3 Bares Retreat

3 Bares Retreat is a clothing optional naturist retreat located in the stunning Atherton Tablelands of Far North Queensland, just an hour’s drive from Cairns CBD. We offer a safe, private friendly adults only place for you to enjoy.

The retreat features an on-site caravan for hire, along with flat, powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites. We provide a spacious camp kitchen, shower block, toilets, and laundry facilities. There is also a dump point on site for those who are self-contained. Guests also have access to filtered drinking water. 

Our grounds are rich with the natural beauty and wildlife of FNQ, ready for you to explore. Enjoy sweeping views from the camp kitchen balcony, take a dip in our pool or the picturesque Clohesy River that borders the property, or cosy up by a warm log fire in the evening.

We’re pet-friendly too—just please ensure your furry friends are kept on a lead at all times.

We warmly welcome nudists, LGBTQI+ guests, and anyone curious to try the lifestyle. We are now clothing-optional, so come and enjoy our little slice of paradise. There are plenty of games to enjoy, including Boule, Finska, darts, archery, volleyball, as well as board and card games—or simply relax and unwind.

The natural bushland and gardens attract a wide variety of birdlife, butterflies, and other creatures, offering wonderful opportunities for birdwatching or simply soaking up the sights and sounds of nature.

20 acres secluded in the rolling hills of the Atherton Tablelands on the top of the Gillies. A farm stay awaits with access to shower and toilet facilities this newly opened powered camping property is the perfect place to base yourself while you enjoy the local tourist attractions.

We require 24 hours notice for camping- but send a message I’m sure we can fit you in

Tours of the farm are available on request including hand feeding cows and collecting coloured eggs from our chickens.

While pets are welcome we ask they are restrained at all times. We allow pets at the site for $10 per pet/per night. If you would like to bring a pet, please add the Pet Fee which is listed as an Extra during the booking process.

Note on entrance road a few campers with vans have asked- I am not a caravanner so I’m not sure what’s important to you 

- It is public road to our gate

- the last 400m or so is gravel. 

- eastern connection road is single lane bitumen. 

- The large school bus terminates at the intersection of Adams and eastern connection.

- we have had several large vans stay with us and they have not had any issues with access

Our host has expertly constructed the cabin from a combination of recycled and new materials, featuring large windows that offer breath-taking views of the surrounding landscape.

Booking the cabin grants you exclusive use of the entire campsite, and you have the option to invite friends and family to join you for a small fee. The cabin itself provides a peaceful retreat, equipped with a comfortable bed, fresh linens, and all the amenities you need to feel at home. Platypus Bend

This campsite would accommodate multiple camper vans and cars, and is located on the bend of the creek with steps down into the water. There are large trees and abundant bird life, and you may spot a
platypus if lucky.
A large fire pit is set up for all your camp oven cooking.

Chirpy Camp

This is a very private camp for tent or a roof top camper, maximum 2 people. Camp by the creek and enjoy the birdlife, and peace and quite. There is an open fire available and plenty of wood to collect.

Chicken Run Camp

This is a peaceful campsite, with plenty of timber for an open fire, and flat grassy areas. It's a short walk to creek. Abundant bird life. Wake up to the rooster crowing, goats baaing and birds chirping.
Enjoy the evenings around the campfire.

Resonance - Forest Song

Boonjie is a great place to base yourself to visit the amazing sights in the surrounding area! Our property has beautiful native visitors, including the occasional cassowary, and regular morning choir of ground dwelling chowachillas.

This campsite suits self reliant and self contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and water supply.

Lamins Hill lookout, and the entrances to Windin Falls, and the famous trek up Queensland’s Highest Mountain, are only minutes away. So too, are the Atherton Tablelands‘ crater lakes, Eacham & Barrine, and the small town of Malanda, with its iconic falls, both designated swimming destinations, though, highlights are the clear creeks between there and Boonjie (means mate). This is near “Top Camp”, where First Nations people would arrive after the gruelling walk up the Russel River, from the coast, where Innisfail now stands (Innisfail can be seen from the top road). 

With evidence of European and Chinese gold miners, from the 1900’s, this spot is both remote AND central, for a day trip to Millaa Millaa’s extraordinary Falls circuit, Herberton’s Historical Village and the flowered and funky Yungaburra.

Tolga Caravan Park is situated on the Kennedy Highway at the northern end of the Tolga Scrub, the last remnants of the endangered Mabi Rainforest in the region. The Scrub is home to an abundant variety of local wildlife, including the Spectacled Flying Fox – with the Scrub being their only permanent camp on the Tablelands.

We have easy access, large, grassy, flat sites with some drive through sites available. We offer powered and un-powered sites.

We also have onsite cabins – with more accommodation options coming soon.

The Rail Trail can be accessed to the rear of the property offering guests a great walking or bike riding trail with direct access to Atherton and to the Tolga Hotel.

A few places to explore are Lake Tinaroo, Paronella Park, Yungaburra platypus viewing, Crater Lakes, Herberton Historic Museum, Millaa Millaa Waterfalls, Curtain Fig Tree and Gallo Dairy Farm to name a few. A perfect base for all of your Tablelands exploring.

Pets are welcome if you have your own van.

The park is walking distance to coffee shops, takeaway, Tolga Hotel, newsagent, bakery, hair salon and The Humpy. Supermarkets and the main town of Atherton are just a 5 minute drive along with a dump point.
