Stunning valley views are to be had from the Flat Rock viewing platform located on the rim of the escarpment above the property. This is a popular spot for local bushwalkers, hikers, and visitors to the area. The cottage is 27 km or a 25-minute drive north of Taree Airport, 45 minutes south of Port Macquarie, and 5 minutes from Upper Lansdowne village. There is a distance of 3kms of unsealed road which is regularly maintained to a good standard by our local council. The nearest x street is Muddy Lane. GUEST BOOK Please familiarise yourself with the guest book and observe our house rules contained therein. Information on our house and safety rules, as well as local attractions and tips for getting the most from your rural holiday experience. EXCLUSIONS: No conventional oven. No gourmet kitchen experience. Please use the dual burner butane gas stove and kettle gas barbeque, electric stainless steel cooker, slow cooker/crock pot, and various other electric appliances available to you. No laundry or clothes washing machine. (we are in a rural location so there is no town water. Our water supply is captured rainwater which is in limited supply) There are several laundromat services available in Taree if you need to wash. BYO FOOD, TOILETRIES, and FIREWOOD Blue Hills Cottage is a self-catered holiday experience and guests are required to bring their own supplies including food, toiletries, firewood, starters, and matches. This is rustic living, no flash flush here but a practical long drop eco-friendly compost toilet and a fantastic gas hot water shower out in the elements! You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows sheets etc. we are on tank water and at times it is low! Dogs are welcome but please bring their own bedding. The property is also home to local wildlife and filled with lots of old trees, plants and flowers whilst enjoy your morning cuppa on the balcony As we are 45 minutes from the closest town, you will need to fuel up before you head up the mountain. Also bring drinking water and all the food you will require for your stay. The Elands general store carries basic groceries, beer wine and spirits. Loads of walking tracks nearby; the Legendary Ellenborough Falls is 5 mins by car or half hour walk through the Elands Village Hour and half from Port Macquarie and Forster and one hour from Taree in the hinterland from Wingham or Comboyne (coming from Port Macquarie). There is an endless network of gravel roads and fire trails waiting to be explored, taking you through the national parks, state forests and undulating farmlands of the Bulga Plateau. This delightful self contained cabin is a perfect getaway for you to work on your project, (longer stays can be negotiated) be it visual art; a book; a film script; photography or simply forest breathing to clear the mind. Blue Knob (Kaoraoa) at 1014 metres, is one of the highest peaks in the forest with Panoramic Plateau Views of the surrounding country. 40 mins by car. I'm retired now and appreciate even more, living in paradise. The usually good amount of rain, the ever warmer summers when we can swim in the Ellenborough River. The cottage is 27 km or a 25-minute drive north of Taree Airport, 45 minutes south of Port Macquarie, and 5 minutes from Upper Lansdowne village. There is a distance of 3kms of unsealed road which is regularly maintained to a good standard by our local council. The nearest x street is Muddy Lane. GUEST BOOK Please familiarise yourself with the guest book and observe our house rules contained therein. No gourmet kitchen experience. This is rustic living, no flash flush here but a practical long drop eco-friendly compost toilet and a fantastic gas hot water shower out in the elements! You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows sheets etc. we are on tank water and at times it is low! Dogs are welcome but please bring their own bedding. The property is also home to local wildlife and filled with lots of old trees, plants and flowers whilst enjoy your morning cuppa on the balcony As we are 45 minutes from the closest town, you will need to fuel up before you head up the mountain. Also bring drinking water and all the food you will require for your stay. The Elands general store carries basic groceries, beer wine and spirits. Loads of walking tracks nearby; the Legendary Ellenborough Falls is 5 mins by car or half hour walk through the Elands Village Hour and half from Port Macquarie and Forster and one hour from Taree in the hinterland from Wingham or Comboyne (coming from Port Macquarie). There is an endless network of gravel roads and fire trails waiting to be explored, taking you through the national parks, state forests and undulating farmlands of the Bulga Plateau. This delightful self contained cabin is a perfect getaway for you to work on your project, (longer stays can be negotiated) be it visual art; a book; a film script; photography or simply forest breathing to clear the mind. Blue Knob (Kaoraoa) at 1014 metres, is one of the highest peaks in the forest with Panoramic Plateau Views of the surrounding country. 40 mins by car. I'm retired now and appreciate even more, living in paradise. The usually good amount of rain, the ever warmer summers when we can swim in the Ellenborough River.
