You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar. The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to the Mittagong Town Centre where you will find all the shops, cafes and restaurants for your needs. It is well worth a visit to ‘The Shaggy Cow’ cafe, one of our favourite foodie spots (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale). While you're here please try the Cool Climate wines. The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong, including Centennial Vineyards. Enjoy a pleasant wine tasting experience at Centennial (don’t forget to mention us). The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere". The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. She even let us picked grapefruits from her garden and gave us some eggs from her hens, which was such a thoughtful touch. Her hospitality is truly exceptional. The cabin itself is cozy, spotless, and feels like home. There’s so much to explore and do on her beautiful property, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. We had a lovely time at Merry Beach Caravan Park. There was a beautiful electric fire (as well as an air conditioner) so we were warm and comfortable, even in the winter weather. The cabin was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The location was beautiful - we enjoyed walking the beach and had a delicious dinner at a local restaurant ‘Merry St’.

A secluded little historic village in a peaceful valley. Half hour drive to the start of Pigeonhouse Mountain walk. The restored cottages are so charming, we were comfortable and cosy in ours, loved all the timber and features. Host took extra care to make sure we were comfortable. Highly recommended.

The cabin was spacious enough for 4 adults and had everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stay. The kitchenette was well-equipped, and the bedding and towels were provided, which made things easier. We only wish we could have stayed longer to try the BBQ, campfire and explore the area - something to look forward to next time! Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Our family of four had a fantastic stay at Ross and Joanne's place. We hired Carisbrook, the larger home at the retreat. It was so comfortable with everything you need. A home away from home. Ross and Joanne are great hosts and communication was excellent. Our 15 year old is obsessed with fishing. He caught quite a few bass in the river. He was very impressed! The tall trees, the birds and the serenity made our stay a memorable one. We will definitely be back. The smaller cottages look just a comfortable too with everything you need.
