A night viewing of possums and wallabies may be available. It's also bird watchers paradise. Down the back is Ada creek and Emerald Falls is just 4km down the road. Ideal for mountain bikers looking for some accommodation. Be woken up by the birds and watch the wallabies grazing. The hot air balloons take off close by, Emerald Falls is down the road, all the tracks through the Danbulla State Forest are close and there are wineries and distilleries in the district. Total privacy for you.

We absolutely loved our stay at Possum Gully. Site 1 was secluded, and while the creek wasn’t fully flowing, it was ankle deep and suited us with our 2.5yo. We went up the first night to watch the animals being fed and this was the absolute highlight! I would recommend this to any friends looking for a lowkey stay that’s private and quiet

The site (we had site 3) was very open with plenty of space for tents and cars. It had a bathroom block where we set our portable toilet and shower - Way better than setting up our ensuite. The creek was minimal during our time (dry season) but still enough to entertain the kids and cool off. With a bit of rain it would be amazing during the wet season. We had local furry creatures visit us a few times when the site was quiet. Also, on the property, we saw a Frilled Neck Lizard over a metre long... we called him 'Fred'. -Amazing There are 2 approx. 20 min drives to Mareeba for necessities, we took the back roads. Saw a Brown snake, a lot of rural living and farm land. The hosts are lovely and respect privacy. We will be going back without the kids to enjoy the peace Wally's Roost has to offer.

1 night at Wally's Roost

Camped for one night at Site 1 - Possum Gully. This camp site was well maintained, clean and spacious for multiple vehicles with a camp fire pit provided. This was the most secluded site of the three and only a short walk to the portaloo. Phil and Janette were both excellent hosts, supplying us with firewood for our stay. They invited guests to attend their nightly feedings of the wildlife which was a great experience. Janette shared a wealth of knowledge about the animals and we were lucky enough to see many animals, including Sparkles the possum and her new twin babies. I would highly recommend this camp site to others travelling through the Atherton region. I would definitely camp here again.

Site 2 at Wally's is set by a lovely creek where could sit and enjoy a fire and wildlife. We also enjoyed watching bettongs and possums feeding. Our stay was very peaceful.

We just stayed at site 3 Wally’s waterhole and absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful, peaceful spot — nice and quiet, with the sound of the creek in the background. It was great for a dip and the perfect place to unwind. We brought our dogs along and they had the best time exploring. So good to find a dog-friendly getaway like this. Highly recommend!

We loved Wally's roost, it was very secluded plenty of space for the 7 of us, safe creek right next to camp sites. We loved the nocturnal animal feeding at the homestead, and all the wildlife surrounding the property. Feeling refreshed and relaxed after our weekend there. We can't wait to go back to this spot

We had a great weekend at this lovely little spot. The site is not far from the house but it felt very private and is right at the creek. My son had a great time playing at the creek and on the sand. The host was lovely, he welcomed us and left us to it. A perfect weekend spot for those with small kids not far from cairns.

We loved staying by the creek at Wally’s roost . We camped very comfortably in our tents creek side with picture perfect sunset views and the tranquil sound of running water and native animals both sending us to sleep and gently easing us into a new day at sunrise . Perfect for children as they are visible to adults at all times by the water and well kept surrounds . Hosts are very welcoming and provide firewood at a small extra fee . . This gem of a property is close to Atherton and Mareeba should you need anything you may have overlooked or if you wish to visit tourist destinations like granite Gorge rocky creek memorial museum or the waterfalls and or crater lakes . ! We hope to return as we were not there for long enough this visit due to working commitments
