Kookaburra is a 20-acre farm located between Ulladulla and Nowra on the NSW South Coast, just under a three-hour drive from Sydney and Canberra. It offers a peaceful and authentic bush experience, ideal for a weekend getaway or an overnight stop, especially for those travelling through the Jervis Bay area.
Please note: We are a peaceful, family-friendly site and do not accept group bookings under any circumstances. Each site allows one family/vehicle and one trailer/caravan per booking only. No additional vehicles, caravans, or trailers are permitted. If you're unsure whether your setup complies, please contact Christine before booking.
You can camp in an open paddock or relax under the shade of tree canopies. A short bushwalk will take you to a quiet creek, and the area is home to local wildlife, including kookaburras, wallabies, and secretive wombats. The farm also has a variety of animals, including cows, chickens, Elmo the horse and Warren the Sheep, who may greet you when you arrive.
At Kookaburra, we ensure that guests have plenty of space and privacy, although you may occasionally see other visitors in the area. We operate on a self-sufficient basis, so please take all your rubbish with you and respect the natural environment and the next visitors.
Fires are allowed (subject to fire danger conditions), and you're welcome to gather your firewood. 🔥 Firewood for sale at the gate – $20! 🪵🚪.

100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife.
Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks.
If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider.
We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available.
Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers.

Perfect location, loved staying on this property. We enjoyed daily swims in the river, the site was private and well maintained with camping neighbours nowhere near our site.
Vallance and his family were so very friendly and hospitable and we will come back many a time in the future.
Plenty of morning and afternoon shade at the site and because it's a new site there is a huge amount of firewood for campers to utilise.
Nothing negative to say.
Dream camping trip over new years, peaceful, with a mega bonfire put on for guests to celebrate the new year.
Park and trampoline were perfect for kids.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay, and meeting Vallance was one of the highlights of our trip. He is a genuinely big-hearted man whose hospitality, honesty, and kindness are beyond imagination. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and truly looked after.
It is very clear how much hard work, care, and love Vallance puts into maintaining the land and campsites. Everything is thoughtfully prepared, peaceful, and beautifully cared for, which makes the experience even more special.
Our kids were incredibly happy, and as a family we felt relaxed, safe, and connected to nature. The conversations, the warmth, and the genuine human connection made this stay unforgettable.
We are very grateful to have met Vallance — people like him are rare. Without a doubt, we will be coming back, and we highly recommend this place to anyone looking not just for a campsite, but for a meaningful and memorable experience.

We stayed at the Riot campsite and had a lovely time! Loved having the crates of firewood at the gate for purchase, it made our lives a lot easier and warmer when we ran out. Our puppy had his first camping trip here and also had a great time! Would definitely come back :)

Christine's place is everything she described. Quiet and peaceful with an abundance of wild life and some lovely views. The kookaburras and cows were a highlight and the very clean long drop toilet was a bonus. Sites are very very generous, clearly signposted and well maintained. We will definatly be back.

Overall it was a great camp-site. Plenty of area to choose where to pitch your tent. Cows and horse were in close proximity, but not intrusive to the camp-site. Plenty of kookaburras around to see and hear as well as the occasional kangaroo. Dogs loved playing in the nearby creek and there were large open areas for the dogs to roam and explore, with plenty of firewood laying around for you to collect. Particularly liked the fire pit set up with the rocks/stones containing the fire pit. I was a bit worried about how the toilet will be, but I was pleased to see that the toilet was clean and well maintained. Camp-site was also well maintained. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating, and were very responsive to messages, bringing delicious fresh eggs promptly when we had requested them. Kookaburra was easy to find and get to from Sydney and as per other reviews, it was very quiet and serene. As with most camp-sites and remote areas, the reception was not the best, but devices could still be used (if required). We all had a great time and would definitely consider returning to this camp-site. Considering the reasonable cost of booking, I would recommend this camp-site!

Stunning property only a short drive from Nowra. Felt lush and secluded with great vistas from the Pecan site. Vallance was super responsive and helpful. Would definitelyyy recommend bringing fly traps and repellant for the demon flies and mozzies in summer. Always lovely having limited reception but a nice feature having the wifi only available at the communal shed in case you need to get an AllTrails map or weather update! Thanks again!

A quiet, peaceful spot in a large paddock near a creek. Easy and quick access off the A1 with our 9m caravan. The kids enjoyed having the cows and a horse to watch, and it was nice being able to buy free-range eggs from the host. A relaxed place to stop and unwind.

Second time camping at Wombat Hollow. Loved it even more. Went for an early evening stroll this time and saw so many wombats. The bird song was gorgeous evening and morning.
Camped up at the Pecan Wood camp. The view from the top of the rise is wonderful and worth being a little further from the creek. Pecan gets sun all day so perfect for cooler months. If we visit in summer we'll stay at one of the shady creek-side camps.
