There are more fish than people in this pint-sized Eyre Peninsula port.
If you’re looking for a friendly, small-town feel with beachfront camping, Arno Bay is the ideal spot to escape the crowds. Halfway between Whyalla and Port Lincoln, the tiny fishing port of Arno Bay has little more than 300 residents, but it’s still one of the fishing capitals of the eastern Eyre Peninsula. Whether you charter a local fishing boat, bring your own boat, or cast a line from the Arno Bay jetty, you’ll be in with a chance of hooking a giant pink snapper, along with King George whiting, salmon, and mulloway. Campers can choose from two campgrounds, both with powered sites and hot showers, or rent a cabin right by the jetty. If you want to explore further, head north to Whyalla to spot giant Australian cuttlefish and dolphins or continue south to reach the coastal hiking trails and remote campgrounds of Lincoln National Park and Coffin Bay National Park.
