The National Road Transport campground is situated behind the Museum on Norris Bell Ave, Alice Springs. Road Transport Historical Society Inc., a community-based organisation dedicated to the preservation of Australia's unique road transport heritage. The concept was born out of concern that most trucks from yesteryear were rusting away on rural properties and cattle stations. The museum now has a campground available at separate cost. Powered site from $30 Unpowered sites from $20. The museum operates Monday to Saturday from 9am-3pm . Closed Sundays. contact museum reception on 08 89527161 for all enquiries. Check in for campground before 3pm close.

This campground has basic amenities. A new toilet block has been built in our Turtle creek area of the campground with an accessible bathroom added giving it 5 showers and toilets plus a laundry with 2 washers available. The Birdsville area has a small older bathroom with 2 showers and 3 toilets available. The bathrooms are available for both powered and unpowered customers to use. Combination lock put on access gate each evening , with the code changed regularly and given to campers to access after hours. Powered and unpowered sites are available in various locations across the campground. It is pet friendly. We ask you keep pets on a leash. Accessible to caravans, RV/motorhomes, camper trailers, big rigs, and buses. ( limited powered sites available to bigger vehicles ) This is Alice Springs so there are insects like ants, mosquitos, and flies. We have an abundance of bird life and rabbits. The train line runs directly behind the campgrounds and is on a crossing, so the train horn is a common sound. Our campground facilities are maintained with the support of volunteers. Reception : open 9am-3pm week days , check website for weekend opening.
