The Craigbourne Dam is a all year round recreational fishing ground and stocks many species of fish i.e. Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout to name a few.
Our property is a pet friendly park but we do ask all patrons to be considerate of the surrounding farmland and live stock .
As we are a fully self contained campground we do not provide power, toilets or showers. You'll need to have your own amenities and discard of any rubbish .
Limit phone coverage but still enough to call/text
Contained campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood for sale for a small fee (see Extras).
IMPORTANT : Any guest that wish to fish the Craigbourne Dam will be asked to purchase a angling license for the duration of their stay .

Located an hours drive North West of Hobart near the quaint little town of Ouse (pronounced - ooze) and set on the pristine Derwent River. Like so many of the towns on the Derwent River, this region is very popular with bushwalkers, fishing enthusiasts, and mountain bike riders.
Overlooking the "pot-belly" of the Derwent River, This place is a fishing and kayaking heaven . Have a swim in summer, kayak or go for an adventure on your mountain bike. There are two kayaks and two SUPs you are welcome to use. And there is a boat ramp just a few kms down the road to launch your boat.
The Bunkhouse is a beautifully built structure, with large windows and plenty of space. It's two storey, with the upper open-plan level accommodating 8 people in single bunk beds. A further two guests can sleep on the large sofa bed downstairs.
The bunkhouse is fully self-contained with a kitchenette, toilet and shower.Clean sheets and blankets . Wi- Fi and streamed TV movie channels Please note - this is not the ritz! It's a simple bunkhouse, providing shelter to sleep, in a great location. If you wish to make use of the firepit, you'll need to BYO wood, this firepit is not often used. Instead, we'd recommend bringing a small portable bbq with you to set up by the river!

Plenty of open space. In a great location to base yourself for a few days and visit the many surrounding attractions 40 mins to Hobart 25mins to Richmond. 1hr plus to Port Arthur or Marion Beach

Huge camping area but not a lot of flat spots so vans will need some levelling. Views over the dam were lovely, lots of grassy space for kids and dogs to run around. Access was really easy with our 22ft van - dirt road straight off the highway. Quiet, peaceful camp with friendly hosts!

Very nice place to unwind and relax we had it all to ourselves by booking all the 3 sites but this Hipcamp would be fine to share as there is plenty of room and the camp sites are separated by a group of trees. There are pizza ovens near the yurt that we used to make some pizzas and the weather was great. If you wake up early enough you get some lovely photos of the glassy river and surrounding hills. Very much recommend this Hipcamp.
