Camp along the Darling River at Avoca Homestead, a peaceful heritage-listed property with a rich history dating back to the 1800s. Choose from powered or unpowered campsites, with both grassed and ungrassed options available, all set along the banks of the Darling River. The striking 1879 sandstone homestead overlooks the campground, offering a glimpse into Avoca’s rich past. Spend your days fishing along the Darling River, enjoying a hit on the tennis court, or simply relaxing around camp and soaking up the peaceful surroundings. Guests are welcome to explore the historic outbuildings during a designated two hour viewing period each evening. Guided tours are also available in the mornings, providing access to the homestead and outbuildings, with stories of Avoca’s history followed by morning tea in the original cook’s kitchen. Bookings are essential. Please note the homestead grounds and heritage outbuildings are strictly accessible ONLY during the evening viewing period or as part of a guided tour. Outside these times, guests must remain within the designated camping area. Campfires are permitted during the winter season in designated fire pits, subject to local fire restrictions and weather conditions. Whether you’re here to fish, unwind, explore local history or simply enjoy a peaceful night under the stars, Avoca Homestead offers a unique outback camping experience.

Grassed Paddock - Unpowered

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 20 m
Our grassed paddock camping area offers spacious, flat, unpowered sites on the higher ground of the homestead property. Located approximately 80 metres from the Darling River, these sites provide a peaceful setting with beautiful views across to the historic 1879 stone homestead, while still being just a short stroll from the river’s edge. The historic buildings are open to campers during a designated two hour viewing period each evening, with guided homestead tours available as an optional extra. Outside these hours, the homestead grounds and heritage buildings are strictly off limits. Please remain within the camp area unless attending the scheduled viewing period or a guided tour. Spend your days fishing along the Darling River, enjoying a hit on the tennis court, or simply relaxing amongst the gum trees while listening to the abundant birdlife and kookaburras calling at dusk. There are no bathroom amenities or potable water, so guests must be fully self-contained. Please take all waste with you when you leave and help us preserve this special place by leaving no trace. Camping spots are first in, best dressed, so please leave at least 5 metres between your camp and the next one for everyone’s comfort and safety.
