However you choose to spend your day, you'll be happy to know that also in the beachside town of Midge Point, you'll find the Point tavern, for delicious dinner and cold beers!
And for only a five minute drive, you'll find the 24hr BP service station, with a bottle shop open 10am-8pm. They also provide hot showers!
The property is roamed by many farm and wild animals! Keep an eye out for the gorgeous wildlife amongst the property, as you may be lucky enough to see an echidna or a dear! We have domesticated donkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, birds etc-please note our animals are free range so please ensure you secure your food and belongings. And don't worry, they're all very friendly and love a pet! 🐷🫏

Ben Lomond Station is an 1800 acre working cattle station 25 minutes south of Bowen and 35 minutes north of Airlie Beach on the Whitsundays. We border onto Eden Lassie Creek which has tidal ocean access for saltwater fishing and there is an abundance of estuary fishing and crab spots available.
We are a nature based camping area. Cleared shady camping spots are available for fully self contained campers as there are currently no facilities available so you must have own camping toilet and leave no trace.
Access to the camping area is for 4WD only with caravans off road and high clearance.
Firewood is available for a small fee or you can collect any fallen timber yourself. There is a ban on cutting down any standing timber even it is dead.
There is plenty of room to run for the kids and dogs though we do ask that your pet not annoy our cattle or other campers.
Ben Lomond station has an abundance of flora and fauna such as burdekin plum trees, mango trees, wallabies, kangaroos and bird and fish species.

When people visit Diamond Ridge Grazing they feel like they have stepped back in time. With limited phone reception you will be able to fully immerse yourself in nature and enjoy all the beauty our property has to offer.
The property offers large grassy camping areas and as we are over 800 metres above sea level you can enjoy a lovely cool mountainous climate. There is also a flush toilet available at the farm shed. It is the perfect place to relax and switch off from the world.
There is plenty of star gazing and bird watching opportunities or you may just enjoy watching the horses and cattle grazing. If you're lucky you may even spot a Platypus swimming! You are also welcome to enjoy walking around the property but please speak to your host before approaching any of the animals on the property.
You can enjoy all your favourite water sports only 20 minutes away at Eungella Dam. You can also find phone service about 2 kilometres from the property if required.
Campfires are permitted pending there are no restrictions in place and we can supply firewood for you.

Nice and quiet spot secluded from the rest of the camp area. We only really had to supply ourselves with food and drinks as everything else such as firewood and cooking supplies was already supplied. Definitely will be back again.

Weekend Trip to Blackiron
This was such a cute set up and great idea! We had a large car and a jet ski so was the perfect stay with needing a large car park (as it is on a big block). Enjoyed the bath and even got to watch pigs run past the river as we were in it. A little warm with no aircon but was totally manageable and loved listening to the outside noises just like camping!

Colleen was so so accommodating!
Our spot was a short safari trek to get to, but so worth it. Serene, peaceful and private. Right by the river, we fished all afternoon with two good bream on the lines. Heaps of mud crabs too! Afternoon and early morning the cattle walked through our camp and with all the cute calves on ground at the moment, it was lovely. Wallabies and birds all around. Be snake aware, we saw a brown but he moved on quickly.

We loved the location and as others have said we were also a bit wary with the location so close to the road however the area was beautiful and we barely saw another car drive past. Unfortunately we did not see a platypus but the local Cows and Horses kept us company and our dog very intrigued.

We had the option of camping on some nice grassed sites by the creek near the house ,but we opted for a very private site on top of a quite steep hill at the back of the property. We were rewarded with lovely mountain views. We have a 4wd and fully off-road self contained 3m hybrid camper.This site would not suit large vans or small cars.We really enjoyed the tranquillity of having the hilltop all to ourselves . We really enjoyed our stay.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Kingfisher Cabin @ Black Iron. From the moment we arrived, it felt like the perfect place to switch off and recharge. With little to no phone reception, we were able to really disconnect from the hustle and bustle and just soak up the peaceful surroundings.
The cabin itself was cosy and comfortable, with everything we needed for a few nights away. We were greeted by friendly sheep wandering around the property, which added such a charming and homely touch. One of the absolute highlights was the outdoor shower and the incredible fire bath, both such unique experiences that made our stay feel extra special. Sitting in the warm bath under the stars is something we’ll always remember.
We loved spending the day by the creek, enjoying the quiet and watching the sunset in the evenings. It was the kind of stay where time slows down, and you get to really appreciate the simple things,fresh air, nature, and a sense of calm.
Overall, it was the perfect getaway spot, and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed. We’d absolutely recommend the Kingfisher Cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful escape, and we can’t wait to come back again!
