This property was owned by an Italian family who came to Australia in the 30's. We bought the house in Aug 2021 and fell instantly in love with it and all its quirkiness. The original cottage is still on site and is a long term renovation project for us, it may be old but holds lots and lots of history behind them walls.
The verandah area is yours to use, if you wish, for a bit of extra room to escape the rain or provide a bit of shade (depending on season) it has a powerpoint and light for your convenience.
Unfortunately, as there are building works happening at the back of the cottage we have closed access to the toilet area for your safety at this time.

The land is fully fenced, has it’s own gate entry and plenty of space for you to set up wherever you choose. We are open to pets, and if need be, the sheep can be moved to our other paddock to ensure the safety and comfort for all animals.
The Humble Abode is the home of the owners, an adventurous toddler, our new baby and our two friendly dogs (who will likely do their job and bark on your arrival). This part of our land is sectioned off and not open to the public.

Horses and small animal experience available, ask on arrival. I recommend booking a walk with the horses the river for an hour.
This campsite has access to a beautiful toilet/hot shower and drinking water supply in the workshop. There is also an outdoor shower in a water tank surround and an outside bath heated by a fire. Small camp kitchen with coffee machine, fridge, sink and bench also in the workshop.
Large outdoor movie screen, we generally screen family movies on Saturday night among the gum trees and strings of lighting. Please enquire if you are interested.
Campfires and bonfires permitted in winter. No fire from October to May.
While you're here check out the Greenough walk and cycle track that follows the river. It's only 3km to the beach, and you can walk or take your bike there (bike hire is available in town). We have canoes.
Greenough Settlement/café and Wild Life Park close by.
Pets welcome on a lead. Off lead welcome after we had met and chatted. Dogs are a danger to all horses, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens. Off lead without consultation will not be tolerated.
Please enter Devlin Pool Rd at the Northern end where it meets Jandanol Rd. We are the 3rd driveway.

Great location close to beaches, walking trails and short drive to Geraldton. Multiple sites but all spaced apart with lots of privacy and shade. Basic communal area but covers the essentials. Will happily camp there again.

Great little shady spot !! We were very lucky the other site was not occupied so we had it all to ourselves. The hosts were lovely and welcoming with great communication. Everything was as per the advertisement. It was a good base for seeing Geraldton.

Sara made me and my 4 working Kelpies feel very welcome. Her 2 Kelpies made it half a dozen that we took to the beach one lunchtime and everyone and every dog ran amok. Sara was very accommodating with all my requests. The camp sites were very shady and ground cover kept low - a must to n the middle of summer heatwaves. Great meeting and getting to know you Sara

"We had a wonderful stay at Dougal Retreat! It is such a beautiful space to truly spend time in nature with the family. Nothing was too much trouble for Sara and Paul—they were incredibly accommodating and even helped us get some power to run our aircon on a particularly hot day, which was a lifesaver.
Our daughter was over the moon being able to help Sara feed the horses, and we all loved throwing sticks for their friendly farm dogs. The facilities are great; there is a clean toilet and shower, and a very welcoming shed with a rustic camp kitchen. We spent our evenings watching the sunset and staring at the stars, which were so bright out there. It was also a huge plus that we could bring our own dog along!
The spots are secluded with plenty of space, and it's just a short drive to the river mouth. We can imagine it would be just as wonderful in the winter with a fire to sit by. Thank you Sara and Paul for being such welcoming hosts!"

Our family of 4, plus our golden retriever pup had a great stay at Hill Farm. It was a treat to have green grass at our feet. The kids loved the open space and freedom to just play. Our pup enjoyed the space to play with her ball. Thank you to Anita for opening this space to allow travellers to rest.

It was so nice having actual green grass to camp on in the middle of summer after the extreme dry areas I had been to recently. My 4 kelpies thought they were in heaven. Simone and Ross were site sitting on hilly Anita was away and they did an awesome job of watering, helping out and been down right nice people. Although I was self contained, having access to clean bore water was a bonus in the heat for extra play water for my dogs. The bush walk to the river was nice especially find a couple of areas still flowing at this time of year
