A paradise for nature lovers and those who like space to themselves (rare these days!). The property boasts close to 200 confirmed bird species, 24 amphibians and 19 native snake species. A beautiful rainforest creek runs the entire property length with multiple billabongs and walking trails that campers can enjoy. Our management priority is maintaining maximum species biodiversity for native plants and animals. We request campers are entirely self-sufficient and respect that we are a nature refuge, not a party camp. Leave no trace campers only. We only take one booking at a time so campers (and us!) have peace and quiet during your stay. Fire wood is cut and ready for use in the designated fire pits. Enjoy the dawn and dusk bird chorus, platypus watching in the creek, or other nature-based activities. No hunting or fishing of any kind as we are a nature refuge. No domestic pets. Arrival is strictly between 12noon and 6pm daily. No arrivals after dark due to wildlife on our roads. Wetherby Road is a dirt road but is fine for 2WD vehicles. We recommend coming off highway at Julatten State Primary School (Mcleans Bridge rd then left onto Wetherby Road) to stay on bitumen longer. Optional extras: onsite bird watching/nature/property tour with us or fresh farm eggs to add to your stay.Birder's Billabong is a very large grassy site easily accessible to caravans and camper trailers. The entire camp area is yours when you book, including four designated fire pits with cut firewood, two small billabongs onsite and a rainforest creek a short walk away. Wooden tables at three of the fire pits and a newly completed shelter onsite for campers. No running potable water at this site. Limited rainwater available at the camp shelter, but we recommend boiling well before use. Composting loo onsite, but we ask campers to bring their own toilet where possible. If you need anything, Rosi is at 1297, a few hundred metres from the camp. This camp is ideal for nature lovers, particularly birders, as our species list is extensive.
