This scrubland is a part of our larger cropping property which has been in our family since the 1950s. As crop farmers we farm Wheat, Barley, Lentils and Oats. Each of the 3 camp grounds available, offer private unimpeded views over the Spencer Gulf shoreline. Tickera is the home of the Blue Swimmer Crab so bring your crab rakes and explore the shallows for your dinner. Tickera is located 2 hours north of Adelaide on the Northern Yorke Peninsula. Wallaroo is 20 min south of the camp grounds with beautiful drive on beaches. Port Broughton is. 30 min North, there are endless places to explore.

We are located just off the Horrocks Highway on the way to the Clare Valley amongst 42 acres of peppermint gum scrub sheltered by the ranges west of Tarlee. Here you will find lovely spread out camping spots with plenty of space to explore, quiet country roads for walking or riding with spectacular views of the ranges and valley as well as Kangaroos, Kookaburras and more native wildlife. Bush camping at its best. Firewood available to purchase on arrival, $25 for a large container and fire drums are provided. NO CHAINSAWS A beautiful peaceful spot with plenty of space for caravans, campers, tents and swags. We have a small flock of sheep to pat, children love to ride their push bikes down the hills and through the tracks. Our scrub is perfect for outdoor imagination and bundles of energy. Campers have made cubbies in the trees, tyre swings and set up hammocks for lazy afternoons or a swing. Pick a site that suits you best, set up camp, light a fire and sit back and relax. A brief history of Ballara...Ballara is the 100-year-old family home built for William and Emilia (Millie) Baker & their five children. Built in 1910, it is understood Millie would not come to Warooka until the house was finished and furnished! Wise woman!William Baker came to Warooka as a young boy in 1884 with his mother, sister and 2 brothers, after the sudden death of his father.In the early 1900s, Will and his brother Alf became storekeepers, trading as Baker Bros. and running 2 stores in Warooka. Will, Alf and younger brother, Tom, also went on to become farmers.William met Millie when she came from Ballarat to visit her sister who lived at Warooka. Millie named her new home 'Ballara' in memory of her home town.A feature of the house is its ornate ceilings, and story has it that visitors came from afar especially to view them.William ran a wheat agency from an office on the front verandah and was also a contact for World War 1 recruitment.In 1927, William sadly died at only 50 years of age, leaving Millie on her own with their 5 children Doreen, Dulcie, William jr. (Bill), Ron, and Betsy.Millie died in 1965 and Ron continued living at Ballara until his death in 1988.Having never married and with no children of his own, Ron left the house and contents to his 10 nieces and nephews.After the family furniture was divided, Bill bought the house and placed it in the names of his three daughters.Carli and Penny were both able to enjoy some time living in the family home. Ballara still remains in the Baker family and is currently being cared for by Bill’s youngest daughter, Steph.

Nice rolling hills to camp on, there are few flat spots and some on a slight slope. Plenty of space. Nothing significantly pretty about the place, but still nice countryside views. Area was tidy and mowed. Good amount of firewood for $25

I had a great stay and thank you to Russell and Alison for being so positive in opening up their property to motorcycle camping. I found a great spot to pitch my tent and it was nice to sit back and enjoy the afternoon, as well as the colour changes with the setting sun.

Our host was lovely and welcoming and the campsite was perfect. A lovely outlook of trees and open farmland. Peaceful with only the sounds of sheep and birds for company. We’ll definitely be keeping this one on our list of stays in future.

Great spot to stay off grid with 6-7 individual sites on the property. Some sites are close enough together that you could stay with a group but still have your own space. Only one other caravan there when we stayed so we were very secluded and couldn’t see them directly from our site. Good size long drop toilet area with motion lighting for night use. Very clean. Hosts were friendly though we rarely saw them. $25 for a decent size container of firewood delivered to our site seemed pretty reasonable. It’s a natural area, so the sites have a small slope and you might need some extra caravan levellers pending your setup and site. Easy drive to Clare and Burra. Our dogs loved the property’s dam! Our favourite Hip Camp so far. 😊

Was an awesome camp spot not far from Wallaroo. Stayed on a clear sunny day so the sunset was unreal. The views from the site up on the hill over the bay and gulf were amazing. Recommend bringing some levelling boards especially if your in a rooftop tent but this is a minor inconvenience when you see the view from your tent in the morning

Amazing view. We arrived in an absolute storm. Rain going sideways. Russell & Alison were on hand to show us where to set up but given the weather we headed for a motel. The property is beautiful with a variety of great looking camp spots. We’ll be back :)

We took a group of friends here for their first camping experience. Lots of space, and the amenities (toilet, hot showers, communal kitchen) helped ease them in to the camping lifestyle. David and Michelle were such great and welcoming hosts and were very easy to communicate with. We definitely will come back and highly recommend this campsite

Fantastic camping spot ! First time here and would recommend to anyone. We really enjoyed our time amongst nature and beauty of the place.. it was peaceful and serene. We also enjoyed time in front of the fire at night. Lots of space to explore during the day, and we were grateful for the pit toilet. Thanks Russell and Alison for your beautiful place!
