Hidden Valley Cabins & Tours is a family-owned and operated eco-tourism destination in the bushland of North Queensland. Owned by Steve and Sonia Ellery, alongside their daughter Tahlia Harlow and son-in-law Kurt Harlow, our family has proudly welcomed guests for over 35 years. Our off-grid property offers a range of accommodation, including Deluxe Cabins, Rustic Cabins, budget rooms and camping/RV sites, providing a peaceful escape surrounded by native bushland and abundant wildlife. We specialise in authentic, nature-based experiences, offering guided Platypus Safaris, Nocturnal Wildlife Safaris, UNESCO World Heritage Paluma Rainforest Tours, birdwatching, Wallaman Falls adventures and customised eco-tours. Led by ECO Certified Guide Kurt Harlow, our experiences focus on conservation, sustainability and showcasing the unique biodiversity of North Queensland. Hidden Valley also hosts wellness retreats, corporate retreats, school camps, educational programs, intimate weddings, venue hire and private events. We provide tailored accommodation, catering, transport and activities to suit each group’s needs. As a fully off-grid business powered by renewable energy, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to create memorable experiences that connect people with nature, encourage environmental appreciation and showcase the beauty, wildlife and rich natural heritage of North Queensland.RV & Camper Bushland Stopover Looking for a peaceful place to rest between Townsville, Charters Towers, and Ingham? Please note there are no powered sites or water hookups, however guests have access to shared public toilets and hot showers, Wi-Fi, and a range of resort amenities, including the pool, BBQ areas, and communal spaces. Why not turn your overnight stop into an unforgettable experience? Guests are warmly invited to join one of our guided tours (subject to availability), including platypus safaris, nocturnal wildlife tours, rainforest adventures, birdwatching, and more. Getting Here – Road Access & Travel Information Hidden Valley Cabins & Tours can be accessed via three different routes. Due to ongoing roadworks in the region, please read the following information before travelling. Via Mount Spec Road (through Paluma) – Most Popular Route * Mount Spec Road is currently operating under an hourly escort system from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. * An escort convoy departs on the hour from both the top and bottom of the mountain every hour between these times. * Please allow a little extra travel time to meet the convoy departure. Via Hervey Range Road * This route adds approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to your journey but is a beautiful scenic drive with excellent opportunities to spot wildlife. * It is generally the most reliable option during the wet season, as it is less affected by closures and restrictions. * If you’re unsure which route is best, please don’t hesitate to contact us before travelling. Via Mount Fox Road (from Cairns or Ingham) * Mount Fox Road is also currently undergoing roadworks; however, it is currently open with no travel restrictions. * For the latest updates, please refer to the Hinchinbrook Shire Council road closure information. * This is another spectacular drive with rainforest scenery and abundant wildlife. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a Southern Cassowary along this route. Before You Travel * Please fill your fuel tank before heading up. There are no service stations once you leave the surrounding towns. * We also recommend purchasing any groceries or general supplies beforehand, as these are not available locally. * Mobile phone reception is extremely limited throughout the area, so download maps or directions before your trip if needed. * Our region is surrounded by working cattle stations, so please drive carefully and watch for cattle on the roads. * Wildlife is abundant, particularly at dawn and dusk, so please drive cautiously and enjoy the experience safely. If you have any concerns about road conditions before your visit, please contact Hidden Valley Cabins & Tours. We’re always happy to provide the latest local advice and help you choose the best route for your journey.

Pull-in site
About the Site Our RV and camper sites are located within the resort’s shared bitumen and gravel driveway/car park. The sites are mostly level, providing a convenient and comfortable overnight stop for self-contained travellers. You are welcome to pull in or reverse into your space, whichever is easiest for your setup. If you’re travelling with a larger motorhome, caravan, fifth wheeler, or towing a trailer, we kindly ask that you let us know the type, length, and size of your setup, along with your estimated arrival time (ETA). This allows us to allocate the most suitable space with enough room for turning and manoeuvring, while also planning parking for our accommodation guests, tour buses, and other visitors. A turnaround bay is available if required, and we’ll do our best to ensure your arrival and departure are as easy and stress-free as possible. While this isn’t a traditional campground, it offers a safe, peaceful bushland stopover with convenient access to shared amenities, making it an ideal place to break up your journey between Townsville, Charters Towers, Ingham, and just 20 minutes from the beautiful Paluma Rainforest.
