Awarded South Dakota's best Hip Camp 4 times. Uncle B's farm is a small 11 acre hobby farm with a large vegetable garden, chickens, peafowl, guinea fowl, turkeys, dogs, and cats. There is an old quarried stone railroad bridge and a few short walking trails around the pond. The pond is at the back of the property where I have 6 dry camp sites listed as Uncle B's farm for tents or self contained RV's. All sites have partial to full shade and most have mature trees that will work for a hammock or tensile tent. All of the campsites have a firepit, some with cooking grates and all sites have a picnic table. The "shower shack" is shared by all guests and has 2 separate 3/4 baths with all modern plumbing. There is also a basic outdoor kitchen with a few portable grills as well as a sink with modern plumbing. Available at Uncle B's RV Camper site I have 3 RV sites with water and 30 Amp electrical hookups. My "Ready Set Camp" listing is a dome tent set up and furnished with 4 cots, table, and lamp as well as a match ready fire. The Barn loft apartment is a studio apartment with a small galley kitchen and private bath. The Hippie Bus is new for the 2025 season and offers a trip back in time. Voted the Best Hip Camp to visit in South Dakota 4 times ... Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls.  I really enjoy hosting and try and make sure everyone gets a little more than they expected. I try and offer farm fresh eggs, Smores fixin's, and produce from the garden. The chickens cant always keep up and its late summer before the garden hits it stride but depending on your timing you may get one or all of the above freebies.  There are 6 tent or self contained dry camp sites spaced out near the pond. each site has room for a medium sized RV however the 6 sites listed as Uncle B's farm do not have electricity or water. If you require hookups you will want to book one of the 3 sites listed as Uncle B's RV sites. Picnic tables and firepits are at all sites and an adequate amount of firewood is included with additional firewood that can be purchased. There is also a storm shelter available should weather warrant.  I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond.    The shower shack is fully functional with two complete 3/4 bath rooms. next on the list is a screened in "clubhouse and eventually a basic outdoor kitchen but for now there is a utility sink that can be used for dishes.   Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Thunder Valley Dragstrip in Marion is 10 miles away with weekend drag-racing. I-90 Speedway (dirt track) is about 20 miles and have 3 classes of stock cars on Saturday nights. The Ortman Chiropractic Clinic in Canistota is 6 miles. Sioux Falls and the Sanford Premier Center is about 25 miles. Great Pheasant hunting in every direction with public hunting area's near by.

Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls. A large garden and several pets including Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Peacocks, and Guinea's. Out back is a small pond frequented by a variety of birds and animals, ducks, geese, hawks, woodpeckers, owls, muskrat, and pheasants to name a few. This pond, while very low right now, has several fish and turtles you can feed.  I currently have 3 RV site's with electricity and water available. All 3 sites have a 30 amp electrical service and rural water and Wi-fi is available throughout the camp. Sites are spaced 50 feet apart and each site has a picnic table and firepit with a small amount of firewood included and additional firewood that can be purchased. I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond. The shower shack has 2 separate 3/4 modern bathrooms with hot water showers and flushing toilets to be shared by all guests. Adjoining the shower shack is the "Clubhouse" and a basic outdoor kitchen with a sink and a few very used grills.  I have a large garden and often have extra produce to share depending on the season, past guests were offered tomato's, peppers, and squash along with farm fresh free range eggs all at no charge.  Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Rustic, Cozy, and Private studio apartment with a 3/4 bath and kitchen. The loft has a queen size bed, a gas fireplace for chilly nights and A/C for the hot ones. The barn loft was not used during the 2022 camping season and has since had new flooring installed and a plumbing issue resolved. The reviews from the 2021 seasons mention breakfast supplies that are no longer offered however there are a few basic pantry items and condiments as well as cookware and utensils.   The loft overlooks the barn yard and campground and is adjacent to the bird cages so the sound of roosters, peacocks, turkeys, and guinea fowl is to be expected. The lower portion of the barn is also home to dogs and cats and I did have one guest complain about the barn smell. Myself and 96% of my guests haven't had a problem with it but if you have a sensitive nose or are allergic to cats or dogs you should consider other accommodations.  I also offer 3 RV sites and 6 dry camp sites and they share a 2 stall bath house and a basic outdoor kitchen. At the rear of the property is a pond and some short walking trails that all guests are welcome to use... I will also be setting up a drive inn movie theater here at the farm this spring and with cooperative weather and enough interested campers show a movie around dusk... My tent sites won the Best Hip Camp for 2021 and 2023 and the loft will come with the same award winning hospitality.

