Noorla Farm (Happy Camping Ground)

3 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · Mcharg Creek, SA
We live in a beautiful valley on 30 acres, that not many people know about. We're joined by 3 friendly dogs, 4 horses, 2 alpacas, 4 Galloway cows and chooks, along with the resident wildlife including many birds, kangaroos, koalas, shy owls, and even an echidna! All this, plus beautiful views from atop our hills, right to the lake, and the delightful winter creek complete with frogs. We are close to the McLaren Vale wine region as well as wineries throughout the Hills and 35 minutes to the coast of Victor Harbor. The Greenman Inn is 5 minutes down the road and has wonderful food from Wed to Sun if you do not feel the urge to cook with wood fires for the cold nights or a gorgeous outdoor area for the warmer months. At present, we offer two areas for camping. Topspot which has lovely views and is quite secluded amongst the tree tops. This site is suitable for tents and camper trailers (need reasonable backing skills and 4WD) The Laneway which is close to the babbling creek is suitable for those with a small caravan, or motorhome, 2WD etc, along with tent campers. (but would struggle with large caravans/motorhomes - please check with hosts) (The Lookout/Highview has spectacular views and is suitable for tents and camper trailers, accessible by low-range 4WD (or AWD if the weather is dry) - Please note this site is currently closed due to stock rotation.) If you have any doubts about which to book, please ask. AUTUMN/WINTER MONTHS: if we receive considerable rain the trek up to the hill sites could become slippery and not accessible as it is a farm paddock, therefore unfortunately your booking may need to be cancelled. NOTE: On our farm there is limited phone coverage in the valley (The Laneway) Topspot and The Lookout/Highview do have coverage. Pets are welcome, however, please ensure they are kept under control (unless discussed with the host) at all times as we have our livestock and are surrounded by neighboring livestock, as well as the wildlife that frequently visits. Please note: This is an active small farm, therefore work may need be continued throughout your stay possibly necessitating the use of machinery and tending to our livestock. If you wish to see some of the animals up close, please let us know and we will try to accommodate. We ask that all fires be contained within the fire pit provided and a portable toilet is available for your use. BUSHFIRE SEASON: Wood and open fires are not permitted in the bushfire season, therefore you will not be able to use the fire pits.

Cooinda Retreats - RV and Camp Stay

9 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · Victor Harbor, SA
PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS TO ENSURE A GREAT EXPERIENCE. Cooinda Retreats is pleased to offer our newest addition to nature based camping. Cooinda Retreats RV and Campground Stays provides an exclusive nature based immersive alternative to big park stays. Cooinda Retreats is a 100% Not for Profit organisation. Our Stays park, as with our Group Accommodation is our only source of funding to provide valuable services to disadvantaged and marginalised groups of our community. When you stay at Cooinda Retreats, you get a great experience and know you are supporting many worthwhile community programs. Please remember we are a Hipcamp bushland stays site, not a caravan park. Hipcamp provide very helpful Hipcamper information on their website if you want to understand the difference. Our sites are not massive, we know that, but they are really well cared for, and we offer a spectacular overall environment and level of service. The views are gorgeous. Please read individual site details, as not all are appropriate for big caravan rigs and massive towing vehicles. Situated at the foothills of stunning Victor Harbor, on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Cooinda Retreats RV Park and Campground comprises 10 dedicated sites, all with a unique aspect of bushland and ocean views. Cooinda Retreats is a multipurpose site, with group accommodation and RV/Camp Stays. There will be times that both services are in place, it makes the site uniquely wonderful. Please keep this in mind. You will need to be predominantly self contained, with new portable showers and toilets conveniently located throughout the park for those requiring as a back up. Best to bring your own toilet paper, as these facilities are an added bonus in a self contained stays environment, although we do maintain them to a clean standard.☺️ The Council of Victor Harbor provide a Dump Point approx 3 Kms from our stays park. Site 1 is both electric and dog fence friendly. Its a premium site. All other sites are Non Powered, all have potable water supplies available. You will need to take your rubbish away with you as we don't provide a rubbish service. Spacious lawned areas designated to your group are provided and your support in maintaining this is appreciated, as we don't allow floor mats on established lawn areas. Each site is specific to size requirements of your RV and camping outfit, please take note of the sizes in site details as not all sites are suitable for large vans, some are suitable for campers and tents only. Please check the details before booking. If you have a big van (20 foot or more, please only consider sites 1, 2b, 6, 8 and 9. If you book others be prepared for a bit of fun in the set up process. We offer an extensive Camp Kitchen, which will be shared amongst all guests. This truly is Victor Harbor's best kept secret. While only a few minutes from the township, you will feel the beauty of nature and the serenity of ocean views. Maintaining a balance of nature and activity means that we have a no noise policy after 10:30pm. Naturally we love reviews. We do however ask that you consider all of the above detail and that we are a 100% genuine Not for Profit Charity before smashing out something negative. Particularly something we have already mentioned above anyway. We find a simple private message can generally solve issues. We also have a resident Caretaker couple that take great pride in the park and will assist if appropriate. To summarise: - Our sites are different sizes and not all appropriate for big vans, please check the individual details. - Our sites are not open bush blocks, they are designated sizes, with plenty of open space areas. -We are a multipurpose site, we have a group accommodation service adjacent to the Stays Park. Sometimes they make some noise, but they also abide by the same curfew rules. Its really lovely to know that (predominantly children) are outside in nature for a bit. We think that is pretty special! - Our demountable toilets and showers are awesome, they are 100% a bonus as we ask our guest to be self contained where possible. Bring some loo paper just in case the person before you used in all up. - Water (potable) is available on all sites. - Please take all rubbish with you, its a condition of booking. - There are bugs and ants around us, its a bushland setting. We suggest you bring some stuff to manage this. -We have CCTV cameras discretely situated across our entire site, they are there to keep us all safe. We cant wait to see you, this is really something special!

