10 m travel trailer · With pets · Let’s start with all the positives. Lovely country outlook on a working farm, and for the October Long Weekend, the place was almost empty which was a surprise.
What could be improved in my opinion, as a caravaner?
* Signage / a simple direction arrow at Y intersections on the farm would make access with a caravan less stressful.
* Site locations for those of us with short legged dogs would be more ideal if they were mowed / trimmed down low. Some Hipcamps do a brilliant job at keeping sites super neat and cut short, and that helps when walking around / setting up / packing down. This Hipcamp looked like the area had roughly been slashed a few weeks earlier, but the irregular slashing left the site with variable lengths of straw growth including thistles, and lots of loose straw that inevitably ends up all through the van. Even our 3 mukmats couldn’t keep the inside of the van clean.
* River access is overgrown and could definitely do with regular clearing for site guests. It looked like only 1 site had clear access.
* Many of the areas have dead trees, some of which are hollowed out. Lots of these trees are big, and certainly a genuine concern when camping or parking a rig near one.
This is the conundrum between owners of a working farm and expectations of caravan guests paying for suitable Offgrid sites.
We never met the hosts, so unable to discuss in person.
