Serenity is nestled quietly amongst 42 acres of peppermint gum scrub sheltered by the ranges west of Tarlee. Here you will find spacious camping spots, room to explore or relax, peaceful starry nights, quiet country roads for walking or pushbike riding with spectacular views of the ranges and the valley as well as kangaroos, kookaburras, possums and more native wildlife.
Children love to ride their push bikes down the hills and through the tracks and explore here, it's perfect for outdoor imagination and bundles of energy. Campers have made cubbies in the trees, tyre swings and set up hammocks for lazy afternoons or a swing. Pets are also very happy here and love to come camping.
Bush camping at its best with firewood available to purchase on arrival, $25 for a large container and fire drums are provided as well as a clean long drop toilet for your convenience.

A brief history of Ballara...Ballara is the 100-year-old family home built for William and Emilia (Millie) Baker & their five children. Built in 1910, it is understood Millie would not come to Warooka until the house was finished and furnished! Wise woman!William Baker came to Warooka as a young boy in 1884 with his mother, sister and 2 brothers, after the sudden death of his father.In the early 1900s, Will and his brother Alf became storekeepers, trading as Baker Bros. and running 2 stores in Warooka. Will, Alf and younger brother, Tom, also went on to become farmers.William met Millie when she came from Ballarat to visit her sister who lived at Warooka. Millie named her new home 'Ballara' in memory of her home town.A feature of the house is its ornate ceilings, and story has it that visitors came from afar especially to view them.William ran a wheat agency from an office on the front verandah and was also a contact for World War 1 recruitment.In 1927, William sadly died at only 50 years of age, leaving Millie on her own with their 5 children Doreen, Dulcie, William jr. (Bill), Ron, and Betsy.Millie died in 1965 and Ron continued living at Ballara until his death in 1988.Having never married and with no children of his own, Ron left the house and contents to his 10 nieces and nephews.After the family furniture was divided, Bill bought the house and placed it in the names of his three daughters.Carli and Penny were both able to enjoy some time living in the family home. Ballara still remains in the Baker family and is currently being cared for by Bill’s youngest daughter, Steph.

Avondale is a working family farm located perfectly between both the beautiful Clare Valley and picturesque Barossa. Located approximately 11 kms from Riverton and an hour north of Adelaide.
Our campground consists of 6 designated van sites with a central fire pit. Individual fire buckets and wood can be provided at an extra charge ($25). Our camping sites are located in a picturesque tree lined gully. A precious slice of untouched beauty. Please don’t help yourself to our trees (no chainsaws).
As we are a working farm, with sheep and alpacas surrounding the campsite, dogs must remain on lead at all times. It is also dog owners responsibility to cleanup after their pets. Please also remain on designated tracks to walk along. Views of sunsets from the top of the hill are breathtaking. Please also always leave gates as you find them.
The local council district provides cafes, amazing pub food (our personal favourite, The Tarlee Hotel), bakeries and push bike tracks. Not to mention wineries.
Generators are welcome, but please be respectful of fellow campers. No motorbikes to be ridden on property, but push bikes welcome. There is currently no toilet or potable water available.

Tim was super helpful and quick to respond to our question. The property is located in a great location for exploring the local area and close to Kardina to get any shopping etc done.
Was difficult to get our van level on site 2 and access to the water is suitable for mountain goats. The water in front of the camp was not suitable for swimming when we were there because of weed and the bottom was like black muddy quicksand.
A peaceful quiet location on the edge of the water if you want to just sit and chill and admire the sunsets.

Wow! We absolutely were blown away by this hipcamp. Gorgeous views, clean and serene.
We have a 23 ft van which isn’t always easy to navigate to what feels like remote places and this did the trick.
Tim was incredibly friendly, signage/directions were clear and the grounds were well kept. We will certainly be back especially with its proximity to Adelaide.

We stayed January 22nd to the 27th, 2026 with extreme heat on two of the days 44-46 degrees. The mornings were so peaceful and quiet with a cool breeze sweeping off the water until about 12pm each day. Watching the black swans and other bird life in the water was really relaxing and entertaining. Moonta, Port Broughton and Kadina are only a short drive from Tickera with plenty of places to dine at. Absolutely beautiful sunsets with the most stunning colours, they seemed to linger, and each night we watched the moon go down over the water each night.

Stunning uninterrupted gulf views, peaceful and quiet.
Easy to find and didn’t take much to level our caravan. Easy access via a good dirt road.
Next campers are a good distance away, so genuinely felt like solitude.
Like many have said - beautiful sunsets but the moon sparkling on the water at night and the clear views of the stars, made the nights even better! No mozzies, which was a bargain! Pleasant evenings under the stars!
Dog loved being able to chill with us and not have to be tied up.
Had some kangaroos grazing in the fields behind us and loads of bird life on the gulf in front of us.
Lots to do and see in nearby Wallaroo, good restaurants, a drive on beach - the beach has a long shallow area and is firm, nice for a lazy swim to cool down.
We will definitely go back!

Spectacular water views and very quiet. Tom was very responsive to communication and allowed us to swap sites after we had booked. You do need levelling ramps on site 1 and 3. We did have 30 knot winds on the night we stayed, which is not ideal for a roof top tent. The wind was gone by morning and the views were gorgeous.

We had an awsome time at site 2 at tickera seaview camp with the van, reasonably flattish but you will need to bring levelling ramp, no shade and no protection from the wind, we unfortunately copped very strong winds for most of our 5 days as did Adelaide. Nice easy walk to Tickera via the beach, thanks Tom for opening your property.

Site 2 is the pick with easy drive through access and the most level of the three.
Absolutely no one around. Peaceful. Quite. Beautiful.

Nice rolling hills to camp on, there are few flat spots and some on a slight slope. Plenty of space. Nothing significantly pretty about the place, but still nice countryside views. Area was tidy and mowed. Good amount of firewood for $25
