Glencairn Estate Campground

We don’t usually leave negative reviews, but we feel it’s important to provide honest feedback for future travellers. We completely understand that the recent weather and rain were beyond the owners’ control, and we appreciate that. However, the access road had numerous potholes, was very narrow in sections, and offered very limited opportunities to turn around. For anyone travelling with a larger setup like our Chevy 2500 and 19.6ft caravan, it was quite difficult to navigate. The six campsites were also positioned extremely close together. This would probably work well if you were travelling as a group, but if you’re looking for space or privacy, it felt far too cramped. We also found there was quite a bit of vehicle traffic, with cars travelling to and from the cabins passing through multiple times during our stay, which took away from the peaceful camping experience we were expecting. The location itself is great and being close to Byron Bay is definitely a positive. Unfortunately, we also felt the views were quite different to how they appeared in the photos. While promotional images naturally show a property at its best, our experience on arrival didn’t reflect what we had anticipated. Considering the site layout, access, and overall experience, we felt the nightly rate was overpriced. We had originally booked and paid for three nights but made the decision to leave after the first night. We don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, and this is actually the first time.

We really liked the proximity of this camp to Byron Bay. It was well maintained and had a fire pit and a picnic table per site. Such a shame a thunderstorm occurred pretty much as we arrived there! A windy road out but think this is a lovely place with a coffee van at the front gate!!❤️

We had a lovely time at Glencairn, although the campsites are way too close - we were lucky one night to have the place to ourselves, unfortunately the other night our neighbours were 9 young lads celebrating a birthday til the morning.. Animals are fun

Great hipcamp. Tucked away with a great view too boot. Dog friendly and fire pit at every site. Site 1 and 2 are probably the biggest. Site 1 is tucked away in the corner and not affected by headlights on the road from through traffic to the cabins. It is shadowed by mid afternoon this time of year (June) with high terrain to the north and west. Sites 3 and 4 next biggest. Probably the pick if solar is critical to you. Sites 5 and 6 smallest and could be a struggle to get a large van in there. Road in a bit worn, so go slow. Great proximity to Byron

Great spot just outside of Byron bay, and close to the cool stuff in the Hinterland. If you want to escape the caravan parks and have a fire pit, This is the place to go. There’s a water tap if you need more water aswell and the coffee van is amazing with a really genuine vibe. Also make sure you turn where the coffee van is as this is the road to the campground. We had a 10m overall length caravan

Great site. Pretty close to other campers, but not close enough to be disturbed. Nice well maintained walks around the property, and the animals are a huge plus. Giorgio was a very responsive host. Surroundings are great too. Would recommend a stay here.

Lovely property in super handy location. Close to the highway yet not close enough to have any road traffic etc. Loved greeting the animals and the coffee cart at the end of the driveway.

Nature stay near Byron

We enjoyed our stay. A bit more expensive than we’ve usually paid, but was worth it due to its close proximity to Byron. We loved how wild the camping spaces were, you feel immersed in nature. Camping sites are well-maintained with a fire pit and park bench.

Lovely property and the 6 sites have plenty of space to set up. The animals are great to check out! The downsides were the cafe wasn’t open most of our stay, there wasn’t any water and it’s 20-30min to byron depending on traffic.

Lovely spot. Only a few campsites available so it's nice and private. The ground is a little tough and rocky so it was hard to peg tents down but it was sheltered from the wind so it was alright. Gorgeous views too!

It was a pleasant place to stay and the overall atmosphere was nice. However, we felt it was a bit expensive for what it offers compared to similar places. Still, it can be a good option depending on what you’re looking for.

Good spot, tables are a nice to have. Each camp site is Camps close to each other. So it can be tricky if you have a dog and need to keep it away from another camper’s dog. The owner did not respond to my HipCamp message. There is a pump and water-tap, but it was not working. I had to plug the water pump into a different power socket and to get it working.

Sublime quiet spot for sunset and sunrise with wonderful natural views. The camping areas are spacious and each site has a spot for a camp fire. Might move here full time and become Zen!

Quiet camping area, really close to town. We had the camp to ourselves which was nice! Lovely fire area for each site. The first 6 sites are quite close together. If you are wanting more privacy it would be recommended to book the tent sites.
