Built in 1910, it is understood Millie would not come to Warooka until the house was finished and furnished! Wise woman!William Baker came to Warooka as a young boy in 1884 with his mother, sister and 2 brothers, after the sudden death of his father.In the early 1900s, Will and his brother Alf became storekeepers, trading as Baker Bros. and running 2 stores in Warooka. Will, Alf and younger brother, Tom, also went on to become farmers.William met Millie when she came from Ballarat to visit her sister who lived at Warooka. Millie named her new home 'Ballara' in memory of her home town.A feature of the house is its ornate ceilings, and story has it that visitors came from afar especially to view them.William ran a wheat agency from an office on the front verandah and was also a contact for World War 1 recruitment.In 1927, William sadly died at only 50 years of age, leaving Millie on her own with their 5 children Doreen, Dulcie, William jr. Our prime location provides the perfect backdrop for your outdoor adventure. Escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Wake up to the sounds of nature, breathe fresh air, and take in stunning views of the pink lake.
Our facilities include two spacious high quality (5 metre diameter) bell tents with two king zip-apart beds inside each tent. Both tents are equipped with electrical power with bedside lights, a smoke alarm and a heater. Both tents also have a table, two chairs and luggage racks. One tent also has a fridge and microwave.
Adjacent the tents is a lockable, modern private bathroom facility with a hot shower, flushing toilet and hand-basin. Towels, shampoo and conditioner is supplied.
Adjacent the two tents is a larger kitchen tent with basic cooking facilities (electric frypan, toaster, kettle etc) and plenty of tables and chairs.
There is plenty of outdoor space to relax and an outdoor fire pit (for use outside fire-ban season) where you can enjoy a fire-side chat and roast marshmallows together as you gaze at the Milky Way.
Whether you book a single tent or two tents we guarantee exclusive use of the camping site so there is no sharing the site with other campers!

We loved our stay here – amazing views right by the water. With only three sites it feels very private, and site 3, where we stayed, is nicely secluded by bushes which gives even more privacy. The sunset views were absolutely beautiful.

Great Hipcamp right on the ocean. Wide open farm land with three excellent sites.
Site 2 is the pick with easy drive through access and the most level of the three.
Absolutely no one around. Peaceful. Quite. Beautiful.

We LOVED our stay! Exactly what the shacknof my dreams is (and more!). Back to basics with the cutest touches of rustic design, the amazing mezzanine and cave which the kids thought was super exciting! The outside kitchen with the perfect amount of shelter, the barn doors that let the breeze in and the amazing beach just two minutes walk away. Such a great spot to relax and rest. Amazing for the dog too! We’ll totally be back.

Nice rolling hills to camp on, there are few flat spots and some on a slight slope. Plenty of space. Nothing significantly pretty about the place, but still nice countryside views. Area was tidy and mowed. Good amount of firewood for $25

I had a great stay and thank you to Russell and Alison for being so positive in opening up their property to motorcycle camping. I found a great spot to pitch my tent and it was nice to sit back and enjoy the afternoon, as well as the colour changes with the setting sun.

Our host was lovely and welcoming and the campsite was perfect. A lovely outlook of trees and open farmland. Peaceful with only the sounds of sheep and birds for company. We’ll definitely be keeping this one on our list of stays in future.

Great spot to stay off grid with 6-7 individual sites on the property. Some sites are close enough together that you could stay with a group but still have your own space. Only one other caravan there when we stayed so we were very secluded and couldn’t see them directly from our site. Good size long drop toilet area with motion lighting for night use. Very clean.
Hosts were friendly though we rarely saw them. $25 for a decent size container of firewood delivered to our site seemed pretty reasonable. It’s a natural area, so the sites have a small slope and you might need some extra caravan levellers pending your setup and site. Easy drive to Clare and Burra. Our dogs loved the property’s dam! Our favourite Hip Camp so far. 😊

Was an awesome camp spot not far from Wallaroo. Stayed on a clear sunny day so the sunset was unreal. The views from the site up on the hill over the bay and gulf were amazing. Recommend bringing some levelling boards especially if your in a rooftop tent but this is a minor inconvenience when you see the view from your tent in the morning

Amazing view. We arrived in an absolute storm. Rain going sideways. Russell & Alison were on hand to show us where to set up but given the weather we headed for a motel. The property is beautiful with a variety of great looking camp spots. We’ll be back :)
