We are nestled right in between Bloomington and Peoria, IL, down a quiet road near the Panther Creek and the Mackinaw River. Just 15 minutes from world renowned DISC GOLF course in Eureka, IL. 5 miles from Fairlakes Golf course. Enjoy several public hiking areas less than a mile away. A great area to ride ATVs on the quiet roads. This camp sight sits on 2 acres, has mature trees for shade, a picnic table, and lots of space to run and play. We are a drug free and alcohol free property. And clothing is required. We look forward to hosting you here at our quiet retreat.

Frakers Grove Farm

Frakers Grove farm has been in my family since the 1980’s but the history of Frakers Grove dates back to 1828 when Michael Fraker arrived to this area and negotiated a peaceful settlement with the Indians and became the first settler in the North Eastern Knox County. His grave is located on the property, and it is estimated that there are 26 other graves of relatives and friends in the area. Camping on a 250 acre farm located in Western Illinois. There is a 1.5 Acre stocked lake and a small creek running through the property. There are some trails running through the property. Wildlife found on the property include: Deer, American River Otters, Beavers, Geese, Wood Ducks, Racoons, etc. 1 Walk-in Camp Sites & 1 Drive-In Site by the pond available, each with a fire ring and picnic table. We are testing out RV Camping as well, feed back is appreciated! Overall this is primitive wooded camping behind and around pond, the RV site is next to the polebarn. Guest WiFi is available near the buildings. We can aid in getting your tent and supplies to and from the campsite on check-in and check-out days with a side by side if requested. Effective 5/31/2023 we now have a Porta Potty available for our guests to use located up by the Pole Barn. With a late harvest this year, we are extending our camping season to October 15th. Please be aware that there may be harvest activities that are occurring during your stay. Please watch out for machinery and grain trucks. NOTE: This is an active farm; during the spring and fall there is more activity with heavy machinery. We also have Chickens and Pigs. In 2023 we are building a pasture to start our herd of cows, cow's should arrive in 2024.

Our farm is home to 2 Friesian stallions, who reside here year-round, alongside 15-20 mares that visit for breeding and foaling. We usually have 8-10 foals each year. Once the mares are bred back the foals and mares go to the other farm but approximately 4-5 months after birth, the foals return to our farm for weaning. Guests are invited to explore our fields, outdoor arenas, and trails at their leisure. We warmly welcome dogs. Our spacious campsite, located behind the barn, features a 30-amp plug-in, a picnic table, and a fire pit for your enjoyment. For larger groups that want MORE amenities we have the foaling apartment available for extra cost. This can be rented through airbnb. This has 2 bedrooms, a large handicap bathroom with walk in shower washer and dryer, 2 televisions, full kitchen with stove, microwave, oven large fridge and freezer with icemaker.

Smiling Frog Farm's 16 ft Bell Tent

Learn more about this land:Smiling Frog Farm have 22 acres with trails, pastures and rolling hills sitting on a ridge overlooking a large valley. Lots of hiking is available. Our land was once home to the Potowatami people and sat along an Indian trail. A couple of thousand years ago it was home to the Mississippian Mound culture. Numerous artifacts have been found over the years, so fun to explore. Our campground is located in a private meadow clearing surrounded by woods. You can bring your own tent or use ours.WINTER SEASON NOTE: Campsite is available, however, tent is down for the season. You are welcome to bring your own. There is a wooden platform to utilize, if you like. We offer a 16 foot round nylon Bell tent with a 9 foot ceiling available for use (raised on a wood platform). It is carpeted and has a queen size bed with fresh linens. Various seating is available, table for dining, rustic outdoor kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals. Fire pit and clean outhouse with chemical toilet. So, really the only thing you need to pack to bring is your food & clothes! If you prefer a private experience, just let us know! While there is plenty of room for numerous tents, you have the choice of being there on your own. If you let us know, we will not book anyone else while you are there!Our farm has chickens, geese, ducks, alpacas and goats, along with barn cats! We are about 22 minutes east of Galesburg and 35 minutes west of Peoria. Near Oak Run Golf Course, Watering Hole Restaurant and Spoon Lake (which is private). There is an adorable Dahinda General Store 2 miles away which offers baked goods, sandwiches, coffee, snacks, artwork, jewelry and more. Also a few minutes away is Snakeden Hollow State Fish & Wildlife Area. There is a 160 acre lake, along with lots of other ponds & water features. The water areas currently contain largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow and brown trout, muskie, bluegill, redear sunfish, walleye, green sunfish, black crappie, channel catfish and bullhead. Snakeden has has 2,100 acres of grassland, brushy draws, briers, shrubs, cropland and limited hardwood forest.
