Wes's Camping Grounds is located on the Canal Creek. We have many different sites to choose from, either right beside the creek, amongst the trees or in the open paddock if you need to charge your solar. Also available camper van & tent hire in bookings. Guests are required to be fully self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is something for everyone here at Wes's Camping grounds. With several deep water holes on the property that are home to many fish species just waiting to be caught like yellowbelly, jew and carp. Imagine sitting, relaxing beside the creek while the kids are playing football or swimming just up stream. Bring your pushbikes or even a kayak and paddle up and down the creek. The kids will love to explore the property and shallow rock pools or even swim in the deeper water. Or just simply sit back and relax by the fire side and enjoy the serenity. We are close to Leyburn township with a general store and takeaway shop and of course like most little country towns a fabulous little pub providing a home cooked meal and cold refreshing drinks. Liafail Is a family farm which farms sheep, cattle, ducks and of course our main feature, pigeons. The property has some rustic areas for camping and roaming. Our beautiful private cottage overlooks the lawn and private campfire space. The cottage sleeps 4 with two guests in the large bed and 2 on mattresses on the floor. There is also plenty of space outside for additional guests to set up tents. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable staying including, toilet, shower and kitchen area with plenty of hot water available. Aircon and fans for you to use at your discretion. Indoor wood heater for your enjoyment at no extra charge. The outlook is to a wooded valley with sheep and cattle, light the campfire in the evenings and sit under the stars. Take the kids for a hike up through the hill and check out the various land types. There’s basic wifi, Telstra service. Sorry, no pets allowed.

Campground has heaps of potential for future campers, very professional staff who are passionate about providing a good camping experience for all who arrive from those in tents/swags through to those with caravans. Highly recommend a stay, wander down for a dip in the river or for those who fancy throwing a line in, sit back by the campfire near the river and gaze up at the stars for a relaxing evening.

2 nights at Hunter Downs

We loved a few quiet nights away at this hidden gem. We booked at short notice and had no issues finding the place with clear instructions. The site was perfect, camp fire and bench seats was a lovely little spot to sit back and watch the stars while roasting a few marshmallows. The basic toilet was an appreciated touch for the females in our group. Very private spot, did not see the host (no need - but they were very attentive and quick to respond to messages with questions) it felt very secluded though only a short drive from the town to grab supplies. The horses came down to the damn for a nightly visit which was quite magical. A few local sights worthwhile to visit like the lookout and suspension bridge which is home to beautiful turtles. The locals of laidley were super friendly and we had some great food from the local chippo and bakery. If you are looking for a comfortable off grid stay (dog friendly too!) this place ticks all the boxes. Thanks so much, hope to return sometime!

Great spot on the lake. Very quiet and private but within a short drive to shops and cafes if you need them. Spectacular views and a charming old house. Well maintained garden with plenty of space and a fire pit. House was comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. We made the mistake of leaving the windows open as the sun set and then the house was full of insects (despite the fly screens), so once we knew to avoid that mistake the next night we had no dramas.

We had a gorgeous weekend escape staying in the beautifully set up silo. It was 5deg outside and we were so cosy inside with our fireplace. So quiet, gorgeous views, spectacular sunset, awesome stars. Thought, care and quality has gone into the silo but the property and gardens. Loved it.
