In Queensland, just north of the NSW border, in the Running Creek area of the "Scenic Rim". The nearby National Park is Mt Chinghee, which is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. We have grassed valleys and forested hills, which provide the perfect setting for bush walking, bird watching, star gazing, or just relaxing. All of our camp sites are well separated from each other. If it's total seclusion and privacy you're after, "Fig Tree" and "Ridge Top" would be perfect for you. While "The Old Hut", and "Washout" are closer to the road, they are not visable to each other. Our newest addition., "The Reserve" is tucked away on the banks of a special shady grassed area with lots of room to spread out. Guests staying with us must have their own toilet/shower facilities and take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. The sites are accessible for 4WD only. Get back to nature and explore. Many native animals have been spotted on the property wallabies, possums, echidnas, goannas, bandicoots, dingos, and koalas as well as a large variety of birds. Also a variety of frogs i.e.. Red/orange eyed tree frog, desert tree frog, white lipped tree frog, striped and spotted marsh frogs, striped rocket frog and stoney creek frogs. ( see how many different calls you can hear) This beautiful 200acre property in Camp Creek is part of the original "selection" by William Dimmock in 1895. It was a dairy farm, and at one stage the family grew market garden crops on a plateau high up the mountain, using a flyingfox to bring the crops down. Originally the property took in "Screw Gully" from Glenapp up to Tartar Creek Rd. In the 60's Jim Dimmick (grandson to William) sold out and the land was sub-divided. The property now supports up to 40 head of breeding cattle and 2 retired horses. Scenic Rim hosts local wineries; restaurants and coffee shops, and Mt Tamborine, all within an hour drive. Only a 1.5 hour drive to the Gold Coast.

Quite and private campsite surrounded by hills. The ground gently slopes. Only a small area level enough for tents. Larger vans will need to use levelling devices. (21ft Vans have no trouble doing this) Fig Tree Hollow, as the name suggests, has several huge fig trees nearby (one with climbing bars fixed at shoulder height in 1996 and now almost out of sight). Echidnas and Red Necked Pademelon have been spotted here, as well as the Richmond Birdwing butterfly. *4WD vehicle is recommended for access, however in dry conditions all wheel SUV's and cars with higher clearance can access the site. * Must have self contained toilet. (no holes to be dug) A $50 "CLEAN-UP" FINE WILL BE CHARGED IF FAECES OR TISSUE/TOILET PAPER FOUND DUG INTO GROUND. Exploring the slopes of the vine forest, you might see a Scrub Turkey mound. The occasional farm vehicle, cattle may be around (all quite). Check with owner if the presence of cattle is a problem for you. Campfires are permitted in the fire pit provided, and are subject to local restrictions. If you bring your own wood, including kindling, please make sure it doesn't have nails, screws or staples in it. *For conservation, taking wood from the property for your fire is strictly forbidden. There may be some firewood at the site (either left from previous campers, or supplied by owner from clearing fallen timber, which will vary in burning quality.) Suitable for camper trailers and lighter camper vans. There a small rocky creek crossing and a small, but steep knoll to get to this site. Wet weather will affect access and departure. Must have a true off road vehicle if wet weather is expected. The name refers to the mini washouts and depressions in the creek, as over the years flood waters have rearranged its course.  There may be cattle around (all quite). Check with owner if the presence of cattle is a problem for you. Although your immediate camp site is kept cattle free. Campfires are permitted in the fire pit provided and are subject to local restrictions. You may bring your own firewood or I have wood for $15/bag. YOU MUST NOT NOT TAKE WOOD FROM THE PROPERTY. There may be some firewood at the site (either left from previous campers, or supplied by owner from clearing fallen timber, which will vary in burning quality.) **PLEASE NOT BURN WOOD WITH NAILS, SCREWS, STAPLES ETC. RV/tent site · Sleeps 22 · Vehicles under 15 m
This area is special - with a shady grassed area right next to a small tree lined rocky creek. Take the camp chair across to the semi-island which is surrounded by the little creek on three sides. Sit in the shade and relax while the kids play along the creek. This area is only accessable by foot and is safe for children to play under supervision. Tents can be placed here as well. The designated area for vehicles and campers/vans/trailers and vans is up on the bank of level ground, with room for multiple camp sites, overlooking the creek area. You will need to drive cross a small creek to access this camp site. If you bring your own wood, please ensure it is free of nails, screws or staples. *For conservation, taking wood from the property for your fire is strictly forbidden. There may be some firewood at the site (either left from previous campers, or supplied by owner from clearing fallen timber, which will vary in burning quality.)
