This is a very well looked after place. Toilets and tank water.
I went to walk the rail trail and this campsite is in the middle between Kalpowar and Builyan ON the trail, very convenient.
I went during the week and was there 3 nights all by myself, AMAZING. The views are just beautiful. Graeme was very quick to answer and give me directions. Navigator sent me somewhere else LOL

Great place to camp. Awesome views. Quiet. First night just us. Second night only one other site BUT then the bicycle riders started coming about midnight! And kept coming! Bright lights and chatting from groups of riders. Maybe there was an event so bad timing? Oh well it is on the rail trail. Still a good camp.

Very nice camp. We loved it.
Loads of space, nice grass areas all slashed.
New, clean toilets, great mountain views,
Right on rail trail for hike/ride up to Dawes range tunnels, historic bridges and lookouts. Felt secure staying here even though we were only ones here.

Didn’t end up staying at this location as there were other campers there that used the pay box at that gate therefore did not show up when booking. Only one fire place at one end of the camp grounds and currently no shaded areas so we continued on and found another location and hardly any service so unable to cancel or booking at this site.

There was only one other camper using the site and we were able to have our own space. We also loved the access to the rail trail and the tunnels …. We were only camping 5m from the trail!! Loved the feeling of remoteness along with the peace and quiet that comes with making the effort to get there.

What an absolutely lovely place to camp.
There are lovely clean composting loos if you don’t have your own. Lovely caretakers who keep them in top notch condition.
Many trees have been planted and while small for now (literally planted only a few weeks ago), as they grow there will lots of opportunities for shade.
We camped in 4x4s roof top tents, and two in ground tents with a giant dog.
The area is rolling hills but we found a beautiful level spot with views all around.
A great spot for those passing through either by road vehicle, or those on the rail trail by foot, pedal or hoof power.

Builyan camp-site is a great launch point for the Tunnels Section of the BBIRT. The ladies at the corner shop were lovely. 😊🥤 Amenities at the community hall were clean. Bring $1 coins for the showers. No Optus mobile reception.

Absolutely great spot for rail trail enthusiasts, flat spots, amazing scenery, there was some burning off occuring which made it a bit smokey, we rode from here to and thru the rail tunnels.

I liked the easy access to the Rail Trail and other horse riding suitable trails, and I loved that there were toilet and shower facilities close by. The nearby cafe was a definite plus too.

New campsite at the start gate of the rail trail. Large level mowed sites suitable for large rigs and tents. Lots of tree planting. Large communal firepit and firewood. No amenities No bins Leave nothing behind, self contained required. Close to McConnell lookout perfect for sunrise or sunset. Highly recommend

We had a beautiful stay, the camping area is extremely well kept considering it is up kept by volunteers. Thanks to the the local community for a great camping spot.

This campsite is awesome, heaps of room and an amazing backdrop with a view of the range. We had a heap of rain the night we stayed here and there wasn't any puddles, bogging or flooding of the campsites which was great. Also a great spot to explore the rail trail and tunnels. Highly recommend.

This Rail Trail campground is fairly new, directions are non existent from the dirt road turnoff but it’s only a few hundred metres over the hill follow the road. Note if using WikiCamps the location dot is marking the turnoff, this is a better indication of the camp spot 24°36.096'S 151°18.878'E.
Run by the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail and thanks to all the hard work and time put in by this dedicated group of volunteers getting this attraction off the ground. The location is very picturesque with wooded hills all around the site and the rail trail going through the middle of the camp. From camp it’s 11km south to the Barrimoon Siding mostly up hill (suitable for fairly low level fitness) to the 6 tunnels, and then on to Kalpowar. The small section we rode is a good surface, well packed gravel, but the bridge is not safe to ride of walk.. As the rock cuttings get larger towards the top look out for fallen rocks and timber. The ride is spectacular, see the pictures. There is even 600m of wheelchair access from Barrimoon siding to the first tunnel, access through Kalpowar.
Going north it’s about 15km to Builyan via the trail. Back at Camp it is very peaceful, probably the quietest spot we have camped, bring everything and take everything back with you.

Mt Debateable
The camp was excellent for what we had planned. You’re right on the rail trail making cycling very convenient. The Burnett River is just a few minutes drive with great vehicle access on the south side via a track just up from the bridge. The area is quiet and flat. Whether riding on the rail trail or paddling the river the area is beautiful.

We tried to book mt debateable on the rail trail but it would only take us to Builyan siding - so we booked that. However we stayed at my debateable.
When is Hipcamp going to set up a link to camp at Mt Debatable?

I can’t really review because we didn’t find it. I’d clicked on the map link in the app and we found the rail trail (where the tunnels start) and found the Kalpowar camp site run by Qld Gov and just couldn’t bring ourselves to drive any further on those roads with a caravan on the back & no phone service. I’m sure it was nice though and shame we didn’t get there. The tunnels were great though, shaily rock on them so make sure to bring a spare tyre!

What’s not to love about this great camp site and the rail trail. Such a spectacular view from camp site - well mowed and maintained- camp wait to go back. Great for our dogs too !

I had a great wet camp at Golembil siding on the BBIRT. Camping is on a nicely grass hilltop with a fire pit and some freshly planted future shade trees. The rail trail boasts excellent views and some interesting engineering.