Ready set camp is just that... a choice campsite set back into the cedars with all of the camping gear provided. a dome tent set up and ready to go with four cots, lamp, and alarm clock. There is a picnic table, firepit, and two chairs. With full access to the showers, bathrooms, and shared outdoor kitchen with cook-ware and utensils. All you need to provide is bedding and a love of nature.

the Hippie Bus

The Hippie Bus is a repurposed 1958 Superior Bus that was designed to take you back to the late 1960's to board a hippie bus traveling the country. It has a queen-sized bed in the rear and in the front a futon and table and chairs. But, and best of all is the onboard audio system, a turn of a knob and you can be playing some of the best "hippie music" from the late 60's and early 70's. Tie dye, a lava lamp, and some psychedelic lighting complete the groovy vibe. While the bus is pretty "Cool" It does not have air conditioning and can and will get hot in mid-summer. The bus does have a limited amount of solar power that will run a few fans provided with the bus. Also note this is still very much camping and bugs and uncomfortable temps are a definite possibility. The bus is parked in a large semiprivate meadowlike area a very short walk from the parking space with great views of both the sunrise and sunset. The site does have a firepit and outdoor seating and could accommodate several tents for a larger group So the site will allow bookings up to 20 people but only sleeping accommodations for 3 in the bus are included. The bus does not have a private bath or kitchen but you filthy hippies are encouraged to use the shower shack and outdoor kitchen roughly 200 feet from the bus. Long haired freaky people welcome.

Brian lives on a beautiful property that he has worked hard to develop for campers. The sites are very individual, with trees and space between campsites. The bathroom/showers are convenient and clean and he has an outdoor kitchen set up for use as well. His property is a delight to explore as there are numerous gnomes and surprises to discover. The night was quiet and dark - located outside a city there were clear skies and only nature’s nighttime sounds. It was a much needed reprieve on a long road trip and by far and away my favorite place on our trip. We will absolutely stay again when traveling that way! Did I remember to mention the phone booth?

Brian was an excellent host and very friendly conversationalist who went out of his way to trade stories and tell jokes. The farm is charming and well kept; Brian clearly puts a lot of effort into its upkeep and development, and wants to make sure you feel at home there. After being rained out earlier in South Dakota, I was a little trepidatious about camping again when the weather could change, but the overwhelmingly positive reviews for Brian’s hipcamp convinced me to change my mind and give it a shot. A sign of a great host and mc is that they put your fears to rest at once, and after traveling across dark and wet roads for 5 hours to get to Brian’s, I was immediately soothed by his demeanor and accommodation for us. Without even needing to ask or inquire about our situation, Brian seemed to sense what we really needed was somewhere dry and warm, so he set us up with a sheltered clearing, some kindling and firewood, and fixings for s’mores so we could settle in the right way. In the morning we were greeted by curious, friendly dogs, cats, and regal peacocks that were darting around the farm. Brian engaged us with some nice talk and we got to pick his brain about farm life and the sorts of travelers he meets. Before we had to leave he gave us some recommendations for sightseeing along our route to Chicago and loaded us up with delicious cherry tomatoes from his garden. I can confidently say this was an incredible stay. I’ve traveled all over the world and am always in search of a standout experience, but I didn’t expect to find it in South Dakota. I will be coming back!

Who knew a little produce farm outside of Souixe Falls SD would be one of the highlights of an epic cross country roadtrip? When I pulled up I was in desperate need of a pleasant place to stay, and as soon as I saw peacocks and dogs running around, I knew Uncle Bs was just what the doctor ordered. He was jovial, communicative, generous, and made me and my senior dog feel welcomed and right at home. He was helpful through the entire stay, and provided just the right amount of social interaction-which at this point of my solo trip was needed. Expect tomatoes, s'mores and and a very pleasant environment.Thank you, Brian. I hope to be back someday!! And don't let me forget the RI plate....

