If you love campfires, birdwatching, freshwater creeks, fishing, and solitude, come and share the quietness of our 300 acre offgrid homestead and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Tropical North Queensland surrounded by world heritage rainforest, hills, creeks, the Mulgrave River, and all the flora and fauna that abound here. Our shallow freshwater creeks are refreshing to explore and, for deep water swimming and kayaking, it's only a five minute drive to Babinda Crossing. Hikers can explore our headlands or venture further to dedicated hiking trails including scaling the 922 metre high Walsh's Pyramid that's only a ten minute drive away. Birdwatchers are spoiled for choice day and night, beautiful insects are in abundance, small native marsupials and reptiles are regularly seen, and the waterways are home to a variety of tropical fish as well as the occasional crocodile in the main river. We’re a great base location for exploring the area as we’re only 15 minutes to the town of Gordonvale and less than an hour to Cairns International Airport, the Great Barrier Reef and the Atherton Tablelands. Boaties can take the ten minute drive to Deeral Boat Ramp to launch their vessel and head down the Mulgrave River to Russel Heads and out to the Great Barrier Reef and islands.

This one acre private site is great for groups. Located at the junction of two rainforest creeks, it looks across farmland and forest to Walsh's Pyramid rising up from the rainforested foothills of the Gillies Range. Enjoy beautiful sunsets whilst sitting fireside and listening to the sounds of the bordering rainforest that is home to an abundance of flora, fauna, insects and reptiles. There is a fire pit on site (subject to restrictions). This is a great spot for photographers and birdwatchers to explore the surrounds or as a base for day trips further afield. Although the creeks are freshwater, you will need to have your own drinking water and toilet facilities. The Triangle is out of sight of other guests and is set well back from the quiet, no through road. Access is not typically suited to two wheel drive vehicles.

Look down into the beautiful Mulgrave River from this newly established site on the river paddock headland. The site has a fire pit (subject to restrictions) and is a 50 metre walk to The Sandy Bank, which is a shaded cleared area on a bend in the river. The river is under tidal influence but is fresh water at this point and is home for Barramundi and Mangrove Jack and Saltwater Crocodiles, so definitely no swimming in this area! There are several freshwater creeks in other areas of the property, but you will need to have your own drinking water and toilet facilities here. This is a great spot for photographers and birdwatchers to explore or as a base for day trips further afield. Your site will be on the headland of a grassed field, out of sight of other guests except when guests from nearby sites will pass by on their way to The Sandy Bank.

Look down from the tree lined high bank into Tanner’s Lagoon which is a home for native fish and reptiles. You can fish from this bank as this backwater of the Mulgrave River is fed by two rainforest creeks and is also in the upper tidal influence of the main river. You have a fire pit on site (subject to restrictions). This is a great spot for photographers and birdwatchers to explore or as a base for day trips further afield. There are several freshwater creeks on the property, but you will need to have your own drinking water and toilet facilities. You will have an acre at the edge of a grassed field near the tree line of the lagoon, out of sight of other guests, and over 100 metres from the house across the quiet, no through road.

This large private site is great for groups. Located at the crossing over a permanent rainforest creek, it looks across farmland and forest to the rainforested foothills of the Gillies Range. The Secret Garden is a secluded disused sugar cane paddock that is out of sight of other guests and is set well back from the quiet, no through road. Loved this little property! We changed spots after chatting to Margie on arrival as she said there was a spot we might see a croc! It was a lovely spot, with beautiful views around. Margie was very accommodating and helpful! Great spot to then Hike Walsh's Pyramid and check out Behana Creek. Would stay again

MAGICAL RECOVERY LOCATION

To be honest nothing stood out at 'Aloomba Homestead' Hipcamp, because it was simply amazingly magical all 'round, our type of Hipcamp. Mother Nature at her best, the birdlife was incredible, a very peaceful and calming location on the Mulgrave River within close proximity to Deeral boat ramp, where we launched our tinny and also topped up with water for our van. As for the hosts Margie & Richard, what a terrific down to earth couple, our kinda people, very genuine and open to a good old chin-wag. We hope they travel down our way to Cape Bridgewater in Victoria one day, so we can return their kindness. Top spot for our 10 day stay. 👌

This was a lovely spot with plenty of space for a group of 4 vans. Lovely grassed, private area and plenty of room for a fire. Margie was very friendly.

We loved our weekend at Aloomba Homestead. Margie was so welcoming and friendly & ensured we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. River site 1 was well maintained and perfect next to the river where we could fish, with a lovely mountain back drop. Thank you Margie & Richard. We will be back.

Great stay at The Triangle. We took our two big dogs and they had a wonderful relaxing time. Plenty of room to take them on walks and lovely creek running beside the camp spot. We will be back. Thanks Margie.

The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden was a time for us to chill and recharge after a 5 day trip north. We had the whole place to ourselves. Little brook on two sides and magnificent views on the other. Good communication from Hosts Margie and Richard. Need to be fully self sufficient. Public facilities and dump point 15 kms away.

Loved the tranquility of the area. We stayed on the river site and were the only ones there. Margie communicated well prior to our arrival and Richard was on hand to direct us to our site. Went fishing in the day and caught one brim . Margie and Richard came down and spend the evening with us , fishing and conversing by the fire. Margie was lucky enough to catch a Jack. If you are looking for a concrete slab and conveniences then this is not for you. If you enjoy views, serenity, bird life and fishing then it’s a great place to visit. Track along the river was a bit wet so take it slowly. Also please be croc aware as Clyde and his friends live there.

FQN at its finest. You won’t find any fauna or flora better than this on our planet. This spot, at the footings of Wooroonaran NP, nestled on the mighty Mulgrave river, is the best as it gets…be ready for it!

Amazing! The triangle was such a beautiful, delightful space. Surrounded by two connecting creeks, the sound of the trickling water was so tranquil and peaceful green and lush just what you want. . Such an enjoyable time ! Highly recommend this little piece of beauty .Margie was amazing so friendly and helpful. We will be back .
