Camp and fish just a stonesthrow from one of Tasmania's most stunning natural landscapes, Cradle Mountain. Here you'll find nature at its best, just 10 minutes drive from the Cradle Mountain Visitors centre, the perfect base for discovering this magical area.
Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites.
There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife.
A keen fisher fish in our dams for trophy size rainbow brown and brook trout catch and release fees and rules apply

Close to Sheffield the town of Murals, Lake Barrington perfect for swimming, rowing and water skiing, Tasmazia with its model villages and endless mazes to occupy the kids, Latrobe Chocolate Factory, Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door, Van Diemans Ice Creamery, Wild Mersey MTB Trail network, Mole Creek Caves, Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, Mount Roland hikes, Forth Falls and surrounded by many amazing walks and other natural Tasmanian attractions close by.
For those wanting to spread out, prefer privacy, traveling in groups or prefer mountain views we encourage you to book our 4wd Plateau and 4wd Dispersed Sites which are open during the peak months depending on cattle movements. Our main campground has 10 sites and is accessible for standard cars. The main campground has level grassed campsites measuring 6m in width and 19m in length (Sites 2 - 10) Campsite 1 is the larger site and measures 10m in width and 19m in length and sits seperate to the other sites a little closer to the road.
Price advertised is per site, per night for 2 people. Campfires permitted in designated area within the main campground only and when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood is provided. No amenities on site you MUST bring your own camping toilet and if camping in anything other then a caravan may be asked to show that you have a toilet with you. ** NO Dogs allowed on property as this is a working farm**

At Hill Top Farm Meander we run beef cattle and five working draught horses. Our property boasts commanding views of Huntsman lake , the Great Western Tiers and Meander Valley. The surrounding mountains create a dramatic backdrop for Hill Top Farm. Our farm displays an abundance of natural beauty, with crystal clear springs and a diversity of mature and rare forest timbers. There are numerous well known walks to do nearby, Meander Falls, Mother Cummings Peak and Smoko Falls to name a few. Huntsman Lake is a great favourite of fly fishermen and kayakers alike, there is also a very pleasant picnic grounds there, swimming hole and boat ramp.
The village of Meander is 4 kms away offering a wonderful cafe , where the staff are friendly and the hamburgers , coffee and cakes are fantastic.
As we have no facilities on our farm yet, so we ask that all campers must be fully self contained, with their own toilet , water and power.

We loved the tranquility and the views! Petrina was a welcoming host who met us at her gate and directed us to our own huge site. We loved having a firepit off the ground and the night skies went on forever! The grass was green and mowed. We stayed 2 nights but could have spent a week! Delightful Deloraine is 20 mins away, and we drove around to Liffey Falls for a lovely rainforest walk. We will be back!!

Ample space for each group .. no over crowding
Host was very approachable, and made check in simple.
I needed a couple of days to get offline and back to basics. This was ideal. No internet access at the campsite .. but close by on the property if needed.
Dog friendly .. which was much appreciated as my dog has cancer and our days of adventuring are numbered

Hilltop is a place like no other. The true definition of peace and tranquility while taking in the most magnificent views. A regular place for us to visit, each time is as magnificent as the first. Huge open areas, you will never be close to your neighbour with endless room to enjoy! The horses are an added excitement for the kids, enjoying a carrot or apple. Petrina is a beautiful host, always only too happy to help and it’s always fantastic to catch up on our visits. Couldn’t recommend more highly - our favourite place in Tassie!

The Farm Cradle Country had beautiful views over the fields towards the hills.
The caravan site had lovely mowed green grass and was nice and level.
There was a communal fire pit to enjoy with supplied firewood.
When we stayed we had the place to ourselves which was awesome.

This spot has it all - location, solitude, views and sunsets. An easy drive from Devonport, with Sheffield nearby for food, coffee and water, the 3 days we spent at the Farm were the perfect beginning to our Tasmanian holiday. So much to see in the area, with Cradle mountain the highlight. A pre-dinner walk through Shae and Steve’s block was also beautiful. Thankyou!

This camp site was fantastic. Very quiet, free range chickens running about. Beautiful pine trees, big grassy sites. We stayed in site 1, which is on its own, but plenty of room on the rest of the sites. Communal fire pit with plenty of firewood. Met Steve, top bloke! Wish we had more time.