Highly recommend! Brian is a phenomenal host. It’s like showing up at a friend’s home. The space was excellent, and having power for AC (it was HOT!) was great - the water was really good, bathrooms with shower were clean and close - just like all the reviewers, if you are near and need a place to stop, this is the place even if you have to drive a little further to get there. I left with delicious cherry tomatoes from the garden, and Brian brought us some larger tomatoes too. Thank you Brian, we appreciate you.

Brian was incredible. We had a dog that had been sitting in a van for a really long day. He gave us a private area to let him run around with dibs is very sweet dog that our dog loved to play with. He made her son feel rated home with all of his creative avenues around his property. I couldn’t find a better place to stay.Thank you, Brian and your family. Birds, dogs, cats, etc. I noticed you didn’t have an Oregon license plate and if you send me your address again, I will send you one for your outhouse. I hope you guys have a wonderful evening.

Wow! Blown away by Brian’s hospitality and generosity, even with our later than expected arrival. Lovely and quiet place to stay. Kids had a fantastic time running all over, hanging out with the farm animals, and making a call to grandparents on the pay phone. The shower and bathroom space were comfortable, and it is obvious this is a labor of love through all the details that Brian puts into his place. Would definitely stop by again if driving through! Thank you SO much for being so kind to us, and especially our kids! Bless you!

Uncle B’s Camping was absolutely amazing! I tent camped at Site #6, which Brian recommended, and he couldn’t have been more spot-on—it was perfect. The sunsets from the train-track bridge were incredible, and the sunrises were some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Brian was such a kind and welcoming host. Between the s’mores, fresh vegetables, chickens, dogs, peacocks, and kittens, my heart was completely full. I was traveling and camping alone, and I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. I’m so happy I found this special little place in South Dakota. I would absolutely stay here again!

I really enjoyed camping at Uncle B’s farm! Brian was a great host who even helped me pitch my tent while we had a friendly conversation. He also supplied s’mores supplies and some lgokegrown cherry tomatoes, The camping spot was perfect for my needs and let me get a good night’s rest before continuing on my way. Uncle B’s is the place to stay if you’re in the Sioux Falls area and are looking for a great place to relax!

Uncle B is a great host. He offered us some s’more fixings and firewood to make s’mores. The flush toilets and running water to wash your hands was great. There’s a place to wash your dishes. There’s hot water for showers. We had weather nearby so he told us what to do if we got a warning on our cell phones. And he has lots of fun stuff to see at the campground.

Uncle B is the most down to Earth and kind host we’ve had the pleasure of meeting on any lodging service I’ve ever used period. When we got to the farm Uncle B greeted us and personally showed us to our site, we were the only campers that night so it felt extra private. The land is beautifully maintained with many fireflies (if you’re here in the right season) dancing around in the evening. The bathrooms/showers have hot water and are easy to access from the site. Uncle B even provided some s’mores fixins for us, which was a nice touch since we weren’t expecting anything, but are very grateful for it! There is almost no road noise here, just the critters of the night yapping till you fall asleep. Keep in mind that are many little insects that will be flying around here, especially in the summer since it’s humid; but this was totally fine and expected. We would’ve loved to stay longer to experience more fireflies and Uncle B’s hospitality, but we were only passing by. We hope to one day go back to Badlands and to visit Custer Park, and of course stop by Uncle B’s for a guaranteed great night’s sleep.

Brian has an oasis of a property that he so carefully thought of every detail for; the entire place is a treasure trove and you can tell how much care and effort went into curating such a spectacular place. We arrived embarrassingly late after far too many rental car issues, and yet we were greeted by Brian, the best dogs in all of SD, and a smores kit that became the highlight and talking point of the rest of our drive across the country. Thank you for sharing your place with us, we’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re passing through (on time this time!)

What an awesome spot! Brian is such a gracious, welcoming, and fun host. He went out of his way to make sure my dog and I were set up and comfortable and it’s clear he put a lot of thought into the property to make it memorable. I wish I could’ve stayed for more than one night!
