The view over the farmland's and the sunrise were spectacular. Graham was a very good host. I had trouble with my pullout kitchen and Graham came to the rescue with a drill and screw. The other campers were very nice and the area is large enough to spread out. The composting toilets were very clean and no smell at all. The showers, one inside one outside complete with outdoor bathtub were a plus. Nice hot water with good pressure. You are also able to walk the property and not worry about neighbours. Beautiful private location close to the Coonabarabran town. The cabin looks rustic from the outside and five star on the inside. The camp kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The host is welcoming and entertaining playing a collection of musical instruments at happy hour.

We spent 3 days here and it was lovely! The amenities including a shower were very clean and tidy, with plenty of hot water (just need to move the cute little frogs along before use). Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Make sure you ask them for a tasting at the distillery while you’re there. There’s a free camp down the road, but this farm is ideal if you want a little more privacy and security.

Great spot for a quick overnight camp. The toilets and shower were nice and clean. We were the only ones there so it was nice and quiet. We used the bbq in the camp kitchen for a quick cook up, which was handy. We’ll have to come back again when we have more time! Communication was excellent

I really enjoyed my stay at Maalaabidi such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay Graham the host is a beautiful person and is a joy to chat with over a cup of his excellent coffee. I loved waking up to the sound of kookaburra's and other birds for the dawn chorus. The camp is close to Coonabarabran which has a good range of dining and shopping options. I had an enjoyable visit to the Pilliga Pottery which was excellent. Thank you Graham and Maalaabidi for a very memorable break on my journey. John G

Just a really nice place to relax. Looking out over the grape vines at the cattle and crops couldn't be more relaxing. The shower was also amazing. Great pressure and hot water.

I stayed at the Black Gate Distillery camp ground after stopping by for a rum and whiskey tasting. I can't recommend the tasting enough. Genise ran me through a tasting of the available spirits, giving a good explanation of each sample. Then, Brian took me into the distillery to see the inner workings. His passion and enthusiasm was obvious. He gave me tastings of several of the spirits in the barrels while explaining the process. In fact, I had to tell him that my taste buds had had enough as he was happy to keep going. I was the only person at the camp ground, so it was difficult to rate it. Firewood was supplied, but it was a waste lighting a fire for myself, so I didn't. The amenities were very good - clean, hot showers. There was a BBQ available, but I didn't use it.

Genise was very responsive and helpful in the booking and lead up to our stay at the Black Gate Distillery, and Brian was there to help us out on arrival. The amenities were in great condition, and the distillery and surrounds were very interesting to camp amongst. We enjoyed having a campfire, and enjoyed our stay in general. Thank you.

1 night at Black Gate Distillery

We had a fantastic stay. It was great to find the amenities clean, tidy and with hot water. The site was flat and we had a decent camp fire pit right next to where we set up. We pre- booked into a distillery tour and spent our time with Genise, who was the perfect host. We learnt the ins and outs of the distillery, how they came to be in the industry and had a fabulous time tasting the excellent quality whisky and rum. Included was a platter with the most delicious locally produced cheese. Definitely worth a visit. One tip is camp towards the rear of the site as there can be a bit of road noise in the morning. But that did not bother us at all.
