You'll find many opportunities for hiking, with trails suitable for all ages and abilities. The closest dump point is a 9-minute drive to the “Town of Topiary” Railton, where you will find two charming coffee shops, a hotel, post office, a petrol station with a convenience store, a mechanic, a craft brewery and a takeaway shop. Railton boasts the delightful Goliath Park, with multiple recreational activities available including a tennis court, a pump track, skate park, covered barbeque and picnic area and playground. An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river. For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket. Natural Surroundings & Activities: Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. We grow and process organic certified medicinal herbs and plants. The camping site is located in a beautiful location overlooking the lavender fields, in bloom december/january, with the ever-changing Mt Roland in the background. On days with cold southerly winds, alternative campingsites are available on the farm. Please contact us to find out. Includes use flushing toilet, hot shower and laundry (external access). Approx. 300m from the campsite. We are pet friendly. We've got room for up to 5 separate bookings. Due to shortage of personnel, we can no longer offer the farm tours. Hope this will change coming season 2024/25. But hipcampers are welcome to have a walk on the farm. We are working together with other organic certified farmers. They lease parts of our land to grow vegetables. Hipcampers are welcome to have a walk around their crops as well. Big news: we have started to build a tearoom with possibilities to organise herbal workshops and give education about growing and using medicinal herbs. . It will also have a shop and space to enjoy light refreshments, organic coffee, chocolate, juice and herbal tea. Extra bathroomfacilities will be available to our hipcampers only. The closest dump point is a 9-minute drive to the “Town of Topiary” Railton, where you will find two charming coffee shops, a hotel, post office, a petrol station with a convenience store, a mechanic, a craft brewery and a takeaway shop. Railton boasts the delightful Goliath Park, with multiple recreational activities available including a tennis court, a pump track, skate park, covered barbeque and picnic area and playground. It’s also where you’ll find a trail head for the World Class Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Network, complete with toilets and wash down bays. Every Saturday morning, an idyllic bush setting hosts the Railton Park Run. Ten minutes up the road you’ll find Sheffield, the Town of Murals and further south, Cradle Mountain. South Preston Dam Camp

Pitch your tent or park your van next to one of our lovely dams. The property is home to running streams, waterfalls, platypus, free range pigs, sheep along with stunning views. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the warmer months and lots of walking and exploring the rest of the year. Campers must be self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Camp fires are welcome pending there are no restrictions and they must be kept contained. Access can be difficult after heavy rainfall and you will need to drive through opened paddocks and unformed tracks to campsites so please use caution. We are just 20 mins drive to Ulverstone and a 10 minute drive to Leven canyon, Preston falls and Gunns Plains so there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. 60 minutes drive to Cradle Mountain and 90 mins drive Tullah West coast. 30 mins Penguin and Devonport.

Access for all types of vehicles is good, with plenty of space to turn around. This is a farm animal sanctuary so guests are asked to respect animals by not cooking them here. We appreciate your respect in this regard. Japa Hill makes for a safe base to explore the region, with Boat Harbour just 30 minutes drive away and Cradle Mountain two hours away. The Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal is just 74 minutes drive away.
