Okato is 17 mins drive from New Plymouth and the land is flat, with beautiful views of Mt Taranaki, Kaitake ranges and distant sea views. We are less than 2 minutes drive to centre of Okato village, Surf Highway and Stony River walkways. 7 minutes drive to Pitone or Okato beaches.
In terms of eating out, coffee and shops - there is The Okato Bar and Restaurant Silver Snapper fish & chips, Lahar coffee & food, Downtown coffee, En Route Coffee van. Four Square/post office, barbers, kids playground and skate park.
Okato is 10 mins drive from Oakura with a stunning beach and many eateries.
Our house is towards the back of the property, with front paddock space available.

We really enjoyed our overnight stay at Glendhu Bay. The spot was very scenic and tidy. The park wasn’t overly busy as we were in the off season which was nice. The only downside I noted was that you had to pay for hot showers. $2 for 6min isn’t too bad but was a surprised compared to everywhere else we stayed where it’s free. That being said, the bathrooms were very clean and heated nicely. It’s a little out of Wanaka (about 15min) so not ideal if you want to eat out in town for dinner. Overall a good spot and hopefully one day we will be back.

Lovely place! Heel rustig en afgelegen tussen de heuvels en met een mooi stukje bush en riviertje ernaast. Wij vonden het heerlijk met zo weinig mensen daar te staan. Wc’s zijn compost wc’s en verrassend schoon en zonder geur. Host Timothy niet ontmoet maar heel vriendelijk en communiceert direct. Geen telefoonbereik of wifi ter plekke.
