Overpriced field with potholes

Don’t stay here. The area is beautiful and the little pond next to the camp is nice, but the ‘wild horse retreat’ is just a grass field full of potholes, the horses were all tied to posts, the toilet was filthy and could only be reached by stepping through and over a big mess in the shed, and the whole place just felt eerie. Only the dog was a cute host. I understand hipcamp is about staying in or near someone’s home, but don’t sell it as a ‘retreat’ when it is very clearly not. It definitely has potential for a beautiful hipcamp, but right now we could have saved ourselves the VERY overpriced $50 for this camp.

Michael was very welcoming upon arrival, and had many beautiful horses roaming around which we LOVED, beautiful small creek just down from our camp site. Super friendly farm puppy who was very happy to just hangout! Perfect overnight stay.

Upon booking, you don’t get to see which sites are what - you’re essentially booking a random spot which could be small or large and the host chooses on arrival. On arrival, the host was not very warm and welcoming and the place did not look very welcoming either. We were taken past some nice open spots and given a narrow archway under trees and with roots sticking up everywhere which made it difficult to set up camp anywhere. We were closer to other campsites than originally expected which made it feel less private like we were wanting. The highway noise was also very noticeable, it was louder than the wildlife at night time. Photos are a bit misleading for the area. We only stayed one night out of the 3 we booked and left to go home.

Overall experience was okay, but we never found the toilets and nobody showed us around. Untidy and looking like an abandoned house… Michael showed up during night time saying one of our cars had to leave as we were trespassing and insurance wouldn’t cover any damages?! We were 4 people having a barbecue next to our fire pit… What could’ve gone wrong with another car parked next to us? Made us feel uncomfortable and almost willing to leave that one night we were staying. Wouldn’t come back as we didn’t feel it was a pleasant stay for a longer time than 1 night. Not worth the money you spend…

Host unprofessional and over priced

This experience was nothing as expected. The host was not honest as the photos that were advertised were nothing like the place. Not well kept and as well as the host advertised that the camp site was accessible by all vehicles which was not true as another person who had booked with us had a smaller car and could not access the property as there are many dips and bumps the bumper and beneath the car would get destroyed the host then refused refund and began to get confrontational to myself and the people I was camping with telling us it’s a “her problem and not his” and was talking to us very unprofessionally then further more drove to were we were camped and brought a beat up, small car that wasn’t as low as the original car that could not get in and the host said “here’s your proof seeing as youse don’t want to believe me” no one responded as the car was no proof considering is wasn’t as low as the original and was obviously used for bush then the host sat in his car for around 30 seconds to a minute staring waiting for a reaction mind you we also had 3 kids so no one wanted the argument. Also paying a lot of money to be beside the high way and in a location that was trashed, horribly looked after and not cared for, the toilet also had no latch on the inside. In conclusion the host is unkind and not professional and the location is not worth the price you’re paying.

Lovely spot. Our site overlooked the lagoon, which was very pretty. Little bit of road noise as it was just off the highway. The roaming horses were great. Went about their business and we went on with our day.

Nice little spot to base yourself out of or just enjoy the view for the night. Yes, you can hear the highway but it's not terrible. I have no idea where the toilet was so would advise to bring your own. Beautiful and easy going horses wondering around qnd a very friendly old farm dog who visited everyone. I did a solo camp and I thought it was fine. Bear in mind the farm looks a bit run down on entry so don't expect aesthetically pleasing entry, I'm just happy to support a farmer 😁

We had a great peaceful weekend here. Heaps of horses to watch and talk to, plenty of bird life. Went for a good walk around the back of property. Creek has heaps of water in it, our old dog wouldn’t get out. She had a great time. Over all great place to stay.. Micheal was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be going back. Little bit of Highway noise at the back of the property but I didn’t really notice it too much.

The tiger king did not respond to my request for 12 hours so I had to book somewhere else to make sure I actually had somewhere to camp . I asked him to cancel the request before it was confirmed, the tiger king then replied to an earlier question and confirmed the booking. Pretty bad form i think …
