You will experience dusty back roads, open plains and the starry skies of rural Australia, yet you will only be 20 minutes away from a bustling regional city (Horsham). Around the property there are many old historic farm buildings, including an original 'boundary riders' hut (circa 1870's). The Yarriambiack Creek is the western boundary of the property, and is a haven for birds and wildlife such as kangaroos & wallabies. Ancient river redgums run along the creek which provide for nice shady spots in summer. The creek relies on seasonal rainfall, and when running, is deep enough for swimming or paddling around in a kayak. When dry, the creek bed makes a fantastic walking track. If you are looking for a unique family holiday, or you are an artist and want to do some songwriting or painting, or just need to get out of the rat race and chill out, then this could be just the place for you. 10 mins to Murtoa, 15 mins to the Dooen Hotel, 20 mins to Horsham, 30 mins to Warracknabeal, 40 mins to the Grampians or Mt Arapilies. A perfect base to explore the renowned Silo Art Trail, Murtoa Stick Shed, local lakes and waterways, state and national parks, and many other regional attractions. But if you are simply into nature or hiking, then just head north or south along the creek, and you will be able to walk for hours and take in the unique scenery. Please note, the property is 'pet friendly' but we respectfully ask that pets are not taken inside of the accommodation.

Built on a working sheep farm, the setting is between two water areas on the east and west side of the building. Great for water bird and tortoise watching from the windows and for a swim and canoe break . That's if you want to leave unwinding in her warm lime rendered windows listening to the deep silence.. We are a handy halfway stop over 20 minutes north of the Western Highway for Melbourne/Adelaide travellers, and for keen walkers and climbers 30 minutes from the Northern Grampians (Gariwerd). Other towns close by are Rupanyup, 10 minutes up the road, and Stawell /Horsham, 35 kms to 40 kms each with their own unique attractions. Meera’ is the second largest super adobe building in Victoria and attracts lots of curiosity from visitors regarding her uniqueness. The space Used also as a venue for music teaching, singing and performing and much more, Meera is a one room thick walled, lime rendered space - a nine metre circle with a swirly almost cylindrical section enclosing a rounded sleeping space -the bed womb. This creates a spacious king size, futon style sleeping platform that can accommodate a snuggly family or whatever sleeping arrangements you like. Enjoy sunrise, sunset and look up to see the blue skies and clouds scudding in the mosaic wrapped oculus above. A grand piano is in pride of place. Here we have a gorgeous property on witch you will enjoy waking up between the Grampians and the black rangers with sunsets/sunrises to die for, with massive campsites for those who are looking to get out of the caravan park life style. Wake up feeling like your in nature along side the basin creek only 1.3m deep in most places and and 1.5m wide that stretches for around a 1km down stream that runs seasonally with Redfin, trout and yabbys. Within 10km of the camp site enjoy lake fyans or lake Lonsdale both known for its fishing and skiing, bunjil’s cave with its walking/riding trails, the devil gardens known for its 4x4 tracks and bush walks with many deer and bird species. For those who love there prospecting Illawarra is only around the corner and deep lead is up the road! within 20km you’ll find yourself at one of the wonders of the world in the Grampians with its spectacular views , magnificent waterfalls and famous food and wine.

Best hip camp, the place is so peacefull and even with other campers there, you didn’t hear from them as we were far enough away. We could pick any site when we got there and had our Firepit. John a Greta were so helpful and friendly. Don’t waste your money staying in town this place is only 10 minutes away.

If you want to be a short drive from the Grampians but want more quiet and space then camping in Halls gap, this place is great. We are completely self sufficient so we were able to park a long way from any other campers. Kids were able to explore the land, throw some yabbie nets in the damn with success and ride their bikes. Ample free fire wood. Basic flushable toilet and hot shower available. Steven was a very friendly host and quick to respond to messages.

We really enjoyed our recent camping trip at Steven's property - he showed us a beautiful spot overloading a creek and went out of his away to accomodate us with firewood etc. There were lots of animals to see - llamas, sheep, horses, rabbits, which the kids loved. It was great to be able to get to Halls Gap so easily and then have a nice quiet place to retreat to. Highly recommend!

The photos on hipcamp didn't do David's picturesque property justice. You have to visit to appreciate the beauty that the campsite is set on. David met us and took us to our campsite and gave us some local spots to visit during our stay. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday surrounded by nature this is the place for you. We met the pet sheep,alpacas, Galloway's, chooks and the gorgeous puppy Levi. David's hospitality was above and beyond, he invited us to the homestead to collect some eggs and gave us a guided historical tour of the homestead, stables and the old school. After a stormy night he came to check on us to make sure we were ok. We will definitely be back again.
