This property is in Northangera with the Mongarlowe River running along the boundary. It's covered in trees and provides a pristine environment amongst the "Scribbly Gums". It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food. Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. There is only Telstra reception available in this area. We offer 7 different sites and the maximum stay is 7 nights.

To the West there are hundreds of kilometres of Forestry and National Park roads through some of the most spectacular forested mountain country east of the Coastal Range. The Clyde River Berry Farm is just minutes down the road. Local fish and chips, great coffee and handmade bread is 25mins drive at Burrill Lake. This 3000 acre property is located close to Nimmitabel and not too far from Cooma. Try your hand at trout fishing and enjoy endless tracks for bushwalking and observing the native wildlife. Wander along the river banks just enjoying the serenity of the location and witness platypus feeding, water dragons sunning themselves and the brown trout fly feeding and one of Australia's beautiful but lesser known native rodents, Rakali (intelligent semi aquatic water rat who's scientific name translates to golden -bellied water mouse). One of Australia's two aquatic mammals, the platypus being the other. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. IF NO CHEMICAL TOILET, DIG A HOLE AT LEAST 30CM DEEP . There is access to a drinking water supply (mountain river water), or you can bring your own water. After heavy rain you may need to boil/filter for drinking. You will need a 4WD to access the campsites closest to the river as there is a shallow gully crossing. Camper trailer or off road pop up campers will be able to negoiate the tracks. Good clearance necessary to pass over one gully crossing. Dogs are welcome, however, we do run sheep in an adjoining paddock so they need to stay close to your camp. Kids aged 16 and under camp for free. There is a dedicated campfire pit so you can stay warm on chilly evenings (please check to see if there is a seasonal fire ban in place). Fire wood can be provided - chainsaws are permitted but be mindful of structures that are animal habitats. Your family may enjoy taking a bushwalk that takes you around the 300 acre native bush paddock. Climb up and get a birds eye view down into a gully of magnificent granite boulders above where the river disappears deep below. Identify the unique sounds of the native birds and follow the tracks wildlife create. We are centrally located - just 1.5 hours from the snowfields and from the best beaches of the NSW coastline. There is a small general store, 2 takeaway cafes and a pub at Nimmitabel, or you can get all supplies in Cooma 25 mins away. Please note that we have very limited reception service for mobiles, so let's communicate via messages before you arrive in our area. I can provide a camping setup if you need extra bedding or you don't have any camping equipment or tent.

The Shack provided us with the perfect long weekend retreat. Phil has set up the Shack with a cooker, chairs, table, comfortable beds and cooking utensils. The view to the river is beautiful and we enjoyed a refreshing swim and paddle board. We loved the indoor and outdoor fire - plenty of firewood provided! The best part - total peace and quiet! We didn’t see anyone else on the property! Thanks Phil - we would love to come back!

We loved staying at the river shack - it has everything you need for a relaxing, off-grid holiday. The shack is well stocked with cooking supplies and firewood and the log burner kept us cosy during the cold nights. The view from the deck was lovely - we even saw 2 platypus! Would definitely recommend the shack!

The most beautiful site on the river. So private, serene and relaxing. We were a bit worried about the cold (sub zero) but the shack is SO cosy with the fire. Well stocked with cooking gear, firewood and two drums of water (we still BYO drinking water). We were visited by a wombat and platypus! Perfect getaway for two couples and a dog.

A secluded little historic village in a peaceful valley. Half hour drive to the start of Pigeonhouse Mountain walk. The restored cottages are so charming, we were comfortable and cosy in ours, loved all the timber and features. Host took extra care to make sure we were comfortable. Highly recommended.

Beautiful little shack in a beautiful location on the riverside. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the evening fire with a good wood supply provided by Phil, very considerate. Highly recommend it if you like a cosy cottage with basic provisions.

What a great spot! Perfect set up. Tranquil setting and easy access. The Shack was so much fun - the kids (3 and 5) absolutely loved it. Phil was super friendly and a great host! Highlight was definitely the platypus who put on a real display for us - multiple times!!

We loved our stay at the shack. The best combination of camping out in a stunning spot away from other people and disconnected, with the benefits of the little shack and not having to actually set up camp! Our favourite things were watching the platypus at dawn and dusk, the wombat that trundled past while we were having dinner and the peacefulness of the river. Lovely little touches in the shack as well. We can’t wait to come back!
