We welcome self-contained campers of all sizes onto our flat, grassy block of land. Create a sanctuary under the established gum trees, nestled amongst the birds and our friendly sheep. The land is fully fenced, has it’s own gate entry and plenty of space for you to set up wherever you choose. We are open to pets, and if need be, the sheep can be moved to our other paddock to ensure the safety and comfort for all animals.
The Humble Abode is the home of the owners, an adventurous toddler, our new baby and our two friendly dogs (who will likely do their job and bark on your arrival). This part of our land is sectioned off and not open to the public.

Enjoy the exclusivity of having the entire campsite to yourself! There is only one campsite on the property, with no other campers or camping sites, so you’ll have your own private space to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The campsite is situated on 40 acres, just 10 minutes north of Dongara, 35 minutes south of Geraldton and 6 minutes from Seven Mile Beach.
Seven Mile Beach has beautiful turquoise water and white sand. Walk for miles, snorkel the reef, fish, kayak or swim. Dogs can be off leash on the beach.
⛺ YOUR PRIVATE CAMPING AREA
The approximately one-acre camping area is neatly mowed, relatively flat and surrounded by native trees and bush. There is some scattered limestone cap rock, but it is easy to manoeuvre around, including for large caravans and 5th wheelers.
You can set up anywhere around the lean-to shed, which is available for your use.
The site can accommodate up to 3 vans/tents travelling together, while still enjoying the entire exclusive camping area.
We live at the rear of the property in a fully fenced area with our two dogs. The campsite is towards the front, with native trees and bush providing privacy between us.
Self check-in allows you to arrive and enjoy your stay with complete privacy. You’re welcome to walk around the lower section of the property, staying within the ring-lock boundary fencing.
🐾 PET FRIENDLY
Pets are welcome off leash provided they are under control and you remain mindful of local wildlife. Kangaroos, echidnas and many bird species are often seen around the property.
💧 FACILITIES
You’ll need to be fully self-sufficient for power and ablutions.
A 3,000-litre fresh water tank is available for guests to use.
🔥 FIRE PIT & FIREWOOD
During autumn and winter, once the spring/summer fire ban has been lifted, you can enjoy the fire pit and supplied firewood, subject to current fire restrictions.

Sharing our land gives travellers passing through Dongara and Port Denison a chance to enjoy the peace and quiet our property offers, along with time to explore the local area.
Please note that this is a land only stay. There is no water or power available, so guests must be fully self contained. A dump point is located near the town oval.
Our property is just 4 km from town — a quick drive to cafés, eateries, charming small shops, and the visitor centre, where you can learn about the town’s heritage and nearby walking trails.
You can also head down to the marina precinct to enjoy the beautiful foreshore, its facilities, South Beach, and the Seafolk Café.
Dogs are welcome, but please keep them under control as sheep graze on our property and neighbouring farms. Kangaroos also frequent the area.

The property is on the coral coast, Irwin Shire. It is 2km from 7 Mile Beach, 10 km north of Dongara and Port Denison, 55km south of Geraldton.
Camping is on the front entrance of the property only, it is fairly flat land with a high western bush rise protecting from westerlies. The site overlooks the surrounding valley landscape. The access road is fairly quiet.
The property is surrounded by restaurants, north and south, amazing beaches, like South Beach in Port Denison and up and down the coast. There is a wild life sanctuary in Greenough and a Tavern in near by Walkaway. There are also several dog boarding kennels.
In Geraldton north is a very popular international wind surfing community and surfing is well catered for as well.
Bookara is surrounded by organic farms and there is a local goat cheese factory, and many other enterprises.
Up past Walkaway is Denison's pool a local gorge and an indigenous heritage site.
It goes without saying that the fishing is good too.
There are sheep on the property, so care must be taken entering and leaving the property.
Property next door to the Greenough Village Historical township.

We loved our time at Emu Creek. The outlook from the caravan area was gorgeous with cows, green pastures, canola and lovely gardens. Very peaceful at this time of year. Sandy greeted us and we purchased some delicious eggs. Great location with so much to see in the area. Love the Chapman Valley.

This was a great stopover for us on our way home from up north. The location was easy to find, the facilities had everything we needed, and the fire pit we used was a bonus on a cold night. The site was perfect for rolling out our swags and settling in for the night. Claire was friendly, helpful and quick to respond to our questions, which made the whole stay easy and enjoyable. We'd happily stay here again.

Geraldton & Vicinity
The only city in the Midwest, Geraldton is a great spot to base yourself if you like to be close to the action. Dotted around the city’s CBD and foreshore, you’ll find a handful of caravan parks, holiday parks, and 24-hour car parks, where campers in self-contained motorhomes can stay overnight. If you prefer being on the outskirts, there are plenty of options too, from historic homesteads to relaxing river-front camping areas, where you can pitch up and enjoy all the beauty of the bush, especially during wildflower season.
Horrocks Beach & Port Gregory
Once voted one of Australia’s best beaches, Horrocks is a quaint coastal town north of Geraldton popular with campers and 4WDers. Offering plenty in the way of holiday parks and campsites, it’s a good spot for a bbq and a relaxing camping trip. Alternatively, you can continue on the northwest coastal highway to Port Gregory, where you’ll find funky campsites and caravan parks sandwiched between the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean and the flamingo-coloured waters of Hutt Lagoon.
Greenough & Dongara
While Geraldton is known for its rock lobster, Western Australia’s official rock lobster capital is actually a quirky town called Dongara, which is 45 minutes south. Complete with a giant red lobster, caravan parks, and beaches, Dongara is a great place to set up shop, although there are plenty of accommodation options between Dongara and Geraldton, including Greenough, a living 19th-century ghost town with funky windswept trees.
Kalbarri & Kalbarri National Park
Just under two hours north of Geraldton on the north west coastal highway, the town of Kalbarri is another popular camping spot with a relaxed, holiday park vibe and plenty of accommodation options to suit campers, backpackers, and glampers alike. The jumping-off point to Kalbarri National Park, Kalbarri is a best-of-both-worlds kind of town, where you can enjoy camping on the foreshore and hiking through the dramatic red-rock landscapes of the national park.
When to go
The coastal breeze makes Geraldton a balmy year-round destination, with warm winters and warm summers with a few hotter days here and there. School holidays are especially busy, with campsites around Kalbarri and Geraldton filling up fast in the summer and winter holidays. Wildflower season—from the end of August to mid-October—is also pretty popular, with Western Australia’s prized carpets of wildflowers attracting campers and nature lovers from around the globe.
