a lovely outlook, little table and chairs scattered about to chill, magic views of the sunrise and set. Wind blew hard for us so we couldn’t take full advantage but would definitely recommend.

We parked our caravan on a waterfront site with great views of the lake. . Easy access for our large van. Friendly Alpacas and sheep wandering around added to the atmosphere.

Awesome spot, big open sites with plenty of room. The water is shallow, perfect for young kids and basic kayaking etc. being shallow and calm it’s also relatively warm. A couple of different areas for camping, and also for access to the water. Close to Meningie for quick shops, toilets and cafes. You need to be self contained.

We loved the friendly alpacas. I particularly loved kayaking and the peaceful gorgeous sunsets. We enjoyed some yabbies, shrimp and fish. Thank you to the friendly hosts- We look forward to a repeat visit.

We loved camping at the Coorong Island Retreat. We stayed at Site 6 so close to the lake and the fishing was great! Kids loved the animals and we loved how peaceful and calm it was. We will definitely be coming back!

We enjoyed the 3 nights we stayed, especially getting so close to the animals. The sites are clearly marked out with plenty of space for each. We got there on a windy day so unfortunately needed to pick a site less exposed which didn't have as nice a view as some of the other sites. Only 5min drive from town with a good skate park for the kids and dog park for the dogs nearby.

Great location, easy enough go get into the park itself but 2WD caravans need to be careful of the soft sand. We got bogged 2m off the road - my fault, not the owners. Free range alpacas and sheep were a nice touch. Would definitely come back.

Lovely quiet spot. The kids loved seeing the animals at our campsite. We loved the pretty outlook from our van. Only a quick drive into town if you need anything aswell. Thank you for having us!

Great location right on lake Albert. Wind was a pain, particularly for campervans. Sites were closer together than expected. Would definitely stay there again.

Grassy site right on the lake front. Very quiet with some friendly alpacas. The location was great to explore the Coorong and surrounds. Highly recommend if you are ok off-grid as no water, power or bins.

Stayed for a few days, lake was beautiful unfortunately due to the weather we couldn't enjoy it to much. But there was such long grass around the lake we couldn't get close, and even when sitting out from of our caravan we couldn't see the lake. The kayaks cost hire just as much as a night to stay, which i believe was a a bit much considering there wasn't much else to do about the farm Otherwise the alpacas were cute, but more than 2 days was enough.

Very pretty property, we camped at Site 5 which was one of the individual sites. It was quite windy as was to be expected next to the lake but if you come prepared for that it’s no worries. Easy to find and pick a spot with the camp site map. We arrived late and left early so we didn’t see anyone but the sheep and alpacas. The sites are spaced far enough apart to be private and we didn’t hear any of the other campers. Thank you for the stay!
