PLEASE READ ALL SITE INFORMATION BEFORE SUBMITTING A BOOKING REQUEST. REQUESTS THAT DON’T PROVIDE THE REQUIRED INFORMATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. When submitting a booking request you MUST include the following information: Your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer/caravan etc), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if booking an Elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Some sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. THESE ARE THE ONLY SITES THAT CARAVANS CAN ACCESS. The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent. We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top. Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking. We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you. All camp fires must be fully extinguished with water prior to departure.

The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). Whilst 4WD recommended, most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. We had a few days at Stonesthrow Bush Camping, Canungra had everything - creek dips, the world’s friendliest donkeys, horses up on the top plateau, dogs able to live their best off-lead life, and sunrises/sunsets that made us slow right down. Huge shoutout to the hosts - absolute legends. Warm, welcoming, and the kind of people who make you feel like you’ve been coming there for years.

We loved our stay over the weekend. Steve and Richard were very helpful. We had a great spot with a loveltly view, we explore the property on foot and we loved to met the horses and donkeys. We would denifinely recomend and most likely to return in another oportunity. The nature and peace and quite moments were priceless. Our family had a great time. Thank you.

We had a great time camping at Stonesthrow. Steve was quick to respond to questions we had and his arrival instructions and directions were excellent. We stayed at the TOS site and it suited our group well. The site was private and very relaxing and clean. We took a hike throughout the farm and enjoyed the challenge of walking to the Top Spot while seeing some other sites that we hope to stay at another time. We are looking forward to returning in the future.

Very friendly hosts. So nice to be so close to the roaming horses & donkeys. We chose a large campsite, with heaps of space. The lawns were freshly mowed. We had a great time, and made memories over the Australia Day long weekend 2026. Definitely recommend this place !

A great long weekend stay at Stonesthrow. We do not drive 4wd so we're restricted to the lower camping sites but that was no hardship. Camped along the creek, which sadly was not running due to lack of rain, on a lovely level, shady site. A short walk to composting toilets and basic facilities which were very useful. Loved the farm animals, especially the adorable donkeys. We walked up the property to take in the views and if you have the right vehicle the camp sites up the top are the pick as the views are 180 degree magnificent. Steve and Richard and family are welcoming hosts and will do what they can to ensure you have a great stay.

My daughter and I had an amazing two nights at Stonethrow. The individual sites are huge and exceptionally beautiful. Steve and Richard both made us feel welcome. We were in a 2WD but we opted for a large space across a short creek crossing for the first night. When a storm was predicted for the second night, it was no problem allowing us to move back to a lovely spot, right on the creek. We will definitely return, hopefully with my wife and second daughter next time. Can’t rate this property highly enough.

Amazing views at the top campsite. Great hosts giving us directions, had firewood available. There was horses and cows roaming the property while we camped and one of the horses was so tame and approachable, which added to the great experience. One of the hipcamps I will remember to come back to.

we want to thank richard and his family for the most beautiful and peaceful stay at this campsite. the feeling you get here is only described like being at home. it’s such a warm and welcoming aura and we were actually sad to leave. when we first arrived we were greeted by richard and his beautiful daughter essence who showed us up to camp on their bike followed by their gorgeous dogs chasing them behind the sunset. richard also helped my boyfriend josh overcome his fear of snakes by introducing us to their fellow garden friend and let him have a hold. we will miss this place but are lucky we stumbled across it and made some special memories.

Wow, where do we start. We had the most amazing time at Stonesthrow campsite. Steve, Richard, and the whole family (including donkeys, cows, horses and goats) welcomed us with open arms. Stonesthrow is absolutely beautiful and such a good location to get to Mount Tamborine or a little further afield to Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Best campsite we’ve stayed at so far in Australia, we will be back!

This place is a hidden gem and so close to Brisbane and GC for a quick getaway. It’s easy to find and the land is beautiful and well maintained. Very few places allow off leash dogs (as long as you have them under control), have access to water and seclusion all in one. Highly recommend this place.

We loved Stonethrow and thanks to the owners for making it a warm and welcoming reception. Lovely camp stop, close to Brisbane and Gold Coast. While we camped in the bushy section, the site has beautiful grassy area which is great for kids - we’ll try those sites next time. Thanks Steve and Richard.
