Avondale is a working family farm located perfectly between both the beautiful Clare Valley and picturesque Barossa. Located approximately 11 kms from Riverton and an hour north of Adelaide. Our campground consists of 6 designated van sites with a central fire pit. Individual fire buckets and wood can be provided at an extra charge ($25). Our camping sites are located in a picturesque tree lined gully. A precious slice of untouched beauty. Please don’t help yourself to our trees (no chainsaws). As we are a working farm, with sheep and alpacas surrounding the campsite, dogs must remain on lead at all times. It is also dog owners responsibility to cleanup after their pets. Please also remain on designated tracks to walk along. Views of sunsets from the top of the hill are breathtaking. Please also always leave gates as you find them. The local council district provides cafes, amazing pub food (our personal favourite, The Tarlee Hotel), bakeries and push bike tracks. Not to mention wineries. Generators are welcome, but please be respectful of fellow campers. No motorbikes to be ridden on property, but push bikes welcome. There is currently no toilet or potable water available.

We loved our time at Avondale. Such a beautiful property and the hosts were lovely. There was so much space for the kids to walk around and explore and they loved seeing the animals on the property and all the wildlife. Our site had a number of flat patches to set up and would be suitable for more then 1 families to camp together. We will be back for sure 😃

Lovely hosts! We loved every minute of our camp. Lots of room and level site for the caravan, beatiful views and our boy loved the sheep and kangaroos. Very easy access straight from the main acees route. Only one other family there but far enough away that we barely noticed them

A Great find in between the Clare and Barossa wine regions. Friendly,Welcoming hosts, abundant wood available for camp fires and plenty of room. Very much looking forward to a future stay.

Hosts were friendly and helpful. Peaceful and very quiet. Short walks available. Plenty of room for large groups as well. Only an 1-1 1/2 hours from Adelaide. We will be back. Thank you.

Really enjoyed our time at Avondale Heights Campground. The site was large with good amounts of places to park in full sun with lots of beautiful shaded spots with big beautiful gums throughout the property. The wildlife the sunsets the tranquility is perfect for those who want to disconnect and sit back and relax and enjoy nature. Thank you so much to Karly, Kevin and Sue who made us feel so welcome….. can’t wait to get back to Avondale.

We had a fantastic stay at Avondale. It’s an easy drive north of Adelaide, making it perfect for a quick and relaxing getaway. Our site had six perfectly level campsites set around a central fire pit, tucked along a treeline that leads down to a creek—such a peaceful spot. There are no facilities at this stage, so you’ll need to be fully self‑contained, but that added to the quiet, off‑grid feel for us. Karly, our host, gave us a warm welcome, and Kevin and Sue also dropped by to say hello and check that we were enjoying our stay. We really appreciated being able to bring our pets along (on leads respecting the livestock nearby) and having the freedom to explore the property with them. Overall, a very relaxing weekend surrounded by nature. For a relatively new campsite, Avondale is already doing a great job—definitely recommended to visit and we’d happily return. We were welcomed by Karly and

Awesome site with a very convenient location for anyone wanting to explore the Clare or Barossa Valley. Super friendly hosts. Site felt very private (we were the only ones there). Lovely views from the hill and great stars. Would absolutely book again.