It is a small, private, sanctuary, at it's best in the Winter months when the pond comes to life. Guests can kick back around the campfire overlooking the dam, as they listen to the crickets and frogs in the evenings. There is a resident Western Grey kangaroo, many possums (both ring-tail and brush-tail), native burrowing rats, and a plethora of birdlife including favourites such as blue wrens, fairy wrens, and a resident family of chuffs. We request that guests leave no sign of visitation, and take all waste with them. CAMPERVAN SITES: *WE ONLY ALLOW SELF-DRIVEN CAMPERVANS OR MOTORHOMES THAT ARE 7.5m OR LESS IN LENGTH* *NO CARAVANS, TRAILERS, OR TENTS.* We have 7 independent, unpowered, sites that are suited for Class A or B campervans or motorhomes ONLY. 7.5 m or less (see size restrictions). There is a Waste Dump Point in Meadows (6 km away) near the footy oval (Brooks street rec. ground, GPS: -35.180278, 138.76). The area around your tent, bathroom and car parking space has been prepared for you to enjoy. The flower paddocks and other general paddocks are Private property and not accessible to guests. Please refrain from taking a stroll amongst the bushes and flowers as there are hazards such as irrigation lines, taps and not to mention the rabbit burrow and holes dotted around the property. Other details to note Please note - please take care when walking around your glampsite as there are areas of uneven ground and rabbit holes! No manicured lawns or picket fences here! No open fires (firepits) permitted from 01 October to 31 April. Please note - there is no power or electricity to this site. Please note - there is no running water to this site. Strictly Adults ONLY. Bugs and other unwanted guests! As our tents are in the heart of the vineyard you will likely find some harmless insects sneaking into the tents from the vines; the main culprit is the tiny Portuguese millipede. While we thoroughly clean before/after each guest, we want you to know that you're likely to see them during your stay. These are totally harmless insects and can either be left alone (and they'll leave you alone) or you can use the insect spray we provide/pick them up in a tissue, or the dustpan and brush, and drop them in the waste bin, or outside. This is a normal part of life for anyone living on property in McLaren Vale with lots of open indoor/outdoor space. We hope you'll appreciate it as part of an authentic, real experience! To eliminate anything getting into the tent we strongly advise to keep all doors zipped up. We live in the homestead on property (but out of sight!), and far enough away to ensure your privacy. Our property IS NOT the one as you enter the property at the top of the track. We are happy to answer questions, offer local recommendations (some are already in our Welcome Pack for your information). Although we are not always available in person, we are available by phone.

Camping near Happy Valley guide

Overview

A southern suburb of Adelaide, Happy Valley camping is ideal for those who want to be close to the city without being in its urban core. The suburb’s location beside the Happy Valley Reservoir means it has retained a rural feel despite being near the city, with parklands containing native vegetation and a golf course around the reservoir. It’s an especially family-friendly place, with open areas to play yet within easy reach of amenities. Other national parks and reserves with further camping options are nearby and on the outskirts of Adelaide, including the Sturt Gorge Recreation Park, the Belair National Park, and the small towns and rolling landscapes of the Adelaide Hills, where you can look out for caravan parks and tent campsites with fire pits and picnic tables. And although Happy Valley is inland, it’s only a short drive to beautiful beaches and the Coast Park Trail at O’Sullivan’s Beach.
