This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here.
It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay.
EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want.
The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like.
This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too.
Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility.

Really lovely Hipcamp with mountain and forest views. A short walk into the village and bonus access to an onsite toilet.
The camping area was reasonably flat and grassy with perimeter fencing.
Very quiet and peaceful location and plenty of space to manoeuvre a caravan. Would definitely recommend.

For $30 this place was fine. Bit of a walk to get to the toilet and a few obstacles and hazards so make sure you check the way to the toilet before dark and also have a torch if going in the night. Bring toilet paper as only one roll was supplied and there were 5 groups of campers. Didnt want to call or ring the bell at 6am to wake the host for more, lucky we had our own. There are also a lot of pet geese which are right at the fence so quite noisy.
Overall though, for $30 it was ok for the night.

We tent camped for a night. Location was good with a nice outlook. There are some good flat areas at the bottom of the camping area but the top section looked to be on quite a slope.
Uphill walk to toilet was not too far and toilet was clean. With only one toilet being available it could be a bit of a wait if the camp ground is full. We didn't have a problem with that as we were only sharing with about 4 other groups.

Great aspect .. with commanding views of Huntsman Lake and the Western Tiers
Ample space for each group .. no over crowding
Host was very approachable, and made check in simple.
I needed a couple of days to get offline and back to basics. This was ideal. No internet access at the campsite .. but close by on the property if needed.
Dog friendly .. which was much appreciated as my dog has cancer and our days of adventuring are numbered

The burgers at the Meander store always draw me back. As does the salmon at 41 Degrees South Salmon Farm - another dog friendly venue

The Farm Cradle Country had beautiful views over the fields towards the hills.
The caravan site had lovely mowed green grass and was nice and level.
There was a communal fire pit to enjoy with supplied firewood.
When we stayed we had the place to ourselves which was awesome.

This spot has it all - location, solitude, views and sunsets. An easy drive from Devonport, with Sheffield nearby for food, coffee and water, the 3 days we spent at the Farm were the perfect beginning to our Tasmanian holiday. So much to see in the area, with Cradle mountain the highlight. A pre-dinner walk through Shae and Steve’s block was also beautiful. Thankyou!

Cherry Top was an absolute delight. The owners were cordial and accommodating. The tenting area was so easy to set up! You know when you can't drive the pegs in for all the gravel? Not the case here. Smooth pegs for daaaaays. Not far from the quaint community of Lilydale, which has a public pool, library (only open some days) and a few cute shops. Wild blackberries abound!
If you have the time, ask about the story of the Hazelnut child! Heck, might as well grab a bag of Hazelnuts while you're here 😉

The property and owners were beautiful and so generous. Stunning quiet get away with plenty of room to explore. Our group loved the farm tour in the morning, what a special place and experience. Our students have said this stay was one of the highlights of their 5 day trip in Tassie

Very basic site. Pretty awful TBH!
3 portaloos, no showers, old sink with a hose is all there is for washing dishes.
Over priced IMHO.
Booked for two nights but didn’t stay for second night.
Would not recommend.

Camping was fantastic. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful. Great location for exploring Cradle Mountain.
But we thought the cost of “catch and release” fishing was over the top. We thought we might have a go, but decided against it.
We purchased fire wood, which was very moist and needed to be split into very small pieces to get it to burn. Wouldn’t have had a hope without an axe!

We had a lovely night at Tiana's shared with the cows and Alpacas. The sunset was spectacular. Sites 1-6 are gravelled and it was easy to back our 7.7m motorhome in and get a level spot. Site 6 has a little fire area with a wind break. Nice! The other sites are larger and on the other side of the hill, so I guess it deoends which way the wind is blowing which is the more sheltered side. Definately recommend this place.

A great experience - booked late on Friday night and host accepted the booking within the hour with no fuss, site is in an amazing location on the doorstep of the National Park and we were fortunate to have it to ourselves (plus a few curious wallabies for company).

Pleasant and quiet spot near the beautiful bushland above Penguin. We hiked and rode our bikes and generally relaxed. Great views (when the weather is clear) and lots of power and water. Toilets but no showers. Big shout out to Remy the dog, who is very cheeky and loved to snooze outside our awning (and inside when she could sneak in).
