Mahon Hives Retreat at Avondale Farm Welcome to Mahon Hives Retreat at Avondale Farm. Nestled in the Western Downs, our property is a revival of the historic "Avondale Farm." We are currently establishing an off-grid, self-sufficient homestead and invite self-contained travelers to share in the peace and quiet of our journey. The Experience: "Mahon Hives" represents our future vision for apiaries and nature-based living. Currently, we offer spacious, peaceful sites for self-contained caravans, buses, and RVs. It is a true farm retreat—quiet, safe, and surrounded by the sounds of the bush. Our Story: I live on-site in my converted bus and am passionate about bringing this land back to its roots. Guests are parking in the heart of a working project where we are building gardens, planning hives, and living off-grid. What to Expect: • Wide Open Space: Plenty of room to turn around and find a level spot. • Peace & Quiet: As a "Retreat," we prioritize tranquility. No loud parties—just nature. • Safety: I am on-site to ensure your stay is secure and enjoyable.

Completely off-grid with shower and water available, I'm currently living in a bus on the land and putting time into creating an off-grid sustainable living environment. 🫛 🍠 🌽 I was a chef for 20+ years and enjoy indirect outdoor cooking, happy to team up with someone to help make life a bit more affordable 🔥🥘 Accommodation is set at a 3 month maximum stay, with written approval needed to reset accommodation allowance. No fires another than in the communal area fire pit, currently located near the dam. (As of 30 November 2025).

Starlink is available. I have approximately 2 acres cleared with a 2 lengths of a Slashers width fire break around the property but currently no fencing that will keep animals in. I will be looking to clear more land (undergrowth mainly) within restrictions and make a bigger dam. I have water pumps and a fire hose for small emergencies, protection and for helping others in the community if needed. I've spent years travelling and living out of my car at many Hipcamps just like mine while working away. I'm just offering people that are in the same boat as I was an opportunity to get ahead or for travellers to drop in for short visits and eat chefs cooking*
