This unique abode, has a relaxed feel on a 5 acre property, close to the Byron town (only 13kms) but far enough away to enjoy the solitude the hinterlands offers with access to wide open fresh air.
It consists of a 1964 original vintage caravan, with an open-plan living/dining area, a gorgeous industrial-style bathroom, with a glass ceiling for star gazing & an outdoor fire-pit.
The open air living allows guests to feel 100% connected to the natural environment, while at the same time having access to reliable, fast internet along with the comforts of a hot shower, flush loo etc. It is an ideal way to capture the restored feeling from remote camping, without the hassle of taking all your camping gear.
Sleeping arrangements: We have a custom-made inner spring mattress that is an unusual size due to the vintage age of the vintage caravan & therefore the size, is in between a King-single & double size width & a queen-size length (which may or may not be big enough for 2 people depending on your sleeping expectations). The actual measurements are: 1.13M wide & 2M long. There is also a separate king single-size bed, on the other side of the caravan, suitable for another adult, a child or two small children.
All linen and bath towels etc are provided. The caravan is cosy, with a TV, stereo, fridge, sink, wardrobe & storage space.
The property is not far from the beautiful bathhouses of Mullumbimby too ie Kiva Spa & Banya bathhouse
We are a pet-friendly property. If you wish to bring your friendly pet, they are welcome, but we charge a fee of $25 . Please select that you have a pet when making your booking. We also request that you kindly ensure that your pet does not go inside the caravan or on any of the furniture including the bed, lounge etc. If there is dog hair in the van or on the couch we may need to charge an extra cleaning fee.

We had the best time staying here despite changes in our plans due to the weather, the local stores and restaurants are great and despite only briefly being able to explore the railway trail in break of rain we had a blast. The cabin itself is set up amazingly and they have done an amazing job of planting different vegetation and making the property feel like a magical spot. 5/5 ⭐
My only feedback is the tubs for kitchen storage would be a little easier to use if they their contents were labelled on the tub but that's my only piece of constructive feedback for the place.

The cabin and facilities were clean, comfortable, well presented and everything you need in a private location.
Accessing the rail trail was very easy, just down the road, ride straight from the door.
If you’re looking for a comfortable, private base to take on the trail and enjoy the surrounding sights I highly recommend a stay here.

I had an excellent experience—quiet, relaxed, and just what I needed. The cabin was spotless and cozy, with everything I needed already there. A thoughtful welcome gift was waiting in the fridge, which was such a nice touch. Craig was friendly, responsive, and easy to communicate with. Aliki and Pat are great hosts and their place is definitely the jewel of Caniaba. Having the place to ourselves, with only wallabies, cows and birds for company whilst relaxing in the spa under a blanket of stars was blissful. I would definitely stay there again. Would recommend you take your own BBQ as none at the property.

This was the most beautiful romantic stay, Aliki was super welcoming and friendly. The view was incredible, the spa was amazing, the walking trail on the property was magical. We even walked with cows down by the creek. Perfect romantic destination!

This is my second time staying here, and we absolutely love it. Even though the main house is close, you would never know anyone lived there. Aliki and her partner are very respectful. It’s quite for excellent sleeps, but still a close drive to Lismore if you need shopping supplies or if you’re into supporting local businesses like we are go have some food out. We’ll be back again.

Weekend Trip to Creek Side Shepherds Hut Rail Trail
We had a very peaceful stay at the Hut, surrounded by nature - a highlight being sleeping with all the windows open under the net, and hearing the babbling creek, and bird & insect life all around us. It’s the perfect spot to hit the Rail Trail, we did 58km and soaked in the hot tub that night. The Hut has everything you need - bbq, coffee machine, kitchen utensils, large fridge, linen & towels. Burringbar town is super close if you want a meal out. We had a delicious breakfast at Teakwood, and got to meet Craig and have a chat about the history of the property. It’s a lovely place for couples to disconnect.

Beautiful part of the world! Aliki our host was kind, hospitable and so so friendly! Aliki and Pat already had the fire pit set up on arrival and the hot tub was on and ready to enjoy! The cabin is impeccable, cozy and modern it had everything we needed plus more! The hot tub overlooked spectacular views of the valley. Yak Yak creek is an easy 15 minute walk from the cabin through beautiful bush and creek beds. It is so peaceful! I would highly recommend Aliki’s to all future Hipcampers. We will be back!

Very relaxing stay, Aliki and Pat are great hosts. Room was spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need for a short or longer stay. Tranquil property with great views, plenty of wildlife to look at including some very friendly cows. Spa worked great and a very relaxing way to spend a weekend.
