The property is accessed via a private road so it is incredibly quiet and serene. Instead, get lost in the sound of wild-life all around you! Your campsite is surrounded by native trees and scrub so it’s not unusual to have kangaroos, koalas, and native birds like kookaburras and cockatoos stop by for a visit. Behind your campsite there's an organic fruit orchard where the chickens forage. The property also features paddocks with roaming sheep and an alpaca. Let the host know if you would like a farm tour or to join in feeding the farm animals. We only allow one group on our campsite at a time to ensure you have a peaceful and quiet stay. A working cattle farm with beautiful Poll Hereford cattle roaming the 160-acre block. The Marne River flows down through the block with ancient indigenous canoe trees dotted along the river which flows for approx 10 months of the year. Walk to the the top of the block for 180 degree views of Eden Valley and surrounds. Your booking will give you exclusive rights to camping, so no need to worry about noisy neighbours! Canoe Trees and the Marne River Take a stroll along the river, looking for canoe trees. First Nations people of the lower Murray River formerly made large canoes from the bark of Red Gum trees. They used canoes to transport goods and move long distances along the river system. The Marne River in southeast South Australia starts below Eden Valley at an elevation of 366m and ends at an elevation of 5.06m flowing into the River Murray. The Marne River drops around 361m over its 69.5km length. https://www.acmi.net.au/works/111350--aboriginal-canoe-trees-of-the-murray/ History of Eden Valley The land of the Ngadjuri People, Traditional Owners of the Eden Valley region. South Australia’s beautiful Eden Valley, known as the garden of grapes and gums, is one of Australia’s premier cool climate wine regions characterised by its rugged beauty and varied topography. Eden Valley was named by the surveyors of the area after they found the word "Eden" carved into a tree. The beautiful rolling hills of the region create a natural diversity in mesoclimate determined by altitude, aspect and slope, which also naturally impacts the soil type. It is therefore critical to match the correct grape variety and site. Overall, the region is characterised by cooler conditions than its famous neighbour, the Barossa Valley, and as such the final stages of ripening and harvesting take place in cooler temperatures. Eden Valley wines are distinctive in their character, displaying wonderful aromatics, elegance, complexity and finesse. Eden Valley shares a proud German heritage with it's neighbour the Barossa Valley, collectively known as the Barossa region. English and German immigrants settled here in the early to mid-19th century, establishing the township in the 1860s. With a wine-making history dating back to 1847, Eden Valley is home to some of the world’s oldest Shiraz and Riesling vineyards. We are a family of 5 with 3 children who love to explore and learn about the history of the places we visit. So, we hope you enjoy this little snippet! CFS Fire Ban 2024 starts NOVEMBER 15th 2024 and ends APRIL 30th 2025 no campfires between these dates. Dreaming of a retreat in the heart of the Adelaide Hills? Bradbury Nature Retreat is located on a stunning 11 acre property that offers glorious uninterrupted views all the way to Aldinga Beach (just ask the host to show you where you can find this secret view). We are a small, family owned and run hobby farm. Eggs and other farm produce for sale on request when there is surplus. Campfires allowed when restrictions aren't in place (firewood available to buy at our wood stall). To learn more about us follow us on Instagram @bradbury.nature.retreat and don't forget to tag us in your camping photos! Experiences around Bradbury: • Our property is 5km from Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary, the home to countless Australian native animals and the only place on mainland South Australia where you can see the elusive platypus! • Just a 7-minute drive to both Between the Vines and Deviation Road Winery where you can unwind from a hard week at work with a sophisticated wine and grazing platter whilst surrounded by vineyards and beautiful bushland. • On the main street in Stirling you will find the artisan ice-creamery, chocolate and lolly shop, Hokey Pokey. Our favourite is their house-made ice-cream made with biodynamic dairy and local, seasonal produce! • If you’re looking for somewhere to go for dinner Bradbury isn’t far from the Aldgate Pump Hotel, the Stirling Hotel and the Crafers Hotel, just to name a few. • For the plant lovers, Tupelo Grove Nursery is a 7-minute drive away in the outskirts of Mylor. This family-owned nursery is a must see and is known to be the go to place for harder to find, unique plants!

Also in Hindmarsh Valley is the lovely restaurant Lost Phoenix Farm. Over your stay, you will likely encounter our two dogs, Lola and Sherlock, who very much enjoy meeting our guests. Lola is particularly fond of children and loves to play fetch with them, whilst Sherlock will try charm you out of your sausages. Despite what he says, he is well fed at home. They are both good at giving high fives. If you would prefer not to see the dogs, please just let us know and we will keep them under strict supervision. An RV dump point is located on Adelaide Road, Victor Harbor, within the tourist information bay, 200m south of Waterport Road, approximately 10 minutes from the site.
