We spent one night at Ups and Downs. Karen and Gary met us at the gate and showed us the options for sites (options are endless!). It was quiet, pretty and (as we were the only ones there) private. A glorious afternoon and evening!

Karen was so welcoming and met us personally to welcome us and show us our options for setting up camp next to the lovely lagoon. We had daily visits from the friendly cows and the site was so quiet apart from the lovely birdsong. Easy drive to Mackay with couple of pubs a short drive away.

Great size land, undulating grassy ground with shadey spots down by the lagoon. No mozzies, friendly farm animals. 15 mins to town, no light polution.

A lovely quiet camp spot overlooking the lagoon, feels like you are out bush when really you’re close to home (Mackay for us). Booked very last minute, thanks to Karen and Garry for being so accomodating, we will be back!!

Karen and Garry are absolute legends and have an amazing property to share. Pat the cows and swim in the lagoon, have a fire and kick back with an awesome sunset.

Karen & Garry were very helpful in showing us prospective camp sites and we settled on one overlooking a lovely lagoon. Perfect property for self contained campers. Very obliging hosts and would certainly return without hesitation. BYO wood and off ground fire unit. Loved our stay.

This was a great place to camp up! Gary and Karen were great hosts. Plenty of room for our camper. There is loads of wildlife around. We saw rakali in the lagoon!! It’s the first time I’ve seen this species!! I would suggest no fishing in the lagoon as it provides the rakali with food and shelter. Plenty of mozzies around so make sure you cover up and bring repellent.

A great place to stay, very peaceful and relaxing, we stayed on the lagoon and enjoyed the tranquility and bird life. Karen and Garry were great hosts friendly and accommodating. We only stayed 1 night but wish we could have stayed longer.

Overall, a nice place. We were able to fill the vans with potable (bore) water on arrival, which was very handy. It's a farm, so cow manure and grass are expected, but the area we had to set up on to get a non-shaded spot had a bit too much of both. Also, it would be better to have a dedicated access way rather than having to open and close a farm gate to get in and out of the site. Other than that, a nice place and not too far out of Mackay if shopping for supplies is required.

Good place to kick back and relax. Nice camping near pond but unfortunately has a lot of shade. We set up in paddock away from pond so had good sun for solar. Quite close to Mackay (about 20 mins). Gary was more then helpful

What a great place to stay. We set the caravan up alongside the lagoon. Easy to manoeuvre the caravan into position. Very peaceful. Definitely would stay again.

Just had a lovely quiet weekend at Ups and downs . The lagoon was so peaceful Garry look after us well , bringing in our firewood , helping us pick camp etc .
We would definitely visit again .

Great bushland spot. Close enough to Mackay for supplies but far enough away to give you a feeling of true remoteness. The hosts Karen and Gary were so friendly and accommodating. Would not hesitate to recommend. Will be back there ourselves if we get the chance.

What a beautiful place. Garry was there to greet us on arrival and showed us to our camp spot by the lagoon. Easy access for our 20.6ft van. Loved the horses and cows that came to visit and hang around the property. Easy access to Mackay about 15mins drive away. Very peaceful, great hosts and highly recommend this place.

I loved tent camping at Ups and Downs. Karen is so welcoming and her dog Molly is so friendly. Just a beautiful, quiet area. So stunning and simple. We would love to stay again and would reccommend to everyone!

Ups & Downs is a beautiful spot. Nice grassy sites, a beautiful billabong nearby, friendly cattle and horses to pat and feed, our dogs didnt have to be on a lead 24/7. It was a lovely long weekend away with friends. No road noise, no daily stresses. This place is close to Mackay but far enough away to forget. Definately recommend visiting.
