Mostly flat grassed and treed paddock, beside fresh running creek. Pizza oven and wood fired bbq available for guests. 10 mins from Fernvale, close to Wivenhoe Dam, 30 mins to Somerset Dam. Caravan, RV and boat access, no 4WD required. Enjoy the bird life as you wander the gardens. Fire pit available, own toilet and drinking water required. Non-potable water available. Property has unfenced creek access so unsuitable for small children. Our campsite is a spacious, mostly flat grassy paddock with plenty of trees, set beside a crystal-clear, babbling creek. Just 10 minutes from Fernvale and Wivenhoe Dam, and a short drive from Somerset Dam, it's the ideal spot for RVs, caravans, and boats—no 4WD required (unless you just want to look cool). Birdwatchers, take note! You'll love wandering through the gardens with the local wildlife as your soundtrack. And on a hot summer’s day, there’s nothing better than cooling off in the refreshing, steady flow of the creek—just like nature’s own air conditioner. Feel free to fire up the wood BBQ or pizza oven, and for those perfect campfire moments, your very own fire pit awaits. Just bring your best marshmallow-roasting skills. A quick heads-up: we don’t have toilets, so don’t forget to pack your portaloo or maybe a trusty shovel if you’re feeling adventurous. Oh, and as much as we love kids, the unfenced creek means it’s probably not the best spot for little ones to run wild. Come for the peace and quiet, stay for the good vibes (and maybe a pizza or two)!

Girls Get-Away to Lush Paradise

I took two of my closest girlies for a getaway at Split Yard Creek, and we loved it! The property is lush and peaceful, despite the close proximity of the road, and the hosts and their doggos are so lovely! It's the perfect place to unplug for ladies looking for some peace and quiet away from family/work/responsibility - there is nooooo reception !! Reset your rhythm by falling asleep to the sounds of nature, featuring the creek itself, and wake gently to the birds singing and the sun rising through the trees, or to the sounds of the rain. There are plenty of ways to relax, like reading and napping and snacking in the hammock under the willow tree, or cozying up around the fire, but also enough to do to keep moving, including exploring the property, or wandering the Sunday flea market at Fernvale. There are no amenities, so byo or be prepared to go bush. Absolutely recommend and will definitely be back!

A little piece of paradise. Nice and shady with a creek running through the property. No Internet meant a great opportunity to disconnect and relax. A great spot to stay during summer with the creek and shade, but the fire pit would be lovely during winter. The hosts were welcoming and left me in peace. As a solo traveller it was nice to know they were there if needed. I’d love to stay there again so I can check out more in the area. So much to do.

Very relaxing and peaceful, beautiful area. Richard was great, nothing was too much trouble, we tried our first stone baked pizza in the out door pizza oven…. Very reasonable price

Great property with lots of space in the shade of some trees. There’s a little stream running through some rocks, which was great to fall sleep to. You might hear a bit of road noise as you’re pretty close, but it dies down to nothing by evening. Jen and Richard were really nice people and came around make sure everything was going well. Would definitely recommend for a few quiet beers around a fire.

I had a great timing camping at Split Yard camp ground. A nice tidy single site on a beautiful block of land that blends bush and rainforest vibe. My friends and I enjoyed the experience of cooking pizzas in the woodfired pizza oven. Thanks Richard and Jen

Richard and Jen are amazing hosts, with a spectacular property. Total bliss. The tropical surrounds and wildlife made for an incredible escape from reality. We even had the chance to take our outdoor projector for its maiden voyage! Can’t wait until next visit!

Richard and Jen are awesome hosts . perfect start for a first time hipcamp. I'll be back for sure!! Wonderful place and so much more to explore .. I'll be stopping in at place 10 mins down the road to camp for free . Only 20 hours allowed but a great find to extend my holiday. even though i'm suposed to be at work lol. I could honestly stay here indefinenetly but i'd wear out my welcome , Those 2 big dogs are adorable . I felt blessed to be there . Its a gift from Richard and Jen really

Beautiful surroundings, Richard & Jen are the nicest hosts and nothing was a problem. We had fun making pizzas in the Pizza Oven & listening to the creek bubbling away & all the bird life. Had a great bonfire. Other than some early morning road noise was a perfect long weekend!

Stayed 3 nights camping next to the creek in the paddock at Split Yard Creek. Lovely location for a weekend, went to the Fernvale markets on Sunday but otherwise just lazed around doing nothing. Very pretty, shady campsite, would be perfect for a large group camp.

Amazing weekend away on Richard's land a stone's throw from Wivenhoe with so many beautiful options for a day trip. We chose to visit Northbrook Gorge which was only a 25 minute drive. The hospitality, upkeep of the site and the added bonus of a backyard hike up for a sunset view of Wivenhoe followed by a creek dip made for a perfect weekend getaway! Highly recommend 👌

Enjoyed my stay at Slack Creek. The area was amazing and Richard was a very nice host welcoming us onto his land and explaining what we were able to do in the area. His directions as well was helpful to find the camp-site. The camp-site was close to Fernvale and wivenhoe. Overall great camp-site for friends and family.

The hospitality is Incredible, you genuinely feel as if you need anything you knock on their door and ask. Super Inviting and friendly with great knowledge of the area. I was lucky to have been shown a great walking trail with a view of wivenhoe dam you won't get anywhere else. Firewood provided as well is an amazing touch.
